Thank you Andrew -- you already know how I feel about London, and my oldest daughter is a huge Anglophile. I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up living in the UK one day.

Anglophile....good word. That's what I'm going to start calling my ds. I think it's because of all of the movies he watches...Harry Potter, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, POTC, Narnia.....he just loves to speak with a British accent.

My four-year-old does that too. We, too blame the HP movies and the audiobooks I listen to with her in the car. She'll say something and we'll look at her and say "Rebecca, you're not British, you know". She also has a Boston accent for some words -- and she's never been to Boston.

Sometimes I wonder....

Now for my GS story..............
I told Brooke this needed to be a cash vacation and this would also be first time for her being able to sign her name to charge things. We saw Brent everyday always with a smile. Even if another GS was helping us he made a point to talk with us. Asked about our day joked with Brooke about signing her name alot.

Well middle of cruise a nice card came in our fish mail to Brooke. He drew mickey ears on it and even typed her name on inside of card. He gave her a 10.00 arcade card just to make her cruise a little bit more fun & magical. Here is a picture of Brooke & Brent.

Some like these?? I spent a week before cruise talking my DD into trying the mango soup. Ohhhhh I couldn't wait for it. They didn't have it but no fret they had strawberry soup instead and boy was that yummy.

How about the lovely safety drill pic.:rotfl2:

DW wanted me to ask if any single (adult) guys were coming along? DSIL will celebrate her 33rd birthday on 8/31 -- the last night of the cruise -- and DW is looking for someone to perhaps occupy her time (as opposed to fawning over DS)

Well, it sounds like Diane's husband might be available if he doesn't watch his step...

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

Well thanks for the offer but I think DSIL may have to pass on that fine "catch"!

She's a dear but she's rather shy and we figured the cruise would be a safe enough environment for her to hang with someone...

Besides, if he's on the cruise that meets one of her new requirements for a guy: must like to travel

Some of the others would be Must not be a jagoff, must have a job (or be a serious student), must like children and must not think himself to be the "Saviour of the World" if he has a job in public saftey/law enforcement/EMT/etc! (If you can't tell, her last guy was a bit of a jerk and a jack-of-all-trades firefighter/EMT/constable/TSA goon)

Ooooooh, I am feeling the love! You should have the shirts by the end of the week, Shelley!

Thank you so very much!

She posted over the weekend that she wouldn't be around much. Someone coming into town, blah, blah, blah, real life things to do. Maybe if we all call her, she'll appear.

Judy! Judy! Judy!

(Did it work?)
:lmao:

Thanks....I'm going to check that out!

Good for you.......I had a similar situation once at Lowes. Dh had been out of town for a couple of weeks, so I had been doing the single parent thing. I was stressed and tired. I had my ds who was 5 at the time and my dd who was 1. She was sitting in the front of the cart properly strapped in. Ds was walking beside me. I was picking out a hose, and turned my attention away from the cart for a moment. Ds proceeded to hop on the cart (after being told repeatedly NOT to...) and the cart came down right on top of him, with dd in it. After I pulled the cart back up and made sure they were both okay, I placed my hands on ds's shoulders (NOT shaking him, mind you....just making sure I had his complete attention) and ask him "what were you thinking?! You could have injured yourself and your sister!!" I NEVER spanked him or called him stupid or anything like that....A man came over and yelled at me and said "I'm not going to let you talk to this boy like that!" And he continued to scold me. I was shoked! Now, if I had been calling my son names or striking him, I could have understood. But I did nothing of the sort. We have never even done those things in the privacy of our home. I certainly wouldn't do that in public. I actually started crying in the store. Not one of my proudest moments....
arghhh, I wish I'd been there with you and let her have a piece of my mind. The nerve... and then they wonder why SOME children are raised the way they are and are spoiled/everyone in the world owes me something adults once they are grown up- because you aren't even supposed to TALK to your child to let them know what they did was wrong and could have injured someone? geesh!

:thumbsup2 NYers are really great! Want a friend for life, find a NYer! :thumbsup2

Out here in PA we have the Powerball. DD has decided that when we win it, we will charter the Magic and invite our friends and families.:rotfl2:
Um, I am your friend... right? Right? Say yes please. :lmao:
:thumbsup2 Dean Koontz rocks!:thumbsup2
Dean Koontz does rock, but Stephen King RULES!

Maybe it's just my Southern California childhood but I've never understood the appeal of NYC...first of all, I do understand that I come from "Car Culture" and that's prolly my biggest complaint: I don't want to have to ride a friggin' train or bus to get to where I want to be! Nor do I wasn to PAY somebody to drive me there! So I guess that and the 5 BILLION poeple piled on top of each makes me nervous.

