Gotta run and pick up DD to take her to dance. Maybe I will get there before the buses leave today. Later all!!:yay:

Andrew, :grouphug: for you and your family. :wizard: that DD's graft is well.

I've been impressed with my oldest's ability to save. He earned a lot of money cutting lawns last summer and saved it all for the cruise. Then we got to the cruise and he spent $10 on an arcade card and bought one T-shirt. He said he didn't see anything else that was worth it. He has my sense of cheapness.

I am hoping that the kids take after DH & myself as far as being thrifty. If it wasn't for that quality, I would never have earned my college degree. I paid every cent & worked my but off to get it in 3 years instead of 4.

You know, I really love putting in flooring, as long as it is the snap in kind. We have a lot more to do around here though. We are moving our bedroom into the addition, so our "old" bedroom will get a new floor also. After a bit more constuction. Now when we have to tile the bathroom? I have never done that before.

Caroline, go to a how to thing at Lowe's or Home Depot. :thumbsup2

Glad to know I'm not the only one :laundy: today.

Now that the kids are finally off to school after the 2 hour delay, I can :surfweb: a little between :laundy: loads.

My goal is to get 2 closets and all of my kitchen cabinets emptied out, cleaned & re-organized before Easter. I'm 1/2 way through the first closet, so I am hopeful.

Laundry going here too. This morning I made myself clean the house before getting on the computer. Everything has been vacuumed & dusted, 2 of the bathrooms cleaned, kitchen cleaned, & toys in the family room reorganized. Kid things are gone in a box in the garage & DD's castle has a spot on the bookshelves. :thumbsup2

I also stopped at WM & Target this morning. Lots of 75% markdown in household...storage bins, quilts, small rugs, pillows.

Playing catch up here. Thank goodness for multi quote.

I'm only 5'3" and the one I'm looking at, I can sit on and flat foot on the ground no problem.
I'm 5'2 on a good day and I have trouble reaching the ground on any that I have tried.
Talked to the owner of our local HD and he said they could cut out the area where the seat is to give me a lower ride. I can't remember which one it was by Mark would know. But seriously, DS does not like that we have a motorcycle. He is worried about us and if I had my own he would probably be so worried that I wouldn't want to ride because of upsetting him.

Questions please?

Does anyone have any CHEAP ideas for how a small girl could dress up as a "Dr. Seuss character" for 1st grade in school? They do this every year (atleast I've gone thru it a few times because she's the last child) and I never know what to dress them as... short of buying a costume which I'm not going to do. So my kids always do not participate in this. Ofcourse my DIVA youngest daughter wants to dress up as something... but what? Any ideas? I'm at a loss on this one and even doing a google search to try to get ideas has only led me to cat in the hat costumes where a costume would have to be purchased or quite extensive to try to make one. I can't think of what kind of "character" she could be that wouldn't require a bunch of money to be spent! I have to figure out something by next Friday..

And figured I'd ask here because it seems a lot of you cruise not only DCL...
If you had to choose between a 4-5 night inside stateroom on a Carnival cruise or a slightly CHEAPER 7 night cruise with oceanview room on Norwegian Dream- for 2 adults only- which would you choose? Itinerary are similar, although ofcourse extra ports on the 7 night. We're considering this because Dh got a bonus check we weren't expecting and yeah, it could be saved for the "trip of a lifetime" but I think we're okay with everything else we have earmarked to save for that... and we could go next week when the kid are out of school on break and stay at sister's home... the cruise would mostly be relaxation for me, scuba diving at atleast one port for DH. It could be a birthday celebration, DH turns the big 4-0 on March 4th. We're not big drinkers nor are we young enough to go partying into the night either. I didn't think I'd ever consider cruising other than on DCL but this is just much cheaper and we'd never go DCL without the kids anyway..

So which would you choose if you had the choice? (based on what I have told you what we're looking for in a cruise and based on your experience OR things you have heard of either cruiseline.

Dare I say Ebay for a costume?

Also, on the cruises. We have never done NCL but we have done Carnival and RCCL as well as Princess and DCL. I think honestly you have to go into every cruise with an open mind. YES absolutely there is no better cruise than a DCL but if you have the chance and want to get away then as long as you are with someone you care about and just go into with the mindset that it isn't going to be DCL but it will still be fun and a chance to get away, I say go for it. When we went on Carnival last year I was very nervous because there was so much bad press about the ship and the port we left from and then they type of passengers etc that I thought we would be in for a world of hurt but it was actually a great cruise. Sure the ship was older and could use an update but the food was great and the entertainment was awesome.
I don't think I would have picked it for family trip but it was fun for Mark and I to go on. We got to have adult entertainment and a chance to relax. DCL is of course more geared for families then Carnival or RCCL or NCL. But if you are traveling without kids it is nice to do somethings that are a bit different than what you see on DCL. That being said, if I had the money and time I would go DCL with kids. If I had the money and time I might look for something else that doesn't involve as much kid programming, one of the more upscale cruise lines. If I just want to get away without the kids and don't have a lot of $$ to spend. I would go for as long as a trip as I can afford on a cheaper line, like Carnival. I guess it is all in what you make it and if you don't go in with DCL expectations if you are traveling with Carnival.

Confused YET?

I haven't done much on my day off.....slept too late (I hate that!) I did just finish making a pot of chili for supper. Starightened a little, But I really want to get cleaning on DS's closet...................
I slept in way to much today too. I am still getting over this darn cold and spent most of the night coughing so I took some heavy meds this am and slept as long as I could, so needless to say not much got done today.

Our very first cruise was on the Wonder back in '03, and we've discussed trying another line, but it always comes down to plain fear of disappointment. I know it costs quite a bit less to cruise on other lines, but after it's all said and done, it's still a substantial amount of money to shell out no matter what line you cruise. And we're just spoiled by Disney. We're seriously afraid of being let down on another cruise line.

I decided to talk to a cruise agency before the PC cruise was posted. It is a huge office with at least 30 cruise agents. I ended up talking to one of the most experienced agents. She stated DCL was over-rated and expensive. I could do much better on other cruise lines. She was even on the inaugural cruise.

I guess she did not understand "love of Disney." I think once you have had the best, you never go backwards.:rolleyes1 I can't base my opinion from comparison nor will ever be able to. It will always be cruises sprinkled with pixie dust for us.:tinker:

I hear you with how DDs can trade! :rotfl2: My DD has a good eye for the HM pins, lets the CM know that she sees it, and then trades for something else. If she doesn't like the pin, she won't trade!

I hear you about too cold for sales. Our K-Mart lets us in the vestibule, but everywhere else, banks, post offices and Wally World, for the girls outside. There was NO WAY that we we going to be freezing our butts off just for that!

DS has always had an eye for the lanyard pins...even before we knew what they were. LOL! Now he asks if the CM has any when he says hello. DD will trade for any of the princess pins. She also likes Chip & Dale.

Reminds me of one of my favorite pictures from our last cruise. It is not the best photo of any of us, but

LOOK! BAKED ALASKANS!

Lisa, you need to give me earlier warnings when you are going to find the
bargains.:thumbsup2 I stopped at Walmart yesterday and nothing!!!! :sad1: Are you intuitive when it comes to finding the bargains.

Have they given you a time frame yet of when to be expecting your bundle?
And Yes, you will definetly be needing this cruise in 08!

It's difficult to say, because it all depends on how things fall into place. But now it's looking like it may be as early as April!! :woohoo:

Greetings from the Magic!

I couldn't stay away! Gotta type fast only 86 mins left. Just got out of the CC get together. Tom Waller? was there. 2 new ships in 2011 & 2012! Will be built at ship yard in Germany. He said that there is alot of speculation on the DIS Boards! Bigger, more tonnage, hold 4,000 people. New design, 2 decks taller and combine Mickey and Goofy pools into one big family pool. I don't know if this is somthing that has been posted before, but if it's new I wanted you guys to be the first to know!

I am having CJ thread withdrawls, but we are having a great time. Too much to ketchup on! Gotta go, there is a deck chair on deck 4 with my name on it!

Thanks for the info about the family pool area. I haven't seen that posted before. :thumbsup2

WOW!! I didn't realize it could be that soon....Are you taking a leave at that time?

LOL! I had to take books to school so that I had something to do thru 3rd grade. I don't remember much else about school up to that point. DS now has to take books with him & his teacher has provided him with challenge workbooks when he finishes his work. I miss reading like that. I haven't read anything since DD was a baby that is considered adult reading.

Lisa, while sitting at the adult pool I average reading about a book a day. I bring several with me and get the rest from the small library they have on board. I wish it was bigger.
