Ok, considering that I am trying to tread water in this group of DIS Board legends, I need a little advice for a newbie--

How do you all keep track of where the discussion was when you left? :confused3

I think I read somewhere about someone maybe bookmarking the page and coming back to it. When I come back I usually just drop back five pages and start reading from there, but at the pace this thread is moving I don't think I have ever gone back over posts I have already seen!!!

This thread has surpassed 1400 posts and reservations are not even open yet. We should start a pool on just how many posts hit this thread on January 31st!!! If just everyone who has posted here once drops in to comment on what happened with reservations it could be a pretty big number--and there are many whom I am guessing could have over 10 posts to this thread just on the 31st.

I will have to think about my number a little bit and as we get closer maybe bring this up again. Just think, if everyone who joined in the pool agreed to buy a drink for the winner, given the number of DIS board members looking to get on this repo, the winner could walk around the entire 15 days with a drink in their hand and still have a relatively modest tab on the way out!! (Guess I am dream about lounging pool-side or on CC with drink in hand--cold and snow covered here today.)

And, hopefully to not get myself in trouble with the DIS board moderators, any drink would not necessarily have to contain alcohol and would not for any participant below the age of 21. No purchase is necessary to participate. Agreeing to participate does not obligate the participant to buy a drink for the winner; it is only a suggestion. The game is intended for the amusement of participants only and should not be considered the endorsement of gambling or games of chance. And, any of that other small print that you see attached to the these types of things is herein and hereby incorporated by reference as if fully stated in its entirety.

(I may not make a great pirate, but could act as the pirate equivalent of consigliere--never know if Captain Jack or the crew will need to get out of the brig!!)

Yes the Captain may need the assistance of someone to get him out of the mouse brig after pirate night:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

In reference to your question----and remember I am computer illiterate-----I bookmark the page on favorites and then refresh and begin reading. Most of the time however this has been so fast paced that I just leave the screen up and keep coming back.

Okay if Lisa and Susan do not come home today we need to send search parties. ------Did someone say PARTY??????   Its been a long time. Were we offensive -----no she's a mod she would have shut us down. Do we stink-----pirates always stink, don't they? What could it possibly be? See its true!!!The mouse hitmen came to her door and threatened her to never be able to cruise again if she uttered a word of her knowledge to us. She is in danger of loosing her repossession cabin and is therefore obeying. We must rescue her. :surfweb: :thumbsup2

Wow! I knew I should of called my friend on the cell phone last night instead of the house phone! You guys went way past the page number on my sticky!:rotfl:

Glad to see that Capt Crash is safe. Andy & Hazel sorroy for your loss. I hope that DisneyVegas1's headache is gone.

Also DisneyVegas1 thanks for mentioning the other airports in CA. It's been 19 years since I've been to CA and my Mom and I flew into LAX. It was a trip, we had to walk for miles to baggage. Than we rented a car and drove up to Lompoc to vist her bf and former roommate. We also picked up another friend in Pasadena. I'm doing all the driving. (Don't have a clue except a map!) I wanted to see the Hollywood sign and somehow we ended up at a Mickey D's in Burbank! My mom had lived in LA back in the 50's and as we are driving around she kept saying," Gosh, I don't remember these mountains being here!" No, Ma they brought them in just for today!

I never did get to go to Disneyland.:sad2:

Oh, ladies they aren't hot flashes, they are private vacations in the tropics! Not that I would know...I'm still too young for AARP membership!

I was wondering, too, hoe you all kept track of where you were. I'd just jump in and start adding and subtracting pages until I found something I hadn't read before.

Captain Crash- A couple of years ago we were evacuated from our cabin in the mountains here in Ariaona. It looked like a huge black storm was descending on us. I was glued to the news for the next couple of days. It managed to get less than 1/2 mile from our cabin before it got stopped. The fire was like 40 miles in width- they were fighting it from all sides. It sounded like a freight train coming at us when we left. There's a ton of very dedicated and brave people out there fightingg these fires. To lose a cabin is one thing, I couldn't imagine one's own home.

