If you collected 50 widgets last year, and this year you start all over again and collect 150 widgets - what is the percentage of the increase? 200% ??? 150% ??? 300% ????

200% - the first fifty don't count - that brings you even. The next fifty is 100% and the second fifty brings it to 200%

Suppose a quantity has an initial value of x1, and then increases or decreases to a final value of x2.

The percent change, D%, is calculated by finding the difference x2 - x1 (subtracting the initial value from the final value), then dividing the result of this subtraction by x1 (the initial value), and finally multiplying by 100. Expressed as a formula:

D% = 100 (x2 - x1) / x1

If x2 > x1 (the final value is larger than the initial value, representing an increase in the variable quantity), then D% is a positive number.

If x2 < x1 (the final value is smaller than the initial value, representing a decrease), then D% is a negative number.

Ok...I'm confused...

What exactly happened to the 1st 50 "collected" widgets that resulted in starting all over again and not counting? Sounds like a female ploy to collect more widgets than one needs...I think we need to reduce the widget allotment to a 100% increase in year two. :lmao:

STOP!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW- Math's hard!

A train (T) leaves Chicago at 8am (Tt) bound for Miami.

A car (C) leaves Las Vegas at 9am (Ct) bound for Dallas.

A missile (M) is launched from the Kauai Test Facility at 3am (Mt) bound for the Kwajalein Atoll.

At what time (BFt) does Lorri bash your face in? ;)

:lmao:

Gracie is a Grey Ghost. A Weimeraner.
Here's a picture.

I love Weimeraners! Do you like William Wegman's pictures? I have a framed poster from a show of us at the Whitney in my hallway, and I've met him and two of his dogs before (I met Batty and Chundo).

HI Everyone!
Just fot home from work a little while ago. Ordering Chinese for dinner:)

This is what was confusing us. It is the starting over again part.

We were talking about annual donors to our organization at a certain level, so just because they donated above a certain $ level one year, doesn't guarantee they will do it again in Year 2. So we have to earn them all over again in year 2. Donors are not like shoes.

So say we had 50 donors who contributed at least $1 in Year 1
and 150 donors who contributed at least $1 in Year 2
What is the percentage of increase?

200%, right?

(just so you don't think I am totally pathetic, you can add several zeros after the $1 - our operating budget is low, but significantly more than $150!!)

I graduated from college 1st in my class with a math degree and I still can't help these kids now. Problem is they never needed help before so I haven't kept up with the way they are learning. If I have to help I would have to start all over at the beginning. It isn't the answer that is the problem, it is how they go about getting to the answer. Seems to me as long as you get to the answer it should be correct. I wonder how the teachers would feel if we told them they don't get their paychecks because they incorrectly estimated their hours for the week.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Has anyone ever "self-adjusted" their spine? (I mean like BIG TIME!!!!)

I woke up this morning and my low back was hurting. I was sitting here a few minutes ago, and I twisted in my chair, and POP!!! My back popped REALLY loudly!! I thought "Oh crap! That's either really good, or really bad!!"
And it was good! It felt really good when it happened, but I was afraid that maybe it would hurt afterwards...But it feels so much better!! :thumbsup2
And to think I could have paid a chiropractor hundreds of dollars to do that!! :lmao: :lmao:

isn't that the greatest?? it does feel so good. i'm always afraid though that i'm going to do something to mess my spine up...but so far so good!

My dad is a pretty serious golfer...he was looking into the course at Cabo. Do you think your dh would be interested in that?
my dh would prob love it! he however is not a very serious golfer...he only gets out a few times a year...
in fact, he was supposed to leave on a trip for myrtle beach this am, but since my gpa is still in the hospital, he decided to stay home. he's lucky to get in maybe 5 games of golf during the summer...but he does have fun with it.

My husband buys and sells golf clubs on a weekly basis. He is looking for just the right set that is going to perfect his game. :sad2: He also said before he left for work, "I'm stopping at the golf range on the way home okay honey?" Um sure honey isn't that what you do almost every single day after work? Does that give you an idea of how much he loves to golf? He'd love to set up a tee time with your DH either before or after the cruise. We are actually going to visit my sister about an hour north of WDW, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind taking a little detour. He's golfed a couple of the courses at WDW & thought they were great.

that sounds great! i'll let him know. as i said before, my dh gave up a trip to myrtle beach this week...and i'm feeling kinda bad. i'd love to tell him he'll be able to golf on our trip to disney!!

"Sir, you are too stupid to be buying things for yourself."

:wizard:

:thumbsup2

I was at CompUSA recently and this couple were asking the sales rep if a particular computer came with the new Windows Vista. To his credit, the sales weenie didn't run them out of the store but instead said, "Sir, this is a Mac computer! They run MacOS which is based on Linux. You'd only be crippling it!" :sad2:

Chundo is in the Alphabet Soup video. Yes, I know my kids have known their alphabet for years, but we all think the video is hilarious.

And then I'll be on the day you get off. We should hide secret messages or something. :rotfl:

It's 3 of you staggered over 3 consecutive cruises?
That would be awesome! You'll have to let us all know how it goes if you end up doing it! Sounds like young fun! :thumbsup2

BTW, "young fun" is a term that we and some friends of ours (with whom we get together on a regular basis to play cards) came up with because we were lamenting on one such evening how playing cards was such "old fun", and when the heck did we stop having "young fun"?!?!? :sad1:

We vowed that we would always be in search of "young fun"!!! :rotfl:

We love that video too (and yes we all know our alphabet) . . .

Yes, Andrew UK and someone else (I always forget -- sorry) are on the Med cruise before me, and Monica and the Captain are on the Med repo after me . . . I think it would be great "young fun" to try to successfully hide messages for each other that the cleaning crews don't manage to find and get rid of!

That's too easy. "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Buggles. Have that on my iPod too.

:wizard:

I was already told that I got that answer correct & my prize was cake! How much damn cake will I have to share before this night is over???

'Afternoon Everyone :surfweb:

Just checking in for some quick ketchup before my hair appt.

Well, got to cut out (yuk, yuk). Here's hoping I get the right color. Sometimes I do, sometimes, I don't :confused3 :confused3

I believe Mary Ann is referring to her hair appt. she mentioned in a previous post. Hence the pun about having to cut..."yuk yuk".

Diane....that was sooooo funny!

Absolutely hysterical:rotfl2: Thanks for the link.

Oh my word Diane, I laughed so hard Hazel came running from the other room to see what all the racket was about, that clip was soooooooooooo funny!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Glad you all liked the clip. Isn't she hysterical? Especially the part when she says..."Listen I'll be honest with ya...I love Jesus, but I drink a little!" Cracked me up! :rotfl2:

Okay off to do the dishes & watch AI! TTFN!

OK, time to head home...
I'm going to TRY to make it back on here this evening after dinner and Survivor...We'll see. ;)

Now I want that video. I have never seen the video but I do have a few of his books and I always get the calendars. Esteri, raises Weims. They are awesome dogs.
