It is NEVER too early to start drinking, although I do have to ask the question, "Why did you STOP drinking?"

Why???

There is this little thing that gets between me and my next adult drink called work. They tend to get a tad bit upset if I came in everyday with a Coleman filled with beer.

And besides.....SSSHHHHH....remember, I'm one of those EVIL smokers.:smokin:
But please don't anyone flame me....I'm very, very polite, and have learned to stay far, far away from people. My DH HATES cigarette smoke. I can't smoke in the house, the car, never in a hotel room......he has me very well trained.

Yeah I remembered that but just you smoking and going to the casino are two totally different things...

Just when I feel like I know what you are all talking about, I have to leave to go grocery shopping. My DH still likes eating.

Catch you all later.

You know, I can honestly say I don't have that problem. Considering what I do for a living, when compared with what teachers and police officers and soliders/sailors/airmen are paid for what they do, I am grossly overpaid. Not that I plan to give any of it back to my monolithic faceless corporation, mind you -- that's what charities are for.

Keep it comin'! Non-profit professionals are underpaid!

You won't find me in a suite. . .

ITA!!! I was a bit disappointed on our last trip...he didn't make it out from the shop once with a camera.:sad1:

Here was our other 'buddy' from that trip. I haven't seen her since. I wonder if she's gone now. She had DD behind the counter with her working!:rolleyes1

Oh, can you tell I'm a Shutters junkie too?;)

My dd had that same dress! I'm thying to remember, but I think it was from either Carter's or The Children's Place?

No :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I don't think you need to run out in the streets screaming "the omen......

Redheads are overly sensitive to many things (and also have a tendency to bleed easily.) I don't know much about this --not Catholic either.
Explain what they use to create the ashes and any other liquids or additives....

This was probably already answered...I'm a bit behind still....Our church uses old palms, for last years palm Sunday to burn for ashes. When I was in elementary school, I remember writing our sins down on paper that they burned and added to the ashes.

Just saw another ad for Grey's tonight. WHY do they have to use the words DEVISTATING CONCLUSION to describe this episode? :scared: Can't wait to find out what happens!!!

Our school now e-mails progress reports every Friday, it really helps to stay up with what the kids are doing.

And how did you get them to come right home and do their homework? The beatings didn't work here. ;)

Which reminds me of a pirate shirt I saw in San Fran:

The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves :lmao:

I find that it is very helpful to have a teacher who communicates via email whenever she has a concern. We have been able to work together to challenge DS this year without a lot of conferences that way.

Allowance?

My kids get one dollar per school grade (4th grade = $4). 25% of that must go to savings.

My oldest DS said to me: So, when I'm in 12th grade I'll get $12.00/week?
I thought to myself, yeah, I wish. I just smiled at him and said won't you be so excited to get so much money?

Well, after our 12/05 cruise I was determined not to listen to the kids saying gimme all the time. DH being gone so much resulted in the guilt toy reward thing when he was home for a day or 2. I got upset that DD started looking forward to him coming home because she would get a toy & not just to spend time with him. He couldn't say no to her so he gave in & I had to deal with the bad habit & was the "bad mommy." So, I wanted the kids to appreciate to cost/value of things. I started giving them $4 a week. They don't get all of the money though. $2 goes right into their bank account. $1 goes to their spending money. $1 goes to their cruise fund. They only get the spending money once a month so 4-5 at a time. I match the money in their savings account. When they want to buy something they have to pay half of the cost. I keep an account book for each of them with a running total for each of the three groups of money for them. They were quite upset when we opened their bank accounts. They got upset when we left their money there. DD said that I gave all her money away. :rotfl:

They bought things pretty quickly at first but now really think about how much they are saving up.

I saw a guy in Hooters last night with a black mark on his forehead. I kept looking at him thinking what that could be when I realized what day it was. (I'm not Catholic, but a Christian I am aware of the holy days, or should be).

I guess it was the juxtaposition of going to church, getting your ashes, and then coming to Hooters that threw me off balance.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

For everyone who is on the "short" side and doesn't like it when they feel tall in the crowd - I'm 5'10" without heels which I wear frequently when I'm dressed, usually the 3-4" variety (DH is 6'3" so I can get away with that!).

Well, thank goodness I won't feel like the only amazon woman on the cruise.

Isn't it nice to not have to stand on your tip toes to get an item from the top shelf at the grocery store?

I hear ya there........He was so good with guests....the last crew were unsociable and forget joking around with them, so you can imagine how much they liked me........

I had forgotten his name. Thank you for reminding me of it. Florentin is great in the management aspect too and atleast knows how to get Shutters organized, clients happy, served quickly, ......I would walk through there and he would call me over and say......"I found another one of Blake hidden under someone elses stack....I saved it for you"

ITA that the December crew in Shutters had no personallity. :sad2:

One last thing about Ash Wednesday . . . usually I go to the noon service and my kids have never gotten ashes, but I missed the noon service to have lunch with a friend so went last night at 6:30. My oldest daughter decided she wanted to go, so it was her first time to get ashes. By the end of the service she said her forehead was stinging and it looked red -- we washed it off right after the service because it was clear she was having some kind of reaction.

Now my question is -- is this some kind of Omen thing, like when Damien couldn't be baptized and started screaming? What does it mean that my daughter's body is rejecting ashes made from Palm Sunday crosses?

She would hate it if she knew I posted this, BTW . . .she is a redhead and has very sensitive skin and would probably want me to note that she has been baptized and takes communion regularly with no stomach upset!

:grouphug: :grouphug: your DD! :grouphug: :grouphug:
