How about rotary phones! My aunt still has one and my kids had no idea what it was.:scared1:

Ugh! Rotary phones!! My grandparents phone # ended with the digits 0199....I think it would have taken less time to just walk to their house....

What are we to do guys?

the wenches are walkin' all over us?!?!

And does that SURPRISE anyone?

My HDTV just blew out! It is a rear projection bulb driven TV and it just poped. That is gonna cost me $300 or so for a new bulb. I have a spare on hand but - oh well...

Which model/brand TV do you have? How long did it last? I've been wondering how long our bulb will last....

We are now the proud owners of "Grumpy's Train House" Guess where we'll be spending our weekends? Kev has dreamt of owning a model train shop for a looong time and I'm happy for him. I told him we could do it,as long as we still get to go on the cruise next year AND I still get my motorcycle.

So, if anybody's into model trains or model ships, let us know.

Best of luck to you!! :flower3: WIll you be having a grand opening? How fun to own something that you love.

Great job on the cookies Caroline. I remember hustling those cookies when I was in GS. I usually don't buy them anymore, but I give the girls outside of places $5 for their troop fund. Saves me many calories.:)

That is fantastic, Caroline!!!

:thumbsup2 Way to go!:thumbsup2

It was a great cookie day!:thumbsup2 They did almost as many in one booth as the day before with 2! Only 200 boxes left and that is with getting 4764 in total!! I finally have the back of the minivan back.:rotfl:

Pete....where is the picture you promised?

your not far from me now that your floor is done your more than welcome to come do mine:rotfl2:

You know, I really love putting in flooring, as long as it is the snap in kind. We have a lot more to do around here though. We are moving our bedroom into the addition, so our "old" bedroom will get a new floor also. After a bit more constuction. Now when we have to tile the bathroom? I have never done that before.

My kids' school is opening 2 hours late today due to weather. I keep hoping the sun will come out to help melt the frozen stuff on the roads.

2 hr delay here too....

But i've been up since 4:30.....

DH and i had to drive one of our dog show judges down to Dulles for a flight this morning. Roads were wet but clear....

Then we took dry cleaning to the cleaners (Gotta get it done so i have something to wear back to work next week.)

Thank God DD leaves any minute now...

I need a nap soon...

Isn't nice to go eat at Mom's...glad you had a nice time and got to have Cake:banana:

It is! :thumbsup2 We only live about 5 - 10 minutes away. I wish she invited us more often... they seemed to have slowed down as I had each kid.:rotfl2:

I wish we would get some snow.....I have been getting jealous of so many of you!:confused3

Caroline, It would have cost us roughly $17,000 (1450 mon) for great coverage. DS has allergies, exzema,ADD and asthma(when he was young.) I had 2 herniated disks and psorasis. Our HSA is about $4500 (360 mon) + $5300 we put on the card. It saves us a little over $7000 a year. The thing that I like the best about it is that what ever we don't use on the debit card stays there and grows. We had been fairly healthy the last 3 years, but DH knee surgery will take all of this years deposit.

Now that I could handle. When I talked to friend in the business about it she told me the policy was a lot higher than what you pay. Maybe I will look into it again.:thumbsup2

:surfweb: Good morning!
Hope everyone is safe and warm. We got about 5" and DDs school is closed. I've already read back pages...so helpful knowing how to multi-quote! ;)

The only thing I have ever bought on e-bay were Disney pins. Took over my life for about a month, but DDs have plenty of pins to trade.:thumbsup2 Now DH is another story... :rolleyes1
Ooooh...Disney pins. Yep, got me into a wee bit of trouble on e bay too! DB is a CM so I think I like his discount on sale pins a bit better. If DDs like a particular character/type, let me know. I might have some extras to trade, including the lanyard (now known as Hidden Mickey.)

