8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

My plan is to sign up DS for the Wild Side for the first CC day and then all of us do the fishing excursion on the second CC day.

Is the fishing excursion a morning or afternoon trip?

Or your DH can wear a button down shirt (no tie needed) and get away without needing a jacket at all. He can pair that with any pair of pants and still look "dressy".

That's what I was planning on doing with our family too. Sign up the kids for the Wild Side for first CC, and for the second CC either DH & I will do brunch or I will take DS fishing. In the past, the fishing excursion was both in the morning and afternoon. Hard choice becasue I love the brunch, and the guys will be in the Keys the week before our trip as a family. So my DS will have a week of fishing, snorkling, sailing, etc. When I gave hin the choice of going to Seaword the day we get off the ship or fishing, he picked fishing.

As for the jacket question...you could do what we did last year. Pack all the stuff for semi-formal night and miss it. The kids were having so much fun at the Atlantis Resort, we didn't rush back to the ship for dinner. Had a lovely dinner at Topsiders though. The dining rooms are getting very casual anyway but I agree with Ski-and-Sea, and he'll be fine.

I am really struggling with what to do about Palo brunch. I've never done it and really want to but that means missing time on CC. :confused3

What to do....what to do.....what to do.....ugh.

What is the earliest time you can do brunch?

Hi,
I'll reintroduce myself. My name is Kari, my family will be cruising. It will be me (31), Dan (DH 33), Connor (DS 6) and Alice (DD 3). We have the late seating and are waitlisted for the early one. This will be our first cruise. We'll be staying at AKV the week before the cruise.

I think DS and DH are going to do the Stingray experience on one of the CC days.

Hi all,
We didn't really think about excursions yet. We're waiting for our Passporter to arrive, maybe that will give us some ideas.
Are back from DLRP again. Had a great time, the sun was there and there was a special fireworks for Saint Davids day. It had the soundtrack from Fantasmic. We made a short video of it : http://youtube.com/watch?v=wnzh04-aYjI

Hi everyone,
Welcome to the thread, Kari!

I was wondering about the Palo brunch as well because I've never done that either. But as you've said, Sea-and-Ski, the big decision is whether to sacrifice time on Castaway Cay or not.

We haven't made any decisions re excursions either.

Willem, awesome video re Disneyland Paris! It must have been incredible to actually be there! Thanks for sharing!

We really got whomped with snow (again!) today so Castaway Cay and Nassau are looking better and better!

Welcome Kari.

Great video Willem. Boy, YouTube is really global.

We got whomped with plenty of rain from that storm. But there is talk of a nor-easter this weekend.

I think brunch starts at 10 AM.

I need more days on the ship. Not enough time.

Willem, you are making us all jealous!

It's warm one day, it's cold one day, it rains, it flurries...I'm ready for the summer!!!!!!

Yes, I think we're getting this new storm Friday night and it will last into Saturday. A friend of mine said that he refuses to shovel any more; he's just going to drive over all the snow and hope that we get some warmer temperatures so that it melts before too long. I just keep envisioning the palm trees, the white sand and the turquoise water while I'm heaving snow over the gigantic snow banks lining my driveway!

All of our storms seem to originate in Texas so we're going to have to tell those folks to do something to nip them in the bud before they travel so far north!

We had a small dismeet here and there was one lady who was going on the repo cruise that leaves the same day as we do. She had some photos from the Mediterranean cruise that were absolutely beautiful!

Its been one heck of a crazy winter on the east coast, weatherwise. Its like Mother Nature can't make up her mind.....hot...cold....hot....cold...hot...cold.

At least we haven't had any of those ice storms we had last winter.....several inches of solid ice that fell as a single gigantic block of ice on the ground. Ugh.

Mini DIS meets are fun.....almost went to one two years ago but it was early on a Sunday morning and it was a long drive for us. I think its the same group of DISers who were on the 2005 PC repo cruises who went on the Med cruises last summer who are back again on the PC repo cruises this summer.

All DCL needs to do to fill up a ship is ask these people where they want to sail.

Also being from Maryland, I agree the weather has been wacky. I can't believe how little of snow we've had in two years. Oh well.

It would be fun to do a Dis Meet. I know the ones that got together in two years ago had lots of fun. I too wish I could have made it. We were also invited to one that year right before the cruise near WDW. We just couldn't get away from the mouse to meet.

I hope for this cruise we start hearing from a few more families.

Closing in on 24 hours with no power. We had buckets of rain Friday night and all day Saturday and Sat night.

Local rivers crested their banks and trees down everywhere which closed many of the roads.

Best investment ever was a generator - which is why I can still use my computer right now.

Here in Belgium we have some storms aswell today, but that's nothing compared to what you are telling here. Luckily we never have conditions like that here.
However today there was a train strike again, so had to wait for one hour and then board a way too full train. Hope it will be better to go home.

Sea-and-Ski, hope you get your power back soon! You were a smart cookie, though, getting a generator!

Willem, I have a friend who lives in Switzerland who told me that he hasn't had to shovel once this winter! I was so jealous! We don't have too many train strikes but the train service certainly deteriorates in the winter. Often they tell us that there's problems because of the cold weather but our response is that it's not a valid excuse when we live in Canada where cold weather is a certainty every year!

Dizzyworld, we are the same in that we haven't had much snow in the past few year. But we are sure making up for it now! This past weekend was a doozie; waist high snow again. But now the temps are supposed to be getting warmer (which goes back to our comments re hot, cold, hot, cold, etc) so flooding is now a big worry. We are all just focusing on the fact that it's March now so there must be a light at the end of the tunnel!

Those are the worst. Sometimes there are transit strikes in New York City and its such an inconvenience for everyone. We should be promoting people to take mass transit, not drive them away.

Finally got the power restored. Twenty four hours later almost to the minute.

Funny story.....my neighbors are away on vacation and heard about the storm so they called in a panic. They asked us to turn on their portable generator so the heat runs in their house.

So we go to their house and find out the portable generator weighs a ton and is near impossible to move even though its on wheels. DH finally manages to maneuver the thing outside when suddenly the lights turn on.

What a laugh - cause he had to turn around and wheel the thing back inside.

Had more luck on my way back, many trains were cancelled but not the one i needed. Sounds terrible to be without electricity. Can't imagine what we would have to do. Are without power during one hour about once every two years here and even that's like a disaster for us :)

Thought you might all like to take a break from winter, and enjoy what is only 159 days away!

Bumping us up.......

Where is the time going?????? Middle of March already?????

I'm with ya...just two months before I can start making my Palo ressies at the 105 day mark.:thumbsup2

I say this as I lay here sick as a dog with some upper respiratory thing:sick: wondering if I will be better by then. :lmao:

Thats why I have been hanging around the webcams. ;)