I think that's my issue with NYC also. I keep wanting to go there- like for a day or two.. but there's so much to do and see that if you really wanted to take it all in, you know like a "once in a lifetime" trip you'd have to stay longer and I think the things you mentioned are the same feelings I get when I think about it. I do not want to have to ride a train, bus and definitely not a subway... and so many people grates my nerves. It's why I can't stand going to Dallas even! And I'm sure in terms of people per sq ft (in downtown) it's far less than NYC. If they could clear the place out a bit and give me room to drive my vehicle, I could probably handle it.

Chicago was mentioned later in the thread... I've been there a couple of times on business years ago and it was okay, but people drive LIKE MANIACS there.

So, why are people WLE??? Yes, I know what WLE is, I'm just curious why they haven't been moved. I booked with a late dinner seating - just wanted to get the whole process over and done with. Once we seriously talked about it, we wanted to change to early dinner. After finding the thread and seeing WLE for so many, I figured I had no chance but when I asked, they changed me right away, no problems. Maybe it has to do with the size of our group??? :confused3 Just found it weird. Especially when I knew there were others who were waiting for early.

I'm curious about this too. I wish we had our website back because I need to relook at who is on the late dining. I'm CONSIDERING trying to switch to early- for a few reasons, but I think some of my favorite people are on late dining and want to check to make sure (ie: like Stacey for instance...)
The reason I'm leaning more towards changing this time is
A) we'd have to rush to see the shows before dinner anyway- if we see them and
B) it would just work better with the kids lab schedules as I remember before they had dinner in the club/lab same time as early dining- so if we're late dining... and our kids are going to eat with us- they aren't going to be in the lab during that time because the lab would take them to eat! Then during late dining they do all the "fun stuff" in the lab and it really causes a problem if you want to eat together as a family. They keep either missing the fun stuff or bugging you to go to the lab instead of eating. Plus if they were NOT going to eat with us- it messes up our eating schedule because if we're on late dining we want to eat a late lunch, but the kids would be in the lab eating EARLY dinner... so we have to give them an early lunch? It's just all messed up with late dining and the lab schedules and
C) we missed out on late night offerings- desserts offered before midnight in the hallways near the club, the midnight dessert buffet one night, the pirates night buffet, etc. because we'd JUST walked out of the restuarant on late dining and were stuffed already!

So anyway, we're thinking about it. The majority are on early dining, but I would like to see who all is on late dining before making a decision to "try" to get early... that's going to be one crowded (with DIS'ers I mean) early dining- if all linked to the same restaurant the DIS'ers will take up the majority of the restaurant!

You won't hurt me when I admire him, will you?? :scared:
Yeah, ditto that. :)

Hi Andrew!!!!

I'll tell you a funny story that I think you will appreciate: I was once in a hot tub at Beach Club with a bunch of Brits. I forget how it started, but we all started going on with some kind of rather acerbic humor . . . eventually one turned to me and said "Where are you from?" When I replied, she said, "Oh, that explains it -- a little island off the coast of Europe -- most Americans aren't that sarcastic!"
As opposed to what I said above about BEING in NYC, I have found it quite odd that as southern/Texan as I am.. I always seem to get along really well with people who have lived all their lives in NY and such. We just click and often but for my accent, they find it hard to believe I've lived in Texas all my life. Hmmm, does this mean I am sarcastic or have a sarcastic sense of humor or what? I also talk really fast, which is NOT the norm for the area I've lived in all my life, as I'm sure you are all well aware of. LOL

Ok, my turn for a "child gone bad" story  I was the child throwing a fit in the store because my Mom wanted me to stay with HER, but I wanted to go through the store with my Aunt. My Mom had had ENUFF and she popped me on the mouth with her fingers. Mind you, it wasn't a closed fist, it wasn't all that hard or malicious ... just enough to get my attention. It just so happened that it was that time of year when my lips get incredibly chapped (still do every fall to this very day) and when she popped me, my lip started to bleed  There was a woman standing close by that saw all of this happen and when she saw the blood on my lip she "HARUMPHED" pretty loudly at my Mom. My Mom, who was beyond mortified by this time turned to the woman and said, "Lady, another sound out of you and YOU'RE NEXT." :lmao:
Oh :lmao: I like your mom! Quick tongued & don't mess with her! :)
Hey, I think that he should be very happy that I even have the word rugby in my vocabulary at this point. I knew absolutely nothing about it before he started posting on this thread. :thumbsup2
Ditto!

DD idea for photo's............they came out cool.

