Welcome MPaulin!!!!

My family are first time cruisers, too. But the others on this Disthread are veterans and have been really helpful.

You must be sooo excited!!! We are wishing the summer away so 8/21 will come that much faster. Check out the trip report I mentioned a while back. It has lots of pics and good advice. The cruise doesn't seem so far away when you can live through someone elses trip.

hello......

i'm back!!!! from Myrtle Beach !!!!!! we had a great time. got some sun burn, saw my KISS coffee house, went to the Hard Rock theme park, (tiny, we were able to walk around it twice in about 5 hours!!!) no lines, nothing like Disney. but we had a great time. tomorrow is my police test, so after that i can fully concentrate on my Disney trip!!!

WELCOME-- mpaulin123!!! we just drove back thru VA..oh. my the traffic, but i guess it was more so near DC.- must remember to leave early for autotrain, so we can make it on time!!!

gonecruisin- i read the trip report, i should check out the end, but from what i did read it was great, got me so excited for the cruise!!

ski- how are you feeling now that your foot is free!!!

we do plan on decorating our door, your right ski, if it wasnt for the DIS i would have never known!! and i want to see about maybe making some t-shirts for the pirate night. we have a friend who has a buisness- he will make them for us!! (well hopefully)!!

ok, well i must go to bed now, have to get up at 5:30 am.. to take test!!

Sue - good luck on the test (and getting up that early).

Well, I am out of the surgical boot and into some kind of heavy duty ankle wrap. Looks pretty high tech with all these straps. But I am 100% on both feet now.

I walk like a drunken sailor - can't walk in a straight line. I drift to the left.

So the doc tells me I need four weeks of physical therapy three times a week. So I start that tomorrow afternoon.

If all goes well I will be 100% recovered by the end of July which is just in time for our week at the Jersey shore.

Got a sad situation with one of the family cats. He's got an obstruction in his intestines because he ate some critter that didn't fully digest. The Vet tried giving him pills and other means of breaking up the blockage but no good.

An extreme measure would be surgery but we don't think the cat would survive and the recovery would be awful. His body is shutting down as it is. He's lost 25% of his body weight. He's not eating/drinking anymore.

We think he's reaching the end of his life (he's an older cat) and let him die peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Onto happier topics.....I did read that TR from the dad about his 3-night cruise. His experience was identical to mine last year and its a great introduction to what awaits for us in two months time.

It's almost July! Which means it'll soon be August and then our cruise will be right around the corner! I am sooo excited! The wait it killing me.

I checked out the status of cabins on the Dis website ---- they only have cats 5,6,7 & 8 left. So the cruise is filling up but our fellow cruisers haven't seemed to made their way to this thread yet.

I still haven't gotten a cabin # and don't expect one until 3 weeks out but am praying for the upgrade fairy to sprinkle some pixie dust my way.

Does anyone here already know their cabin #?

I have started to try to make door magnets. I am off to buy some magnetic paper. If they come out ok, I'll try to post some here. I am a functionally illiterate computer user, so they may be lame and completely unprofessional looking. They will, however, help me find my cabin after too many Bahama Mamas.

I'm functionally illiterate on the computer, too. My door signs are about as low-tech as you can get. I'm always impressed at the creativity of some people's door signs.

Yes, we know our cabin number. We're up on deck 8 directly below the Goofy pool. Its a "noisy" cabin. But since we're doing back-to-back cruises and wanted to keep the same room we had little choice on what was available.

Gonecruisin.....keeping fingers crossed for an upgrade. The people I cruised with last year on the 3-night did get upgrades.

wow, what a busy week! well the test was a little hard, there was math on it, who knows why??? anyway that was to much for me, i think i had to guess on 1/2 the answers. other than that the rest of the test was easy. well i just have to wait now for the results, (wish me luck).

ski- i'm glad your out of the boot, you probabally have a wrap on like i did. i still wear one when my ankle bothers me. hopefully you will be 100% fixed!!
what beach are you going too?? we only make it down to Sandy Hook.

gonecruisin- i also know our cabin #. we are on deck 2. we have a porthole view. where can i buy magnetic paper?? at Micheals, A.C. Moore, maybe?? i was just using pain paper.

well we ordered our t-shirts for pirate night. when they come in , (hopefully) i will post them. it has Mickey in front of swords, he is wearing a Cpt. Jack pirate hat. it cute.the back has our last name. mine will say postalcop in lime green in small wrighting under the year. dh's will say semper fi- thats for the USMC. well when i find this magenenetic paper, we will start with the door magenets!!

