8/6/2012 - Mickey's Alaskan Adventure

Okay, I'm really confused...I thought the new life preserver one that she PM'd us was the one we were doing for t-shirts? (see posts #320 and then posts #341 & 342) Did she do both images and maybe that's why I'm confused? Can someone post both links so I know what I'm doing, LOL?

Anyway, both images seem to be too low of resolution for printing on t-shirts as they are right now. It would be great if she could do a higher resolution, otherwise we'll all have blurry t-shirts!

I'm not sure but I think she did do both images...the Mickey ears and the Life preserver one with the extra characters and the Mickey head in the year 2012.

What sites do you guys like for printing t-shirts? I have done the iron-on thing before, but I have never ordered one. What type of cost is involved?? Thx!

I know cafe press does it, as well as Vista print. I think the cost varies, but I would guess about $15+, depending on where you get it done. It's pretty easy--all you do is upload the image and order. I'll follow up with more info when I order.

I'm heading out to work now. I will check back much later tonight.

Awesome, thanks for the links. I think I'd vote for the life preserver for the t-shirt, but I'm fine with whatever.

I was thinking the same thing--that's why I was confused.

Hi Guy! Just getting back in for the night. Did anyone play around with the new images to see if they will print for us? There was talk of doing the life preserver one on the back of a T-shirt and the Mickey Ears as the name tag on the front, kinda. Make sense? I'm good with whichever one we all want to use.

I think we got confused after Milliepie revised the life preserver for us. So, it's between Milliepie's Life Preserver with the characters or the Mickey Ears. Whichever we don't put on the T-shirts, we'll use as a magnet for our doors.

I'm chatting with a lady tomorrow that said she can make the T-shirts for like $8. As soon as I get the details, I will post here so if you want to use her, you can. Huge selection of shirts and brands to choose from too!

I just read back through the posts (thank you CaliforniaGirl09 for listing them). We originally liked the Mickey ears (also by Milliepie) had 3 votes for it. Then Caitlin's Dad did the image for us with the Life preserver and we all liked it. Then Milliepie re-did Caitlin's dad's image and made it even better and we all really liked it. My family liked them all, so they were no help! lol!

So, it really seems like the new Life Preserver of Mickey & the Gang should be the T-shirt winner. We can print the Mickey ears for magnets.

Unless there's an objection, let's just go for it.

Post back if anyone tries to print off the images. Not sure when I can personally get to it.

If this is known information, please just ignore. :thumbsup2

If any of you are taking "Alaska Coastal Expedition" in Ketchikan, I would like to suggest to read Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen and you will enjoy more of the little island you visit by the motor crafts you get to drive yourselves.

This book was suggested by a lady who took the DCL Alaskan cruise a year ago in August. She said the visit to the little island reminded a lot of things that happened in the book.

We are still thinking about taking this trip or not. If we do, we can take DS10 with us, but we have to leave DD8 on the ship by herself. The trip itself is just so exciting!!, according to the lady I mentioned.

Tough decision. We probably won't do it.

I'm good with this. I like both images so either one works for me. :)

That's great! Definitely keep us posted. I'm thinking I'll do long sleeve tees for my family. Partly weather and partly because we have so many short sleeved tees.

Sounds good to me!

We're doing the Bering Crab Expedition in Ketchikan, but the book sounds great. Thanks for the recommend.

This works for me, since I voted for the life preserver initially. Pinkandproud, please let us know what you hear from your t-shirt person. Otherwise, I will plan to use CafePress or another of CaliforniaGirl09's recommendations. This will be my first time ordering custom t-shirt, so I am a novice.

I just posted a thread on the main board asking for advice about binoculars in case anyone is interested: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2956189 Hopefully I'll get some good responses, but I've noticed that most questions about binoculars seem to not garner much response. We'll see...

My parents have been on three Alaska Cruises and ave taken binoculars each time. My dad said he was glad he had them. Especially on excursions.

I like binoculars anyway (at football games, etc.), so I'm definitely going to take some. I'm trying to figure out whether it's "worth it" to get a really good pair. I keep going back and forth...

I just sent the graphics over to the T-shirt lady. She is local to me and her prices are pretty unbelievable (if you ask me). She is checking to see which graphic will work best for the printing process. They directly print on the shirts, not print out a graphic and iron it on. I was impressed with her samples. Her turn around time is also very quick. Here is the best part, everyone can pick out their own t-shirts!

Not sure if it's okay to put her information on the board? I can post it here or maybe you guys should PM me, if you are interested in using her. If you have another source, that is fine too. Just wanted to share what I found out.

If we use her, there is only 1 set up fee instead of each of us paying.

You can check out her website for t-shirt selections, www.thinkyourtshirt.com.

They have Fruit of the Loom, Gildan, and Bella. Which were all ones she mentioned for me to check out. I think my family is going with the Gildan (under $10 each! and great quality!).

I e-mailed her the graphics already. You will need to pick your shirts styles and order directly through her.

Thanks,

This is great--thanks so much for doing the legwork on this. I'll PM you right now to get her contact info. Hopefully the graphic will be a good enough resolution for her. VERY exciting :)

Just heard back from the printer. Does anyone know the rules for printing Disney stuff? She said it's Disney and there are copyright & trademark rules, yada yada yada....I thought it was okay to print these? Last time I printed them off and ironed them on. It's a process and I don't really want to do it again. The printing sheets were $19.99 at JoAnn's (I checked today), if we have to go that route.

Anyone know? I'm going to read through the graphics board and post a question on the main board, see if I can get an answer and convince them or order through someone online.

What a bummer! I have no idea bout the rules, but hopefully someone on the graphics board (or Milliepie) can help out. I'd rather stay away from the iron on as well. Maybe some of the other online sights won't be as stringent? I won't have good internet access for a few days, but I'll try when I can...

I have some iron-on sheets at my house I may use. Which design did we designate for the shirt, and which one is our magnet? I am fine with either, so I just didn't vote earlier.

Alright, my son's orthodontist is running a contest. The winner gets a Kindle Fire. To enter, we have to submit a photo of my son brushing his teeth in a crazy, unique or unusual place. So, of course I want to do this while on the cruise or on an excursion. Any suggestions for locations on board the ship? I'd have him pose with a character, but that is kind of expected. I want something really unusual. I want to WIN! :-)
