8/21/08 Wonder 3 night

Test

Trying to upload pics.

Hi everyone, hope all is well.

Well it's getting very close now, and I cannot wait. :woohoo: I haven't started my magnetic pictures yet, I'd better get a move on!

Been real busy hence the lack of posts, but I have been logging on to see what everyone is up to.

Ski, I hope you're all better now and ready to paaarty!

Sue, hope your test went well. I'm considering going back to my old job teaching hairdressing, I'll need to gain another qualification to bring me up to date, dunno if I can hack it or not!

Our cabin number is 6110 on deck 6, I think it's near to the lift area which is handy!

What's everyone doing about insurance? I've been checking out different policies, but there doesn't seem to be many that cover land and sea.

Well here in the uk it's our usual typical summer. Rain, rain, rain and more rain! Very difficult to make plans or go anywhere, so I'll be well ready for a break by the time it comes!

Well that's me for now, take care everyone, speak soon. pirate:

good afternoon!,

well i hope everyone had a great 4th! we just went over our friends house-they have there usual 4th bbq. we had a great time watching the fireworks in the rain :rolleyes1 (LOL)!!

well i got my results back! i did pass but not as high as i would have liked to have been- (was probabally the math). so i'll see.

minniemandy- i have travel insurance. we booked OKW through our timeshare, so the land part is taken care of through II(interval world). and we have insurance through Disney Cruise lines for the cruise. it said it on our conformation we got in the mail when we 1st booked.

ski- i hope you are "enjoying" you free week!! sorry that you are still feeling ther pain. gosh i hope in 5 1/2 weeks you will feel better than you do now!! you will though! you'll be in Disney, right!!!

well i am still waiting for our shirts to come in! hopefully this week! the kids and i went to AC Moore last night, got some paper and Disney stikers. when dh wakes up i will have him laminate them, (dont know where he put it), then i will put stickers on.got some magenetic tape, hopefully that will work, i'll test it out when i am done. i'll take pictures. and post them in a few days.

ok bye for now,

~Sue

Hello all,

Newbie again.. okay my 4th of july was very fun. My boys went with there father to Chicago, so mom got a whole week of alone time and girlfriend hang out time, and mommie go drinking time. gosh it was like i was single again. :cheer2:

of course after three days acting like i was a teenager it hit me. took abunch of naps to recoup. :sad2:

also attended my cousin's family reunion. I had a blast and was starting to miss the kids.. when i saw all the other kids hanging out. so is there anything i need to know regarding my first cruise. like for instance 4 year old has never been on a cruise, should i pack ginger snaps or actually get medicine for sea sickness? what time can you check in at port and go check out your room? i am still waiting on my room number, have not seen anything in the mail yet. I did get my reservation number for our stay at the animal kingdom resort when we get off the ship. I am excited about that too.

we will be staying at the resort for 6 days. i will probably be one ragged looking women, but with a big grin. haha

:cheer2:

hello,
well yesterday we gout our OKW documents, (well for the 1 night we booked through the Walt Disney co., the other nights are from our II exchange).
what came with it was:
4 luggage tags-they are the same as last year
a voucher for mini-golf
Planet Hollywood mech. voucher
Planet Hollywood $15 meal voucher-for 1 person
and a sea ray voucher (90 min. for the price 60 min.)

i also got my rewards card- from the visa, i think like $470., that will pay for some our meals.
i can't wait for our DCL docs. to come in... does anyone know how soon before we sail, they come in???
we also were making our door magenets today!!
and our shirts are still beeing worked on.

ok, well i am gonna go finish some more maganets!!
bue for now,
~Sue

pirate: Wow! nice shirts. They are perfect. You'll be cruisin in style. pirate:

I can barely believe the cruise is 5 weeks away! I haven't heard anything from DCL yet and don't expect to this week. But next week!!!! oh boy! That's when I'll start counting the days til the docs arrive.

I was checking the cabin availability status online popcorn:: (odd behavior, I know, but I just can't help myself. I need to know everything. It's an illness.) Anyway -- there's only cats 5 & 6 left! The ship is selling out and will be crowded.

The 8/17 cruise has completely sold out.
Recession?? What recession?? :confused3

Hey all,

We won't get our cruise documents until about 10 days before sailing. I know, that's cutting it close. But there really isn't that much to the documents anymore since you register online. Only the luggage tags (if using DCL transport), DCL bus passes and the Bahamas immigration form.

Postalcop.....love the Mickey pirate shirts. They are adorable.

MPaulin123.....great story about life with the kids away. Its so sad when we adults need loads of naps after just one late night. Its very hard to predict who gets seasick. The only time I really felt seasick was when we were sailing around a tropical storm and you could really feel the ship rocking.

Last year on the Wonder I only felt the ship moving on the first night and only when I was in bed. Day time was fine.

To be safe, I'd pack some ginger snaps. But I'd be surprised if you need them.

Last week for four days both DS and DD were at a camp in CT. So I was an empty-nester for three full days. Aaaaaahhh....the house stayed so nice and clean during that time.

I would have definitely done more drinking and partying except that the day before the 4th of July I lost my footing in my driveway and re-sprained the ankle that had the surgery. I went outside to retrieve the garden hose and sprinkler and wasn't wearing my ankle brace and put on a pair of flip flops. I have a gravel driveway and the flip flops slipped on the stone and my ankle buckled.