Questions please?
Does anyone have any CHEAP ideas for how a small girl could dress up as a "Dr. Seuss character" for 1st grade in school? They do this every year (atleast I've gone thru it a few times because she's the last child) and I never know what to dress them as... short of buying a costume which I'm not going to do. So my kids always do not participate in this. Ofcourse my DIVA youngest daughter wants to dress up as something... but what? Any ideas? I'm at a loss on this one and even doing a google search to try to get ideas has only led me to cat in the hat costumes where a costume would have to be purchased or quite extensive to try to make one. I can't think of what kind of "character" she could be that wouldn't require a bunch of money to be spent! I have to figure out something by next Friday..

And figured I'd ask here because it seems a lot of you cruise not only DCL...
If you had to choose between a 4-5 night inside stateroom on a Carnival cruise or a slightly CHEAPER 7 night cruise with oceanview room on Norwegian Dream- for 2 adults only- which would you choose? Itinerary are similar, although ofcourse extra ports on the 7 night. We're considering this because Dh got a bonus check we weren't expecting and yeah, it could be saved for the "trip of a lifetime" but I think we're okay with everything else we have earmarked to save for that... and we could go next week when the kid are out of school on break and stay at sister's home... the cruise would mostly be relaxation for me, scuba diving at atleast one port for DH. It could be a birthday celebration, DH turns the big 4-0 on March 4th. We're not big drinkers nor are we young enough to go partying into the night either. I didn't think I'd ever consider cruising other than on DCL but this is just much cheaper and we'd never go DCL without the kids anyway..

So which would you choose if you had the choice? (based on what I have told you what we're looking for in a cruise and based on your experience OR things you have heard of either cruiseline.

Question 1: Besides Things 1 & 2, maybe Cindy Lou Who?

Question 2: Have you left the kids before? For how long? If you can stand it, I'd recommend the 7 nighter. I've heard both good and bad on Carnival and Norwegian...it's all in what you make of it!! If you do go on Carnival, let me know. We have a 7 night booked on the Valor in June and I'm hesitating...it's a suite and we got a really good deal on it...it's just not DCL.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! GS Cookies! We just finished selling ours up here. Our troop of 2nd grade brownies is 19 strong and our cookie mom was out with a bad back. Being an assistant leader with a mini-van, guess who got the chore...:confused3 I was close to tears when I could finally put groceries in the back again!:rotfl2: Awesome job on the booth sales. Where did you set up at?

Time to get back to my :laundy:

do you have anything sattillite? i have direct tv it was much cheaper than comcast however i dont get the flyers games:sad2:

We actually do have satelitte also, but that is just a package for DH. He is from Egypt and he gets a few channels from there to watch. I am just leary to make the switch. For one it would raise the cost of my internet!:scared1:

G'nite Mary! As my older daughter sometimes quips... "sleep tight and don't let the beddy bugs bite!"

bedbugco.gif

:rotfl: I have never said that to my girls because all 3 have gone through a period where they were deathly afriad of bugs. Last thing i wanted to do was make it worse!:lmao:

I dub thee ...

... a official Mini-pirate Wench! All Wenches are wenches (I think) ... and the so called "true pirates" are the 10,000th posters. I have yet to achieve one of those. But I have had two 1000th postings.

Remember ....

TAKE WHAT YA CAN!!!!

GIVE NOTHING BACK!!

Time to get back to my :laundy:

Glad to know I'm not the only one :laundy: today.

Now that the kids are finally off to school after the 2 hour delay, I can :surfweb: a little between :laundy: loads.

My goal is to get 2 closets and all of my kitchen cabinets emptied out, cleaned & re-organized before Easter. I'm 1/2 way through the first closet, so I am hopeful.

Well, you were advanced - I didn't start Little House until 1st grade!
I actually got in trouble for reading too much during school. After our worksheets, test, whatever was done, we were allowed to read silently. If I was in the middle of a good book, I would rush through the work just to get back to my book. Teacher met with my parents and I wasn't allowed to bring books to school for quite some time. Can you imagine?!

I'm always reading 2-3 books at a time.

I went through this with my oldest DD. I had to talk to her teacher about letting her read after a test, etc because she would make silly mistakes because she just wanted to read. I also had to ban her from reading during lunch or recess so she would talk to her friends instead.

:woohoo: You go girl! Tackled DDs closet last weekend. Now I just need to do mine!:rolleyes1
