HMMM...Is my internet here at work slow, or are the boards moving kinda slow this morning?

Figures...as soon as I say something, it starts to move more quickly...

Hazel is babysitting her niece's DD again today. Hailie brought her Snow White dress with her today to play dress-up. I just took this pic of Hailie aka Snow White. She also brought over her Cinderella dress. Funny thing is, Hailie is wearing her glass slippers with the Snow White dress. :goodvibes

Tomorrow I take my spouse to the airport - she will be gone from Tomorrow til wednesday next week. There are urgent health issues with a family member - so she is going to help out - lend a hand and eyes and ears for the rest of the family. I get to hold down the fort til next week... no school for the kids on friday and monday means I'll get wacked over the weekend.

So - you may not have me to kick around much... I'll come back to lurk after 1AM tonight when the DIS finishes updating... I'll be working my way backwards to try and reach my last posting. It's my way....
Hoping everything turns out OK.
Paula

My DH was in management at UPS for 18 years and although they are a good company, the higher ups that my DH had the last few years of his employment were horrible. He would come home miserable every day and the kids really started to hate UPS. So back in 2003 when we were on our Navigator of the Seas cruise - DH bought a voo doo doll as a souvenir in Labadee and as we are on the tender boat back to the ship - my DS who was 5 at the time was holding the doll and another cruiser saw it and said - WOW thats a nice doll - DS without even thinking - says -YEAH its my DADDYS Boss.... Im gonna be mean to him like he is to my Daddy. Of course we all started cracking up laughing but later when we thought about it - it was sad that a small child kept that bottled up inside. Thankfully now, DH has a great company and really nice bosses so no more bad feelings.
That really is funny. But it was a great outlet for your DS to vent with.

...in
my current work of helping others rebuild/recover their lives...I had to find ways to reach their emotional state ... ..."you just changed my life!" .... :thumbsup2 .thanks, so much for being so brave, and sharing
your family stories...[they are indeeds, helping/encouraging others] ...

Thanks everyone -

- I have not read everything between now and last nite... and I was trying not to say much here as I figured there is so much going on (I can never keep up enough to read everything that's written between my visits - and I am NOT complaining about that.... just a mentioning of MY inability to cover/read ALL the postings... but I read at least half if not more - especially those after and somewhat before my posting activity).

I digress... as I was saying... I was trying to not get into it much. No one can be very happy in dealing with chronic illnesses... especially with those dear to them. We - like most people have family of all ages and varied condition. I lost my Mom 19-20 years ago... I was the primary care provider (more so then my Dad... he sort of shut down after a while and was not much help... regretfully he was more a problem then anything else).

At any rate... we all have folks we care about. Eventually, something might threaten the life of one of them - and eventually it might even be yoor immediate family contending with threats. Well... our number is up and we are helping out with a family who is very ill and who is very close - to put it mildly.

For the moment - I'll just leave it at that. We hope (and privately, respectfully... pray) that we'll get good results in a few weeks/months or as long as it takes for some kind of result to show.

FOr now this is how I'll speak of it - and thank you for any who might have expressed something nice or sympathetic by way of reply on our "issue" here in the past and near future ... I'm trying to read everything between here and last nite when I fell asleep by the keyboard (again)... plus I'll read a little going forward some too. The usual checkerboard of coverage for me...

I seem to have fallen into a gap where the daily DIS site refreshing at 12:15 allows me to fall asleep while I wait forit it to come back...

Wow, finally got caught up. I had to log onto Mark's desktop to read the posts. I don't understand why his internet runs so much faster than mine. Probably because his is the main puter on the network. Mine is a laptop and usually has weird problems. I am currently trying to reduce some of my file sizes (mainly pictures) because I am using almost all the available space on that darn thing.

Anyway, I want to send prayers out to Crashes family, to Cinderella_Mom on her loss and her DH's health issues. :grouphug:

Also glad to see we have others with personality issues. I for one don't have a twin like Veranda Man, I just have multiple personalities. :rotfl2:

I hope everyone is having a good day and at least the sun is shining here. Too bad it is too cold to be outside for more than a minute or so.

I also wish everyone the best that is having a tough time right now with and serious issues regarding family or pets. Take care! :grouphug:

I must go get some housework done. Now that my DS is on the mend & back to school, I can get some stuff around here and boy does this house need some TLC right now. :scared:

TTFN!

I see from Lisa's (the GOOD one!) summary that I must have missed some sort of discussion/question about taking beverages onboard at the LA port?
I didn't take any alcohol the last time we went, but I did take my beloved PEPSI onboard.....not a problem at all.
I had it in a carry on bag that they sent through xray right before boarding. No one even looked at it funny.

That's so sweet. Pictures?

I told DH not to spend money on flowers this year. Guess what showed up at 10am at work?

Turned out to be a good thing as an hour later my mom called to tell me my aunt, her sister, had died of a heart attack this morning. My GM has now lost four of her kids, the last one just four months ago.

DH has been throwing up since 4pm due to a stress attack from studying for the Bar Exam (2nd time).

Sorry. Didn't mean to be a party pooper. It's been a rough day.

Was hoping my 500th post would be a bit cheerier. Again, sorry.

So sorry for your loss

Ketchup Time

Hey girlies whats up------
I saw my favorite MN crew on and I thought I would say Hello

I just missed you Judy! I must have been logging off when you were posting.
See, we TRIED to warn them about the groundhogs!

Looks like quite a few October anniversaries...ours is October 8, 1987.

October 8, 1994 !! It's my birthday too (ummm, different year). Great day!

Ok....gotta ask.... How do you pitch the idea to your DH of getting back on a ship for a 15 day cruise when he already spends all that time at sea? popcorn::

He hasn't been stationed on a ship for the last 8 years, so it is OK now. He's been working anti-terrorism units for the last 8 years, that means small boats (30ft-ish) that they pack up and take around the world. I REALLY wanted to go on a cruise for our honeymoon - that didn't go over real well since he was already spending over 180 days a year on a ship.

I'm sure sk8ingdad can help us out here. :boat:

I'm afraid to mention it to him! The ships he's sailed on were not, um, shall we say, cruise ship standards. One had a general emergency situation every time they left the dock. He jumps out of a sound sleep everytime the engines on the Magic change pitch!!

I LOVE PEPSI

Hey, I'm there with you, I will also be bringing my Pepsi on board. :woohoo:
I had some pepsi delivered to my stateroom on the last cruise, since the airlines have that no liquid over 3 oz in carryons. I did not trust the checked luggage enough to pack it in there.
