8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

Willem - the meet is scheduled for 3:00 in the Promenade lounge. If you lunch at parrot cay, it makes it very easy - since it is right there. I was thinking of lunching around 2, and then heading to the meet. That way we can explore/swim, etc. beforehand. Hope you can make it!!!'

OK - here's a riddle - what is this?

It's me - doing my happy dance because my docs are here!!!!:yay:

I am too excited now!! Made what i am sure will be the first of many trips to Wally world for stuff. Somehow that was $80???? I will never figure out how I manage that.

Formal night - Which night is that? For me and DD - likely a dress or skirt and blouse. Dh I am thinking a long sleeved dress shirt. Not sure I'll get him into the jacket and tie but I may give it a shot. he doesn;t like to wear ties without jackets, so we'll see. DS - loves to wear a tie.

Now - about priate night - i am late seating. Last time we were at Palo before pirate night, so it was easy. But this time, since pirate night is Monday, will we have to rush through dinner? I am thinking skip dessert and head to the buffet for dessert after the party.

What else are we missing?

Hi Everyone, haven't posted for months since so much has gone wrong with the wedding! :) We're packing now though ~ can you help us out, we know the meet is at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge, but no idea which day :)

Thanks for the info! Will try to make it. Could you tell me what's in your DCL travel booklet? It looks like one page is missing in ours. Also our transfer info was a bit unclear, luckily our wonderful TA sorted it all out for us. Am really happy about her service, they make it so easy for first-timers. :)
So we'll stick with shirt & tie for dress up night.
Was also in doubt about pirate night, since we've late seating too. But don't really have an idea about what pirate night is actually. Have seen pics of Mickey and fireworks, wouldn't wanna miss that.
One more question: Is Nassau a good place for shopping? And how are prices there?
Many questions now but our trip is coming really close too :)

Details, details!! Just kidding - it is on Sunday as we board.

My cruise book has info for transfers (which we are not using), the cruise contract, the tipping recommendations, payment authoriztion, departure form. It does look like the first page of perforation is missing on mine - is that what you mean?

Pirate night starts with a little dance party on the goofy pool, a bit of a "show", and then the fireworks, followed by a buffet on deck. I think it starts around 9:30.

Nassau is ok for shopping depending on what you want to get. The prices are about the same as in the State - so no big savings for us - but you will get the benefit of the weak dollar. The straw market is good for some knock-offs and cheasy souveniers.

We do love del sol and always stop there.

We leave 2 weeks from today!!! We're driving down (from Western NY)....with an overnight stop to visit friends in S. Carolina. Then we are spending 2 nights in a suite at AKL. then...off to the Wonder!!!

My kids (11, 9, 8, 1 and 1) still have no idea that we're doing back-to-back cruises. They only know about the 4-day. They also have no idea that we're picking up their 20 yr old cousin to join us on the 3-day cruise.

I'm not sure that I'll be able to join you for the Dis-meet at 3pm. I know my older 3 kids will be on deck 9 (with their Dad). If the babies aren't asleep, I may be able to pop in with them. If I can, though, I'm going to try and get them down for a nap before the lifeboat drill. If I don't see you there, I won't be too hard to spot throughout the cruise. I'll be that crazy lady pushing a double stroller with 14 month old identical twin girls...chasing after 3 other kids, I'm sure. Be sure to say hi...

I can't wait!!!!
Jess

Thanks for all the info!

In the booklet we recieved, there's no tipping info, payment authorisation, contract or departure form. However I already did the on line checkin a few weeks ago. Maybe that makes a difference?
At what time are the fireworks on pirate night? Would we have finished our meal by then? And is the buffet better then the desserts on the menu? Cause in that case we might skip dessert too...
Yeah we really want to do some shopping because of the weak dollar, but in the US we won't see anything else then the airport and WDW :)
BTW, Raspberry Bubbles, I hope everything is ok for the wedding now? Wedding at Disney must be wonderful!

I was looking for this to print (I'm bad with names), then thought I'd post with our real identities. CoachRick - thanks for keeping this updated!!!

Jess,

We are staying at AKL before the cruise as well. We are staying club level, so maybe I'll see you in the lounge. It is just me, DH and DS11. I will most likely have a lime-green Mickey someplace on my backpack or handbag to identify me as a Dis'er. Please say "hi" if you see us.

