That reminds me I have to TIVO Grey's tonight. Miranda has a soccer game tonight. 1st one of the season. Her game last weekend was cancelled since the wind knocked over the bleachers. That's not a good sign.

That's nice to be able to start the season so early. Dd is still playing indoor soccer here. Does your dd play indoor? I enjoy watching all of dd's sports, but the indoor soccer is particularly exciting.....such a fast paced game!

Wish I could go.:sad2: I want to start on my cruise scrapbook. Maybe this weekend.:) Isn't it hard to pack everything up and stay organized? Ugh !

Yes Tina I feel that way. I much actually prefer to work on my books at home. But it is fun to get together with the girls.

First trip th the World was pretty typical for the mid-70s. Mom, Dad and three kids loaded up in the Ford Grand Torino station wagon making the trek from NJ to Orlando. We stayed at the CR for $65/night. I remember my Mom worring if they could afford it. The interesting part was what happened when we got home. To this day we sometimes ask my Mom what were they thinking.

We get home from a week at WDW. My Dad still having a few extra vacation days, decides he wants to go to Niagara Falls. Huh :scared1: ??? So, Mom does laundry, repacks the wagon and of we go to Niagara Falls the next day. Now it's July and we have no reservations for a hotel. We get to the NY side of the Falls an cannot find a place to stay. We cross the boarder and finally on the Canadian side they find a room at some flea bag for $80US. My Father was freaking. The next day we did the Falls which were interesting for all of 15 minutes. My Brother kept asking where the Dumbo was. By this time my Father was steaming, my Mom was furious and the three of us were wondering when we were going home. We packed up and were back in NJ the next day. Mom and Dad did not speak to each other for a few days after that.

My Mom swears she tried to stop him. Stubborn Irish!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I would sometimes go to crops with my sister. She's the "just slap it on there" type of scrapper. I agonize over matching background paper with borders and embelishments, etc....In a 6 hour stint she would complete like 15 pages. I may have 2 done. She would ask me "Can't you do anything half-add?"

I think one of the funniest stories from my childhood was the time my brother got back at my Mom for all of her teasing and pranks. Mom had coerced my brother into helping her do some work around the yard, planting flowers, cleaning up, etc. She noticed a hole in the dirt at the base of the foundation of the house. She asked my brother what it was, he said he didn't know. She told him to feel around the hole and see if he could figure it out. My brother wasn't very happy ... but did what he was told. All of a sudden, my brother starts screaming and saying that his hand is stuck, and something was grabbing him from inside the hole. My Mom starts freaking out and tries to grab onto my brother to keep him from getting sucked into the hole when my brother pulls his hand away from the hole and turns to my Mom. He said, "Bet you won't make me reach into any more mysterious holes will you?" :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao:

That is the brand I use also.....but what is this QVC discount you speak of? I always purchase mine from Sephora at our mall....

Hey, both my DD & I use mineral make-up - I discovered "Colorescience" - it was developed by the original founder of BE (which was the first minereal make-up I tried). I buy my make-up on eBAy. You can check out the web site (www.colorescience.com) -I like these products better than BE.

Can't tell you exact date but somewhere around the opening in 1955. I am the short one, my brother is the tall one in Adventureland.

Here is another one of the Captain Hooks pirate ship in Fantasyland. Wish that it was still there. They had a Chicken of the Sea restaurant inside that had the best tuna sandwiches.

And another one when I was about 7-8 with Mickey and Minnie.

Great pics!:thumbsup2 Roger

I am one of those stubborn people and I am bound a determined to read this post all the way through. I have been so far just a lurker! I just want to let you know that I am here.

So, for now, here is a little bit about my family. We will be on the EB sailing as well, we have 2 connecting category 5 cabins. It is me, DH, DS15, DD13, DS12, DD9, and DD2 (current ages). I just had to say hello!!!!! I am way too excited for a trip so far away. But it is fun slowly getting to know you all.

Now, my history: I was last on the boards the morning of booking day, and have since survived -35 degree temps with schools cancelled etc, weathered 3 nasty snowstorms (another one right now!) and tried to get caught up at work from being on a business trip to Iowa, weeklong Disney Cruise, another weeklong business trip to Canada (for those of you counting, that is 9 different countries/states and 5 different time zones and that was all in a 6 week period.) So, now that I am finally caught up at work and have the kids back in a more normal routine (as normal as it can be with 5 kids), and I want to get in on the fun!

