I knew I should have kept Angelina home from school today. We just received a call from the school nurse. Angelina injured her hand in gym class, nothing serious, the nurse was putting an ice pack on Angelina's hand and a splint on one of the fingers. I talked to Angelina and she said he doesn't hurt enough to come home, which is a good sign. We'll see how it goes by the time school is over.

:wizard: pixie dust for Angelina's hand and for your drive topick her up later:wizard: stay safe!!!

that is just so inexcusable!!!!

our cruise we had a really rough night on the last night (of course at the end of a wonderful uneventful cruise though) - I will admit to being pretty scared and not getting sleep - but it never occurred to me to blame anyone or take it out on any CM????:confused3 (though I did want to call during the night and say "um, is this OK - should I be worried???"..but I didn't want to appear too chicken!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: )

Darlene--I got so sick that night! I was the only one of my family to get sick and I think it was because I got up at 12m to take the empty hangers out of the closet as they were banging into each other. By the time I returned to bed.....ugh! I did NOT feel good!

FUNNY GIRL!!

I merely attended and enjoyed but would be more than happy to share what little I remember reading about the problems the organizer encountered, most of which by the way were DCL headaches.

Michelle

Well, if your committee contribution is "DCL pitfalls to avoid" then that's a MAJOR contribution!

Lisa--add Michelle to the Wine & Cheese committee before she talks herself out of it. :)

My wife just left to head off to O'Hare. I told her to just delay her flight until tomorrow, but SWMBO does not listen to me. I'm afraid they will just cancel her flight anyway and she'd have gone all the way down there for no reason.

Just spoke to DW a little while ago. She has been on and off a plane at Phil. Int'l for the last 7 hours. As of now, they're on the plane, waiting in a long line to be de-iced. Could take them a few more hours to take off. Or, it could take them a few more hours to decide to cancel the flight and send everyone home.

She's heading to San Diego for a big meeting that she is largely responsible for. I guess her boss, who went out a day earlier to do a site visit in San Fransisco will have to run the meeting if DW can't get there. That would actually be really fun to see!:rolleyes1

DH finally made it home from MD - took about 3 hours longer than normal, but he is home!!!! Thank you to everyone who sent good wishes along earlier today - I really appreciate it!!!!!:wizard:

Unfortunately, I think your hubby was driving along with the storm. I'm sure it wasn't such a fun drive for him, but I'm glad he's home safe & sound!

Happened to call up to NY (Watkins Glen area) today, and they said they already had 14 inches of snow on the ground. Hope you are staying warm & safe indoors today!

I read the DISboard rules, I don't think there's a problem making a book recommendation? Lisa, please feel free to let me know if I'm in the wrong.

Also, I hope the Panama Canal veterans pardon me. As a Panama Canal newbie, I've been trying to soak in information on this cruise, and this may seem trivial, but I just ordered and received the book "Panama Canal by Cruise Ship", written by Anne Vipond. It's really pretty impressive, a tour book and history book in one, so I thought I might suggest it for other newbies too.

It gives detailed history of the Panama area going back to the first Spaniards who were led by Natives across the 40 mile "Isthmus of Panama" to the Pacific ocean, leading up through the 1849 gold rush and development of the world's first transcontinental railroad over the Isthmus to help prospectors go west. Then France's struggles and failure on the first canal. And then the U.S. helping Panama become independent from Colombia and signing the agreement for perpetual control over the building and control of the 10 mile wide zone around the canal, detailed information on the construction of the canal and recent history as the canal zone was ceded it back Panama by the Carter administration.

Of course, as a tour book, it has lots of information on Ports of Call, including history, culture, shore excursions and shopping tips. It includes information on all of the Disney Ports of Call except Castaway Cay:rolleyes: . Lots of colorful pictures and maps. Great book, I thought it was well worth the $16.

that book sounds great!!!!:) thank you for passing along the recommendation!!!!:thumbsup2 I am going to check that out....

Ketchup Time!
Hmm....that will make the "Bring a Bottle of your Local Area wine for a Wine & Cheese Party" party a bit more complicated.

If anyone is still interested in a Wine & Cheese party, I bet we could do one by picking 2-3 varieties of wine & asking each participant to bring a bottle. Then we could compare the different vinyard's interpretations of each varietal.

Or, is that too darned educational for a vacation?

I like educational on vacation - I also read 2-3 books on each cruise. What do you non-readers do while laying in the sun? I have the attention span of a 4yo, I need to read.

And I like wine.

And cheese.

I'm still interested and would like to be on the committee to help plan it (notice I said committee)!

TASK FORCE!!
So everyone thinks I'm crazy. I work in non-profit world where we rely on volunteers and coalitions to get things done. We have a saying: "standing committees just stand, task forces complete tasks." Besides, task force sounds cooler & a lot less painful to serve on.