Things have been crazy around here too, I've been trying to keep up with my pretrip report and the kids being out of school and all that! Welcome to the new posters! We got our cabin number already and are at the first dining time. It IS coming fast! We went to the beach last night and I was telling dh, wait till we get to CC and how luxurious it will be compared to NE waters

Hello everyone,

let me tell you a little about us. I am a mother of a 8yr old (Isaiah) and 4yr old (Daniel) we travel ever year with my cousin from new york who also has kids the same age. we have been to costa rico and Dominican Republic. we came to disney world when my son was only two months.. and have some great pictures of him in his stroller sleep. Lol

anyway Isaiah and his cousin Ari are celebrating there birthday. They where born a year apart on the same day. what a surprise to find out my closes cousin had her daughter the same day I had my son. I am trying to make the cruise and very memorable experience for all the kids AND MOM. I have read alot about the doors and i have attempted to make a few. after we get off the ship we are staying at animal kingdom lodge, so i will be away from work for two weeks.

dont know what else to say but, 54 days left and it can't get here soon enough. HAVE A HAPPY 4th OF JULY!

I bought magnetic paper at Staples. $14.99 for 4 sheets!!!! Yikes!
I plan on doing some practice prints on reg paper before using the magnetic paper. Haven't quite gotten that far yet, though. These short weeks can be a blessing and a curse ---- you just end up doing 5 days of work in 4 days.

This is why I need a vacation.

I also purchased the magnetic paper at staples and would not fit thru staples copy machine or kinko's so i am laminting images on sticky paper will cut them out and stick on magnet sheets and PRESTO! i was attempting to put a picture out there of my boys. but states i have to post atleast 10 replies. i am at number 8. lol

Mpaulin you are tooooo funny!! Great posts... I really enjoyed them. You will get the hang of it the more you do it. I am a newbie, too. If I can do it, anyone can!

Adorable boys! They are at a perfect age for this cruise.
Mine are older and more jaded about a Disney cruise --- DD 20 Jill and DS 16 Tim. DD is looking forward to it but DS has only said "Whatever" so far. This is unlike any vacation we have ever taken before. I really think they are in for a surprise.

thanks- i would have never guessed Staples!!! $14.99 seems to high for me. i will see. we do have a laminator, so that is a possibilaty, also. i should have dh help me but him and ds are way to busy playing Wii.. OMG!!

Mpaulin- hope you get an awsome cabin, how come you dont have it picked out, yet? i picked mine the 1st night.

piersgirl- glad to to see you back. i know what you mean about the water. i was expecting blue ocean in Myrtle beach.. but it looked like the Jersey shore to me??? who knows i guess it was all the rain. but i am looking fwd. to CC also.. we have 1st seeting also.
i requested seating for dinning rotation AP, P & T. does anyone know if they will give us that or will they reasign when we board?

hello.. when we made our package planned we picked cat 12.. but after reading so many reviews, forums, etc... i am hoping we are upgraded since this is our first cruise. i can always dream

Postalcop.....good luck with your test. When do you get the results?

I, too, get my magnetic paper at Staples. I think Walmart has the cheapest prices but Staples is closer to me and with gas prices where they are its not worth it to drive farther to save a few pennies.

I've never requested a dining rotation. I know its been said on the DIS boards that DCL does have some method to how families are assigned a rotation but we've been all over the place in our own experience.

I'd be really surprised if everyone does not get a cabin upgrade. You all booked enough in advance so DCL needs to move people around.

Finished my first week of physical therapy. Its all very confusing to me. I'm back to normal doing some things and in extreme pain doing other things. Yet pain is part of the normal healing process. So I have pain from being cut open and pain from being immobilized for 8 weeks.

But the ankle itself is repaired. That's the best news of all.

Both kids are away next week with their camp. I've always joked that if both kids were ever away at camp that I would be drunk for a week. So here comes my chance and I have to go out and do physical therapy three times a week.

I will be so ready to party come cruise time.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July. How great that it falls on a Friday this year!!!! We're going to see WallE on Friday then my family comes over on Saturday to celebrate DD's birthday.