We got our cruise docs today! I'm not sure why this is exciting...but it is! I'm a bit confused about filling out those forms and checking in online. But I'll do both just to make sure.

We leave San Francisco on the 10th and head to WDW! Can't wait!!!

Cyndi - if you have not filled them out online before they mail, they send you everything. Just go on and fill them out and then print out the ones it says to print to sign at the port. Then you are good to go!

Willem - that must be it - last time, we didn;t get all this stuff, but I was better at filling out ahead of time.

Everyone else - let's start getting excited!!!!!

Well, we'll be at AKV Concierge starting on the 14th. I don't plan on doing the parks too much. Mostly want to relax before leaving for the port Sunday morning at 11 AM via Ace... 7 Thursday and Friday, 11 of us on Saturday...See you there..:cool1:

Only 10 days to go before we leave now!!! Just checked the times for our travel: have to take the train to the airport here at 5AM, will arive at MCO 18 hours later. :s (Hope we'll be able to sleep on the plane...)
Have reservations for Chef Mickey's that night, hope we'll still be ok. It's a tradition to go to a character dinner as soon as we arrive in a Disney resort, so HAVE to do that :)

WOW 18 hours, and I complain about 2 hours 15 minutes..:lmao: Never mind the sleep, I hope you get to eat on the plane...that is an awful long to time to wait to eat with a Mouse. :lmao:

Very cool. We've only stayed 1 night at AKL and it poured. So, we're looking forward to experriencing it a bit more this time. Plus, we figured the 'zero entry' pool would be nice for the twins and conceirge is wonderful when you have 5 kids. Heck, everytime we buy a drink for everyone, it's $20. Add in free breakfast and conceirge quickly becomes an affordable option.

It's coming fast now...
Jess

Yeah...we're only goin to the parks untl just after lunch both days. We're mostly going early to enjoy the resort and start our vacation as early as possible.

Aren't you doing back-to-back too? Like I said, my kids only know about the first cruise...but DH and I are very excited to have 7 days on the ship. We did it this way (instead of a 7 day) for a few resons. 1) Magic isn't in Florida now. 2) Our niece can join us for the 2nd cruise and 3) For each cruise, be it 3, 4 or 7, you can pre-book 10 nursery hours. So, by doing a 4, then a 3, we actually get to prebook 20 nursery hours. That gives the babies much more time to get down on the floor and play with some toys (instead of sitting in a stroller).

Jess

:) We're getting used to it. The record is 24h, so we can live with 18 :)
Luckily there will be two meals served on our flight to Newark, then we can have something at the airport there before we get our second flight to MCO. Hope Continental had good meals, it's the first time we fly with them. Last year we went to Tokyo with Air France, they had really good food, like in a nice French restaurant :)

5lilfish, back to back cruises sounds wonderful! And I laughed at your description of you with the stroller chasing your other 3 kids! You are obviously really blessed with all these children! And 1 yr old twins..you are brave! But you've obviously thought of the perfect solution to cruising for 7 days but maximizing your nursery hours...good job!

Willem, I haven't flown with Continental but Air France does have good meals! I flew to Spain last year with Air France and I was very impressed with their service and food. I flew to Japan in the 1980's for a vacation, it took me 15 hours flying time to get to Narita Airport and I thought I was going to go crazy! So I'm glad my flight to Orlando only takes 2 hours and 45 minutes. I love your tradition re the character dinner...that would really get you into the Disney mood!

We're staying at the CBR after the cruise until the Monday. I always hate coming off the ship and then flying back home and getting right back into reality. We thought we'd put a little space between the luxury and pampering of the Wonder and real life by spending a few days at WDW. Plus with the airfares these days, I thought we might as well spend some time going to the parks since we were down there anyway.

Well be spending 2 nights at the Beach Club after they kick us off the ship for the same reason as you Lynda.

We're spending 1 night at Polynesian conceirge after the 3-day cruise. The day we get off the ship we're going to Hollywood Studios and the next day we'll go to Magic Kingdom (and then start toward home). It's a major on-the-go experience. We wouldn't even be doing it, but it's a special opportunity for the kids to do some rides with their 20 yr old cousin. I want to take advantage of that.
