Thanks to everyone that responded. I'm just not dealing with it well. It's affected my tongue also and now water or even my saliva tastes salty all the time. Nothing tastes like it should. I'm starving right now but can't bring myself to eat. I'm having trouble eating too because one side of my mouth doesn't work.
It's beyond annoying. I tried to cheer myself up by baking a cake last night- I can't even taste CHOCOLATE! It tastes salty! That's almost the lowest blow of all......

My Tinkerbell MP3 (no iPOD for me, but DS has one) is charging right now. Found it in the bottom of my purse and was getting excited that I could play along too. But then it was dead. Maybe later. But I'm not even sure I have 10 songs on it??

I have the DVD, too -- and the DVDs of POTC I and II! When you watch the DVD of JC Superstar it is hard not to compare the voices to the original Bway cast (which I was of course far too young to see, but that's what I have on my iPod) . . . IMO, some are better on the Bway soundtrack but others are better in the movie . . .

Yet another story I really shouldn't tell. You guys are gonna think I'm a loon. But....
The last time we bought a new washer and dryer, they told me to go buy a cord also. So I did.
Before they came to install them, my mother was visiting and she said "Maybe you better check and make sure that's the right cord". So we went into the laundry room and I plugged in the cord, which was still partially wrapped up around itself. I got the shock of my life!
DH said it was lucky I wasn't killed. It did temporarily blind me. My dad wanted to take me to the ER, but I told him there was no way in H.E. double hockey sticks I was walking into an ER and admitting how stupid I was.
Just see if I ever listen to my mother again.

Have you seen a doctor yet?
Have you had a CT scan of your head?

What you describe sounds like Bell's Palsey, but a stroke needs to be ruled out. It affects the 7th cranial nerve on one side of your body, it usually occurs days to weeks after an upper respiratory infection involving the ears. The 7 cranial nerve travels through the middle ear and inerviates the face, the upper eye lid, the mouth muscles and provides some taste sensation in the toungue.

Steroids help limit the length of Bells Palsey, but it can take 2-4 weeks to
resolve.

Also a Lyme disease titre should be drawn. Lyme disease can present as Bell's palsey.
