8/6/2012 - Mickey's Alaskan Adventure

I don't know if anyone has been looking for Palo reservations but my sister just cancelled her reservation for the Tuesday night of our cruise (August 7) at 8:30pm.

Alright, my son's orthodontist is running a contest. The winner gets a Kindle Fire. To enter, we have to submit a photo of my son brushing his teeth in a crazy, unique or unusual place. So, of course I want to do this while on the cruise or on an excursion. Any suggestions for locations on board the ship? I'd have him pose with a character, but that is kind of expected. I want something really unusual. I want to WIN! :-)

Are you doing Amy excursions to a glacier? That would certainly be an unusual place.

I just read back through the posts (thank you CaliforniaGirl09 for listing them). We originally liked the Mickey ears (also by Milliepie) had 3 votes for it. Then Caitlin's Dad did the image for us with the Life preserver and we all liked it. Then Milliepie re-did Caitlin's dad's image and made it even better and we all really liked it. My family liked them all, so they were no help! lol!

So, it really seems like the new Life Preserver of Mickey & the Gang should be the T-shirt winner. We can print the Mickey ears for magnets.

Unless there's an objection, let's just go for it.

Post back if anyone tries to print off the images. Not sure when I can personally get to it.

Which design did we designate for the shirt, and which one is our magnet?

See the above quoted post--New life preserver for t-shirts and the mickey ears for magnets. Let us know how the iron on transfer goes.

I was thinking that, too--or maybe dog mushing camp? Panning for gold?

Just heard back from the printer. Does anyone know the rules for printing Disney stuff? She said it's Disney and there are copyright & trademark rules, yada yada yada....I thought it was okay to print these? Last time I printed them off and ironed them on. It's a process and I don't really want to do it again. The printing sheets were $19.99 at JoAnn's (I checked today), if we have to go that route.

Anyone know? I'm going to read through the graphics board and post a question on the main board, see if I can get an answer and convince them or order through someone online.

A company cannot print them and sell them. You can make a t-shirt for yourself, but you can't make them and sell them.

Back to the T-shirts. I have a local printer friend that is willing to print my iron on transfers for me. But I couldn't get anyone else to "print" the actual graphic on T-shirts for me.

Another poster pm'd me that vistaprint will do it. I tried Cafe Press, spreadshirts and zazzle? I found these names on various dis threads.

I ordered my shirts from the gal I mentioned above and am going to iron the transfers on myself. The best price I could find on the dark fabric transfers was at the local JoAnn's. They had 10 for $9.99. The office stores wanted $16.99 for 5.

There is a gal listed through the graphics boards that sells the iron on transfer sheets, but her website says she isn't doing any graphics until like Aug. 8th. So, I'm not sure if we order the transfer sheets from her if we will get them. Everyone swears by the quality of them that posted about them. Her sight was like AmyMickey or Mickey's Amy? Don't remember.

Hope this helps everyone. I thought I had it all simplified, we are just onto plan B. Good thing we are all so flexible! lol!

On a good note, I finished my FE decisions today and most things are in process. Yeah me! lol!

pirate:When my day slows down, probably around 2:00 or 3:00 this afternoon, I'll print the life preserver image onto my iron-on transfer sheet, and let you know how it goes. I'll post pics - either here on on my blog - and let you know what I think of the quality. I already have a plain white shirt to use, so no biggie if it turns out less than perfect... keep your fingers crossed.

ETA: Well, I hit a snag in making my shirt. It seems that the last time I wore it, I must have spilled tomato soup down the front. Spent over an hour getting the stains out. It is all clean and making its way through the washer and drier now. Hopefully it will be ready to iron before dinner. I did print out the image onto the paper and it looks pretty cool. Can't wait to finally make it!

I just placed an order for our t-shirts with CafePress. The site let me upload the photo, and I did not get any copyright warnings. We will see if I get some kind of follow-up email indicating they are unable to print my design. If you go to the CafePress website and start looking around, a box will pop up offering you 30% off your order if you Like CafePress on Facebook. This ended up to be quite a savings on my order (and I don't trust myself with the DIY iron-on method!). The code is FBFAN30. Not sure if it will let you use it if you don't actually Like their page, but you can give it a try.

OK.... I finished the shirt. One thing to keep in mind - whether you are going to a printer or doing the iron-on - is the placement of the image. I put the shirt on and tried to find a good place on the front, but the girls made that difficult. I ended up putting the image on the back of the shirt, and I think I like that better.

Also, with iron-ons, you are limited to the size of the image. It can only be as big as a letter-size piece of paper.

I'll work on getting the pics, my files are too large.

Had my iron on images printed today. My shirts will be here next week. I plan on putting the picture on the back too. I had the Disney name tags made for the front to iron on. It's all coming together. Yeah!

Just got an email today from CafePress that they cannot fulfill my order due to potential copyright issues. Sounds like iron-on is the only way to get this done. Not sure that is going to happen for me, but the magnets definitely will.

That's a bummer about the printers not being able to print the shirts. We plan on doing the iron on thing too....found the iron on transfers at Joann's. They had 3 sheets 8 1/2 x 11 for $7.99 (or 6 sheets 8 1/2 x11 for $14.99 )and we plan on using the 50% coupon. We're going to just put the graphic on the front of the shirt (in the upper left corner)...hopefully it will turn out!

We bought most of what we are going to do for our FE gifts this weekend...yay!!!!....just have to put it all together now!

Lots to do before the cruise.... Getting really excited!!! :) only 22 days left!!!

I bought my iron-on transfer sheets at Walmart for around $7 for a package of 6 letter-sized sheets. Hope this helps. I still need to find magnet paper though. :-)

Calfan and I ordered shirts from Vista print today, we'll let you know if there are any problems. The total cost was about $56 for four adult LONG sleeve t-shirts (including on XXL for DH). I used a coupon (www.vistaprint.com/sticky) which got me 25% off. I uploaded my image as is, and it gave me a warning so I might have blurry t-shirts. :) Calfan found a great work around by selecting an option that had text (making image smaller); she just left the text blank. Give us about 24 hours to report back on any copyright issues...

Hi, Monica. The Disney World Moms Panel is a group of moms (and a few dads and even an aunt) who help answer questions for families planning all types of Disney vacations. The panel has moms who specialize in areas like DCL, RunDisney, Disneyland Resort, WDW and more.

The online application usually goes live in mid-September and has been open to the first 20,000 applicants. The few lucky moms who are selected as panelists must be able to take a training trip to WDW, typically in early December. Then, after a year of service, each mom does receive a trip to the WDW resort with her family.

Best if luck if you decide to apply!!

Morning, Cruisers... I found this site on one of the other DisBoards. It gives the aurora forecast. This time of year, we will be lucky to catch a small glimpse, but you never know when magic will strike!

And it is confession time... I have started packing! Anyone else already have the suitcases out of the storage closet??

Oh I hope we do get to see it! Here in WA a couple nights ago we were able to see them in the northern part of our state (not where I am though :( )... From the pictures it looks really beautiful! I've heard though that the likelihood that we will see them is not great because of the amount of daylight we will have and not enough night... But like you said you never know when a little magic will come!! ;)

I haven't pulled out the suitcases yet but I sure have been organizing things to go in them! Lol