Here is a thought............ask someone to take a pic of us.:rotfl2:

Notice I was very good about making sure DD put sunscreen on but guess I forgot.:confused3

Heck, I could never find anyone in my family on our last cruise!!:rotfl2:

My last cruise it was just me and my 15yo nephew. I saw him when I went to bed around 2am and he was still in bed when I got up around 8am. Other than that, he'd pop up around here and there but stayed out of trouble. Well, except for the blisters from only wearing flipflops and then spraining his ankle and having to take him to the infirmary.

My DD ( 13 ) only did one activity with the teen club. We spent the entire time together and really enjoyed it well she didn't much enjoy it when I woke her up each morning so she could see the sunrise.:rotfl2:

We went to bed about 11:00 each night. We did have a note pad on the door so we would always know where each other was but hardly used it. I wen't to the adult show of Taylor Mason one night and she turned in early.

It was really great to spend that Mom & daughter time with her. I am hoping she will meet alot of people before this cruise since my DH will be on this one.;)

....in response to all tis baby talk...our first , was/is the most beautiful
baby one can imagined!...not kidding, we go out and draw a crowd!
:lmao: , now he is 6'5''..230 lbs...but he still has his baby face...boy
that gets him  !

* oh,, our lil'over-done lil'stinker......when he was 6mos, we did a
series of sailor pics [ I was in the navy then ]....but they did so

the store...& they blown them up into poster size , using them in
their baby department.... , went and found the photographer,
he proclaimed the most beautiful baby pics ever!..and that's when
we learned they owned the rights?! [ here's a kicker...we used an
adult sailor cap..for those pics....not saying, wow! or anything..

wasn't the first adventure he gave us! he was the very ood reason
why we decided no more, !

:scared1: , i think we disilliusioned him..all these years, he has been
under the notion , "we" had the privileged of him chosing us! :snooty:

That's so sweet how you speak of your babies......How old are your kids now?

castoff----

Loved your pictures! I especially liked the one where your dd has her hand on Walt's shoulder...That's so neat about dd's magical moments, too! Glad to hear you had a great cruise.

Just thought I would also mention my DD didn't collect pins before this cruise.:rotfl2: All of a sudden..........because she is a return cruiser and gets a lanyard and 2 free pins bam O she is addicted. Great marketing ploy.:thumbsup2 :rotfl2: Well dinner is going to be late tonight. I will try to stay caught up.:)

Andy: Is this just routine exrays or did you hurt yourself again?:wizard:

You won't hurt me when I admire him, will you?? :scared:

Not at all! Besides, after taking that dive off the concrete steps, we don't have any worries about someone thumping him on the head! ;)

 But at this stage I think DW will let you HAVE him! He's was being a scmho yesterday, punching DW's buttons as only a toddler can....popcorn::

There's a little Happy Pill called Xanax and it's my friend :upsidedow

DH calls them my be nice to the world meds;) cause if i didnt take them and someone came near on of my kids with a pair of sissors i could'nt even imagine what i would do hooray for you for not CHOKING the s*** out of that person

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I heard on the radio yesterday (Kaiser commercial) that laughing for 15 minutes burns 40 calories, and offers all sort of other healthful benefits.

You guys are now officially part of my weight loss program.
Now, if I can just figure out how to reduce the intake....

Have a healthy lifestyle - join DIS!!

It's the perfect come back to our spouses - who think we're nuts!

Thank you.............more to come ! I know this is corny and DD didn't really want to do it but she did.:) We wore matching shirts for Pirate night. Last cruise in Aug. I wore a huge elabrate costume, this time just wanted something a little simple. The life style portraits are just awesome !! We got them done twice.:thumbsup2 o.k time to make dinner............more pics later.

We did have a note pad on the door so we would always know where each other was but hardly used it.

We had a dry erase board on our door. First night I came back, my nephew left me a note. "Skipping dinner. Already ate in the bar." :rotfl:

I LOVE both London and NYC - I grew up in San Francisco which IMHO is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. However, I think while walking about in any city it's really important to be aware of the area and avoid the obvious "bad" parts of town. Just adjacent to the theater district in S.F. is the "Tenderloin" where reside mostly winos and druggies. Tourists regularily run into dicey situations there.
While in London I lost 5 lbs due to my walking tours!!!! In NYC my kids loved the food vendors everywhere!!
Chris

San Fran is gorgeous . .

Angelina will also be a Class of '08 HS grad at cruise time. She said she wants to go to our community college, which will start the day after the cruise ends. That's one reason I haven't made a final decision about the 5 day cruise, following the 15 day cruise. I'm just going to see what happens between now and next summer.

Andy, I still can't believe that Adam will be out of HS. I know he is on the older side. November Bday and then he repeated kindergarten. But my baby boy is growing up!