But I have to confess, I am lost! I am so behind. I am not a cruise newbie (been on 4), I am a DIS newbie. So, I will update you as I work my way through the thread. Wish me luck! So here goes, update #1:

I am on post 555 (pg 36 I think).

(My goals is to read more posts than are added everyday! Next update in a few days!)

Poohmom :hippie:

:welcome:

Well, my parents did get my sister and I a car to share......it was a big green monster! A Plymouth Sports Fury. It was so bad that I actually preferred driving my mom's Brady Bunch station wagon.

Had to be better than the vomit comet i started out on....

The trannie was shot and i had to add a quart every two days or the engine would smoke....

But it was a $50 car....

Thank god it was only for a few months....

Sooooo.....you're likin The Travel Channel now that you've got it, huh?

Yep!!! Had it for nearly a month and didn't know it. Of course trying to keep up with this thread has cut into my TV watching...............:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My first car was a 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham - it was black with red pinstriping. The trunk was held on with duct tape.

Ohhh i had a gutlass too it was an 83 though Navy Blue....

The thing was such a money pit....

In the end i sold it for a couple hundred bucks....

I so wanted to put it in a demolition derby...

But DH wouldn't let me.....Party pooper

I have ta hand it to ya....

I read this posting and found myself so amused... that I was compelled to inflict everyone with another "groundhog day" moment and offer "the cake" to our creative and entertaining contributor!

So - just to reaffirm - jonesing, your posting takes the cake!

This has been floating around the net for a while but someone just resent it to me......

And you also find out interesting things when you have sons, like ...

1. A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house 4 inches deep.

2. If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

3. A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant. ::yes::

4. If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.

5. You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

6. The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

7. When you hear the toilet flush and the words "uh oh", it's already too late.

8. Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

9. A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old Man says they can only do it in the movies.

10. Certain Lego's will pass through the digestive tract of a 4- year old Boy.

11. Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.

12. Super glue is forever.

13. No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.

14. Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15. VCR's do not eject "PB & J" sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

16. Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17. Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18. You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.

19. Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do not like ovens.

20. The fire department in Austin, TX has a 5-minute response time.

21. The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.

22. It will, however, make cats dizzy.

23. Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

24. 80% of Women will pass this on to almost all of their friends, with or without kids.

25. 80% of Men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid. :rolleyes1

Been there and done some of that ... even with girls... and that was NOT me with the CLorox and Brake fluid last week... honest!

Thanks for sharing....I noticed a spa near me carries the products...I may look into them when I need to repurchase. Why do you like this line better than BE?

I can't remember my first trip to DL. I know we went a few times as a kid. I remember a family road trip where we visited Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm, then finally DL. I remember getting so scared by the Haunted House in one of the other parks that I refused to go in the Haunted Mansion at DL. I made my mother sit outside with me while everyone else went.

I have a few pics from a different trip. My mother's boss went down for a convention. She took her son and asked my mom if she wanted to bring me (spoiled baby of the family). We stayed at the DL Hotel. I think we only went in the park 1 day.

I took my son on his first trip on his first birthday. I knew it was mostly a trip for me, not him, but hey, who cares it's Disneyland! We didn't make it back until his 3rd birthday and we've been AP holders ever since (he'll be 12 this year).

Nice pics, Monica:thumbsup2

hi all! gonna try to pop in here today during naptime...i could really use a nap myself! so i'm hoping the boards here will help me stay awake!
it was a very long nite last nite...my gpa had a ruptured anyeurism (spelling?) on sat morning. they did surgery, and it looked to be like he was doing ok. they expected the surgery to last for 6 hrs, it only lasted 4! they thought he'd be on a resp for weeks...he was off it in 2 days! well, yesterday he had some major setbacks. his lungs and heart were doing very well...very strong! but yesterday afternoon, his heart stopped...but he's tough and stubborn and the docs got him going again! last nite was another story...his heart kept giving out numerous times, and they've had to put him back on the vent. he's not looking good, and we were at the hosp from midnite til after 3 this am. at least he's stable today...and he's a stubborn and strong old man!! which is good for his fighting chances! please keep him in your prayers!

So sorry Shannon. :grouphug: for you and your family

I was watching a show on the PC the other day, Diane had posted about it and I was able to get to see some of it.
