Welcome to everyone that is joining this cruise. Congrats Captain Crash for the pirate: Also I hope everyone is staying safe and warm in this cold spell that most of us are having. Thanks for the warning of the spam's. I didn't go to work today because of the icy mixture. So I'm sure I'll just delete them out.
If anyone is interested, here's my story. My DH didn't get down on one knee either, we were on vacation in Maine visiting my relatives for a family reunion. We were driving to get to my Aunt's house and passed a tuxedo place and I just mentioned that we could rent his tux here and get married as we had already discussed that we wanted to get married. He had said to ask my Aunt what we needed to do. I actually had to ask him if he was serious as I was only joking, Surprise. We arrived at my Aunt's house and DH said don't you have something to ask your Aunt so I asked her. Now everyone else in both of our families knew he was only going to propose while on vacation, we had our wedding in only 3 days. Thank goodness I had my Aunt to arrange a lot of stuff, we got my dress, some flowers, rented tuxes and prepared food. We go back to the hotel room we had and then DH said I might as well give you this (the ring) now since we are getting married. I think it was nice as I had more flowers that I didn't have to pay for as I had a whole potato field in bloom for my pictures.
Now the really strange part of this, he was my brother in law, he had been married to my stepsister although that was 4 years before we started dating. We will be married now for 16 years this July, been with him for 18 years. Wow I feel real old now.

Very nice!

You know, I never think of Maine as a potato state - Idaho seems to have the lock on that - even though I KNOW that they grow potatos there! I always think of Lobster when I think of Maine.

There are two group mailing lists right now. You can't put more than 100 on a list so there is a second list. Not everyone on the first list is getting the spam so this appears to be a random thing.

Ok Lisa, I read the explaination in your above post. Now I understand. Sorry, was just being a "Big Nose"

I just love hearing all the stories about how people met, how their spouses proposed, and how long they've been married/etc.

I'm afraid how we met is also not nearly as exciting (or as violent! :lmao: ) as some others. I had just broken off a relationship and went back to my hometown and previous job- met a friend at my place of employment who was in Texas because her husband was going to bootcamp for the army, and she was pregnant so they'd brought down his brother/her BIL to be with her while he was gone in case she went into labor/had the baby while her husband was gone to bootcamp.
She just INSISTED that I meet her BIL, I finally relented to giving her my phone number after I spied a look at him one day when he and his brother came to pick her up from work.
He called, several phone calls that were extensive in length (LOL you couldn't have guessed that with me eh?) and then we went on our first date and the rest is, as they say, history. What's interesting is that the day I gave her the phone number was the last day I saw her, until after Jeff & I were dating- because she quit the job and never showed back up again after that day! Good thing I gave her my phone number to give to him!

(said SIL/BIL have since been divorced for nearly as long as we've been married! They divorced about a year after we got married)

So I have the army to thank, I think. Cause they wouldn't have been in Texas but for that.

I guess you have never been to "The Big E"?

I will have to tell the story of my wedding in person. Just a little preview....it involved a number of arrests! :sad2:

Oh Boy, I'm so off the topic here but I just had to share my wonderful Valentine's Day and a happy ending. Sadly, I both my beautiful German Shepherds died suddenly within the last 6 months. The whole family was mourning them. Especially, DGS (Matt) as they were very attached and protective of him.
Well, we checked out the German Shepherd rescue website and Matt & I went today and brought home a lovely, young female Shepherd. We just got back home. Her name is Annie and already she & Matt have bonded.
I told DH forget the flowers this is the best Valentine's gift I could ever want.

Just had to share - now I'll go back and see what I've missed and what you guys are chatting about now.

Chris:yay:

Yet another great love story!

The recent spam stinks. That is so not cool. Can't believe a fellow cruiser would stoop so low.

The snow is still coming down. Only about 8 inches so far. I'm on the coast, but further inland got clobbered. Supposedly over 1,000 closing and cancellations were reported today. Just heard the sleet whipping against the window. Going to love catching the bus in the morning!

My life stories... mostly boring. ;) Never engaged. Never married. No sick or injured kids. But 6 nieces and nephews usually keep me busy.

<ahhhhh>

Speaking of nieces. My two youngest nieces called tonight to tell them that their daddy gave them a special present for Valentines day. We're all going to Boston on Saturday (Aquarium & Disney on Ice).... and guess how we're going to get there????

AMTRAK!!!! :scared1:

OK....

Time to read myself a bedtime story and get some sleep.

Good luck with the Amtrak! Remember to use the potty before you get on the train, and maybe borrow some of those Depends for the trip. You know how those train potties can be...

Arrests!! Ohhhh now that sounds juicy!!!

And you look so innocent Diane! :lmao: :lmao:

I guess you have never been to "The Big E"?

No - and every year we talk about going. We head up to the Yankee Candle flagship store 3 to 4 times a year and invariably we see advertising for the "The Big E" but never get there. Maybe this year as we are only doing day trips.

DH is home and wanting to eat his Valentine cupcakes (I love Starbucks . . .LOL)

I got him a $50 stateroom credit for the cruise. When I called DCL to purchase it, the CM thought it was so cool that we'll have a stack of stateroom credit when we get there and that card will say "Happy Valentine's Day 2007" DH was thrilled. :cloud9:

Special thanks to the person who shared that idea earlier in these lengthy postings.

Glad it worked! The first time I called, they said they needed to update the system to do the credits for that far in the future. Fotunately, it was working in time for Valentine's Day presents for our hubbies!

I did the stateroom credits for gifts leading up to our last cruise, and it was really neat to re-live the holidays through the cards.

Oh No ...you werent one of this prison brides or anything were you ???:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

pirate:

Capt I meant to ask you 50 or so pages back....Did you ever buy Melissa an engagement ring after she bought you one, or just a wedding band. Just wondering what the reverse protocol is for future reference :lmao:

Well I don't have a secret marriage but how about this......

Me & DH bought a townhouse right before we got married. Well it wasn't completed on time. They said it would be ready 2 to 3 weeks after we returned from our honeymoon. So after our honeymoon we each went back to OUR MOTHER'S HOUSES! My DM wouldn't let me spend the night with my legally wedded husband! DH use to call for me at my DM's house and we would commute to work together. Sometimes we didn't even eat dinner togther. Well, you guessed it, two weeks turned into 3 months :scared1: Finally, my DH drove out to the builders office an explained our delicate situation and through himself on the mercy of the builder. Well being a fellow swabbie, he put all his guys on the job pronto and we were able to move in the very next weekend! I guess I don't have to tell you what that weekend was all about ;) ;) ;) ;)

People can never get over that story! But it's 100% true! My poor DH, how does he put up with it all!

OH my goodness! That's funny and awful all at the same time!

They got me, I just deleted it.

The "Maine" building serves the biggest baked potatoes I have ever seen with your choice of toppings. It's enough to keep you full for lunch and dinner - YUM!!!

Enna I tell you what it was awful, really, really awful when we were living it, but it's kinda funny now (in a not-so-funny kinda way). But it's always a good story to tell!
