We aren't planning on flying in until the day before so I guess we'll just be hanging out at the hotel.

It would be very easy to arrange a meet somewhere outside of the parks for people to get together & say hello then. I'm sure many have the same plans that you do. :goodvibes If you would like to organize something LMK & I will include it in the first post.

EXTERMINATE!!!!

Good answer!

I thought about you when I mentioned skating - from what I've read you are a pro - while I love in-line skating - I only do well while it's level and I don't have to stop quickly! But - having said that - it is one of my favorite recreational activites. I just glide along and let my stress float AWAY!! Also, its a time when I can let my mind flow freely and I problem solve and the creative juices flow. You know what I mean?
If you have time in 8/08 - come & skate w/me on the strand!!!!
Chris

That sounds great! But I doubt I'll have room to pack my blades. I'm not so much a pro, I've just been skating my whole life. I started when I was 2, so I don't actually remember learning.

We'll see how this marathon thing goes. So far the longest I've gone at one time is 9 miles. But I've also never trained for anthing like that. I am getting distance racing skates sometime this summer & I suppose I'll have to start training sometime next fall. The race is my "Yikes I'm 35" goal.

What are most people doing before the cruise? Disneyland? I'm debating. In 05 we stayed at Huntington Beach and really enjoyed it. Anyone else doing something different?

Mary

We are planning to spend 6 nights in Anaheim. We are going to use DH's hotel points from work travel to make that reservation. :thumbsup2 We will probably spend a day in each...

California Adventure
DL (maybe 2 days here)
US
Hollywood tourist area thing
San Diego tourist area thing - maybe the zoo

This is our first trip to CA, so we want to take advantage of our time there. DH has been several times for work.

Alan is sound asleep on he couch. He woud probably more comfortable in bed, but that is upstairs. He said earlier that he felt alittle queasy, but seems to be doing great. Hopefully that will be the case in the morning.

Andy, I truly hope you get some good news in March. I have felt for you so many days with your weather and you doing all that walking and bending in your job. I can't imagine having already gone through 7 surgeries. You must be a really special person to keep perservering.:)

How is your DH feeling today? I hope that the queasiness has passed.

For the Captain, this is just down the road from me.

BREAKING NEWS ON BBC NEWS 24.

Strange man holding the torch to open the 2012 Olympics? Do you know WHO?

Chris I just noticed your reference to the strand. Where do you live in CA? Would you be referring to Silver Strand Beach?

Happy Saturday All.

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

I saw the news of the new ships yesterday when I pulled up DCL website at work to check out what ports we go to next year. Someone was asking and I saw the news about the 2 new ships. First thing I did was call DH and tell him I have now planned yet another DCL vacation. Maybe we can all take over the Maiden voyage of the next ship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lisa, i get tired just thinking about how much work you do....

I've been fighting a loosing battle trying to keep the counters clean and keep the laundry moving. i know there's a bunch in my room but DH forgot to take it downstairs.....

Well, I used up all my energy that day & ended up doing nothing yesterday. I was too distracted to really accomplish that much so I putzed around then took a nap. The ironing board is gone so I guess I did something. ;) Have to say that when I was busy all day Thursday I didn't get tired in the afternoon.

You are going to have so much fun! Just one thing, don't wear yourself out before the cruise. We need the Empress to lead this unruly group of pirates. We can't have you all tired out!! We'll be in big trouble!

My DS & DD really would like to go MM and do the rollercoasters too, the little daredevils they are. I'm kinda hoping they forget about it though before we move back. We just keep taking them to DL where the coaster in DCA seems to satisfy them, for now anyway

That coaster is the reason we are going to spend a day at DCA. It looks so cool...according to DH & DS. ;) I hope that there are other rides there to keep us busy.

Are you serious??? I didn't know that! Never been to the Original Mouse House??
Wish I were going to be around to give a personal tour!

Lisa, I envy you getting to spend 6 nights in CA. There is so much to see there. I wish we could spend longer, but 3 nights will be really pusing it for us.

DH is sore today. Hopefully he will be back to feeling good soon. Thanks for asking.

Plenty! It's like a Boardwalk...very fun.
And then there's SOARIN' !! And Grizzly Peak!

We didn't get to do the coaster at DCA when we were there in 05. It was shortly after the accident and still closed down. I am looking forward to it this time.

All this planning is making me nervous!

Exactly when do I make sure I can get the time off?? Not the best thing to ask during a job interview! I hope I can negotiate the same deal I have here (or better). I get 4 weeks PTO a year, BUT we have a blackout Aug-Nov.

BTW, can I get a volunteer to update my resume and job hunt for me while I DIS?

So far, our plan is to fly in Fri. night & go to DL Sat. It is going to be difficult to pick which park. DCA is great, but I'm a traditionalist. I don't feel like I've been to Disney if I haven't walked down Main Street. We always hit MK on our first and last day when we go to WDW.

You are in for a really long day if you are driving LA-SD doing the tourist thing and then driving back to LA is the same day. When we lived in SD, we always stayed overnight if we were going to LA for touristy things - and that was before kids. You might consider flying into SD and making that your first day beofre heading to LA. Just a thought.