I was in a panic all 4th of July weekend worrying I had damaged the surgically repaired ligaments.

Last week both my physical therapist and my podiatrist looked at the ankle and said the ligaments are fine - I just slightly sprained the ankle and lost about 10 days worth of physical therapy.

On a happier note......went to our first Mets game at Shea Stadium on Saturday. Usually we drive down to Philly to watch the Mets play since the drive is about the same amount of time and the Phillies play in a new stadium.

We had an absolute blast. But we were five rows from the top of the stadium and my ankle was quite sore by the end of the game from climbing up and down all those steps.

I'm not surprised the 8/17 and 8/21 cruises are selling out. With the Magic out in California, people don't want to spend the $$$ on airfare to get there. Plus those west coast cruises are incredibly expensive. Way better value for your money to take a shorter Wonder cruise.

Ski& sea- yikes! or should i say ouch! OMG, i feel your pain. my ankle just got week by reading what happened to you. i hope you will be able to relax and be able to sit or stay off your feet. we have just about 1 month left for you to heal.
speaking of which, i can't beleive that in 1 month from tonight, i will be on the Autotrain, (trying to sleep at this time!!) i just can't wait.
i do hope the DCL send out there docs. before the 2 week mark.
what happens if i leave, before the docs. come? will they be able to send us our stuff at Old Key West??

i love our shirts by the way- they turned out great!

bye for now,
~Sue

Wow - five weeks to go!!!! :cool1:

DCL does send their docs awfully close to sailing date - like maybe 10 days before. But I believe if you are staying at WDW beforehand that they do send the docs before your WDW stay (especially if you are using the DCL bus from WDW to the port).

With online registration there really isn't much in the documents anymore. Just the Bahamas immigration form and the DCL bus transfer coupons. Oh, and the DCL airline luggage tags if you are using DCL transportation.

Boy, what wonderful weather we having in NJ lately.

I have overseas in-laws arriving on Monday for a two week stay. We're taking them to the Jersey shore in about 10 days for a week's stay. Really looking forward to that. Can't wait for sun, beach, ocean, tons of seafood and really fresh vegetables.

On the way there and back we stop at a farm stand that makes the BEST homemade pies I've ever had. I look forward to those pies all year. :cloud9:

hey ski- well we leave here on aug.15, and we are taking the auto train, so we will have our car,so we don't need to use the buses. i also did not book the land and sea through DCL. i only have 1 day land booked through Disney co. the other days are an exchange through our time share co.(Interval world). i already have my info from interval . i guess maybe i should call DCL and see if it can be here before the 15th.

well i hope you have fun down the shore- where are you going?? my sister wants to go to Point Pleasent on tuesday. hopefully the weather will be just as nice as this week.

bye for now,
~Sue

We go all the way down to Cape May county (Avalon). We like the beaches in south Jersey better than the beaches in North Jersey. Though Point Pleasant is a nice beach.

Talk about having beach weather right now. What a great beach forecast for this weekend. My brother and family are heading to Wildwood on Sunday.

We could use some rain - I'm watering my flower beds right now.

Hi guys- when can we do the online reg. forms? I can't believe how fast the cruise is coming up! I've been so bad about reading lately but my summer has been crazier than usual. I've promised myself to be good about my pretrip report so you can click the link and have a read. Dh is more excited about the cruise than Disney and the Nick Hotel, can't say I blame him :thumbsup2 Any ideas on which movies will be shown? Dd said something about the Cheetah Girls movie premiering on Aug. 23rd so I was wondering if they'll show that.

16 of us going from NY. Hopefully we won't be to loud. There is 8 adults and 8 kids. We have all been friends for years and this is our first trip all together. We planned this trip 2 years ago and can't believe it is almost here.

Brassy, welcome aboard! :wave2:

16 of you! wow, that is going to be a great trip!
I figured there were more cruisers out there. We have been waiting for them to make their way here.

The countdown has officially begun --- just one month away!!! :yay:

I bought some underwater cameras for our snorkeling on CC. Can't wait to use them! :umbrella:

Brasey.....welcome...the late August DCL cruises are chock full of NY/NJ'ers so plenty of "loud" company :lmao:

That's great you got a large group to come. I always enjoy seeing the large groups sitting together in the dining room during dinner.

I tried to get my extended family to come but we couldn't agree on a sailing date.

Has someone tried to register online, yet? We might be able to by now. And I read on the main cruise page that the Bahamas immigration form can be done online now.

All new Disney movies are shown on the ship the same day they get released. They can't be shown on the jumbo screen on deck nine since that projector can only play DVDs and new releases come on reel tapes (learned that tidbit from a DCL cruise director).

Just watch out that it can be freezing in the theaters in the ships. Bring a sweater.

Thanks Sea and Ski- I haven't checked out the DCL site lately but will today so I can get myself organized. Good tip on the sweatshirts!

I think I have been visited by the upgrade fairy. :lovestruc

I had booked a cat 12 but now find I have a double porthole cat 9 on deck 1.
Awesome! :dance3:

Can't believe my good luck! I was hoping for an upgrade but when I saw how full the ship is, I figured I'd be lucky to get a cat 11.

Any other upgrades?