Okay- I'm going to start experimenting adding more substance to this very bland look on my posts. Wish me luck!! :cheer2: I do love all these smiley things.

Oh- and Hazel- so sorry for your loss. Been a year like that for us here, too. Lost a SIL, BIL, and sister within the year. All in their 50's.

Same here. I never "turn off" my computer I choose "stand by" which is less wear and tear on the computer and this won't close any programs you have open like Internet Explorer (sorry the computer geek is coming out in me).

I leave one browser window open for this thread so I know where I left off. The rest just requires a lot of coffee :surfweb: and speed reading.

I can tell you one method but this only works is you read to the end of the thread each time......

After you have posted to a thread it is higlighted in your UserCP.

If you click on the little blue arrow next to the thread it takes you to the first post since you were at the thread before.......

(sometimes it gets a littl quirky though)

Good Morning!

Sharon, I just missed you last night. I had a headache, too and signed out early. Headache still isn't gone.....must be time for new glasses. Whoo hoo. Not.

Crash.....glad you're safe and all is better on your end. I hope!

Judy.....your doggie is darling!!! But the grooming....yeow!

I would LOVE to have a better pirate costume.....mine makes me look like the gal in the POC attraction......and no, NOT the redhead!!

Nice. Big fan of Nemo and Crush. Very funny.

Couldn't agree more. Crash glad to hear all appears well.

I don't know how you find the time to post when Hades is breathing down your neck.

My compliments on nmaking the 1400th posting!

Well, if you must know...

... a GOOD PIRATE knows how to cultivate attention from the "hottest" supernatural creatures... as I believe it was actually Eris, Goddess of ******* who was breathing down my neck! She's not as hot in skin temperature as Hades but she is perhaps a bit hotter comparatively as a hottie! OK... she's a hottie with a rotten attitude... definately NOT the kind to bring home to Mama!

Good morning fellow pirate neighbors and far flung mates on the early watch!

Look on the top left of any page (in the blue bar). It says "View first unread". That takes you to the first post you haven't seen. How does the computer know this?? Magic, I think.

Not to mention the highlight of the summer - The Moose Dropping Festival - think small town festival with this:
"Saturday afternoon: Head to the VFW for the Moose Drop Dropping – a raffle sponsored by the VFW. Don't be late! (If you are on "Talkeetna Time", all you will get to watch is the kids and dogs kicking moose droppings around.) Shellacked and numbered moose poop is hauled up in the air in a net and then dropped on a bullseye. Raffle numbers correspond to numbers on moose poop. Winners include the closest and farthest from the bullseye. Sounds like not-much-fun but it is a highlight of the day!"

And this:
"The Mountain Mother Contest. The only requirement was that the contestant be a mom – married or not. And it would be in the summer, when the kids could watch how hard their moms worked. And it would be more realistic. So the feats are (done with a 20 lb. "baby" in a pack on their backs and wearing hip waders): walk a log carrying 2 grocery bags, "shoot" a balloon moose with a bow and arrow, "catch" a fish, chop up firewood, change the baby and wash out the diaper, make a "pie" and call the kids in for supper. Winner got some useful things, like an appointment at the local beauty shop for a hair cut, manicure and massage; a nice dinner out; gift certificates from the local shops. And a nice warm jacket with "Mountain MAMA!" on the back."
I just love a town with a sense of humor!

Glad you & yours are OK, Crash!

We'll be hitting page 100 before we know it!!!;)

I am the totally boring bookkeeper/owner of an ornamental iron business. He gets to do all the creative work.....I handle the numbers. And I am a landlady. Not very many "usable" skills, sorry!

Water Meter Reader here for the past 28 years, oh, it's such an exciting job, NOT!!!!! :rolleyes1

But, it does pay good, and we have excellent benefits, our township takes good care of it's employees. :goodvibes

Speaking of landlady duties....have to sign off and type an eviction notice.

I totally understand Lisa stepping away. I haven't gotten much done since the "announcement" was made!!
I may have to back off a little, too...........

Hey....found a gaggle of lawyers!