I'll volunteer to help with the wine & cheese. Sign me up, Lisa!

That's cool we might be able to have it in one of the clubs. I got the impression earlier on that we were waiting for someone to graciously offer up their suite. We would be a just a bit cramped in my Cat 9.

:lmao: :lmao:
Yes, lets please keep this straight for when bday rolls around - I won't be 68!

OK, that's it - I'm changing my name to sk8ingmom25.

Drinking and education should not be mixed.

Hey Joel - she obviously didn't go to OU!

That’s inconceivable?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Interesting PC info I found:

Each passage through the canal requires 52 million gallons of freshwater to float the ship through the locks. .

Wonder why all the freshwater?

For folks who have been on before, do you stay on the ship while going through TPC?

Wishing it was 2008 already!

:confused3 .. hostile intents toward those cute lil'groundhogs?

:thumbsup2 joel, i know that trek well, once taking a couple of
hours..if you catch my driff [ or that fluff..via the wenches' -"rules".]

my wife wanted to asked , "have any of you ran into crusiers,
that thought they owned the boat?...so it's ironic some are posting
such "bad" encounters. i know wew had a few sprinkled in our
several cruises. once i was feeling ill at the farewell party & asked
two guys behind me to open a lane. what they did were to locked their
arms...i just went right thru them..but what i should've done was throw
up on'em! at another farewell..some adult made our daughter cried..
i didn't see it but a very nice lady [from naples] did, and she "tear"
into him! later she went to guest services who came to our room &
made it up to jordan. ( he must have brought out her mother's
instincts..poor devil!)

gty?..i know some are saying we're in..but i have concerns based on
what happened & reading the horror storys..ok, we have a confirmation
number on the dcl site..but what does that actual means since
we don't have any rooms? we have 2 rooms..but i get the feeling we
won't even be on the same deck...have anyone seen that commercial..of
the guy at the diner, eating lunch..while they kept upping the price?
{from $ 2.99--thru $69.99) & he kept looking at his wallet?
let say that every time we go to disney, i know his feeling! too good!
:headache: ,that is! [ iam afraid if we enter our family..we'll be jinix!]

:flower3: ladies day..to the wenches! yesterday, i read about the dolllie's
stories...one or 2 interesting stories..esp. about "pulling" the barbie's
arm....sounded good to me...but pay no attention if my lil' cutie pie of
a pirate..c/o arm pain :rolleyes1 '

* ok, a real valentine story; we keep a tri-frame with all our kids'
baby's pics. [ popcorn:: don't mean to brag..but our babies were the
cutest ever! ...including the middle one even though his head set
records for him and my wife...:scared1: ]... any hoo..one day ,
our lil' princess: ..saw the pics..and claimed "all" of them. well even
though they "covered" 15 years, if you saw their pics..you will see
why my daughter thought they were all of her...why valentine day?
nothing more important than holding life dear..therefore, nothing
is above then finding that special person to share one's life with.
[ & a lil' pixiedust: ]...so 2 me, its a day of rejoicing! :yay:

ok...we been together for a very long time...what to do, what to
say?...since i'm very plain & simple= her favorite chocolate bar &
a note of appreciation..."to the sweetest and prettiest thing i know,
just because everything you do, makes me feel special! guess who?"

glad he did well too... That's a lonnnnngggg drive in bad weather..

:) thank you!!!:)

he is "kind of" used to it...we used to live in MD and had to make the drive home for holidays, etc - there were a few dicey trips through the hills in PA - but we did try to avoid travel this time of year - I am just so glad he is home safe!!!:)

pirate: WELCOME ABOARD BEV AND FAMILY!!!!pirate:

Just wanted to let everyone know that last night I edited the summaries a bit. They are all now in 1000 blocks and all the references to links are hyperlinks so you just need to click on the words to take you to the link. This is instead of having to look for a certain page or post #. I hope that it makes it easier for people to go back & find some of the information that has been posted. I'm also cleaning it up to make it easier when it is time to transfer the information to the website. :thumbsup2

Lisa, just looked at the front page (looks nice btw - thank you for doing that). I did notice that your summaries go from 19,000-20,000 to 21,000-22,000. You left out 20,000-21,000, but it looks like the info under 21-22K is for that block.

Not all hotels are smoke free, there are still some with smoking rooms.
But all restaurants are. You won't get asked if you want smoking or non, because it's all non. Bars are supposed to be smoke free too, but many bar owners don't comply simply because they would lose their customers. Then again, doubt you'll be visiting bars while at DL. Unless of course its the Cove Bar in California Adventure.....great margaritas and lobster nachos.

Monica:

making a note about margaritas and lobster nachos!!!!:thumbsup2 Thanx!

ANDY!!.....Shocking that YOU would come up with that!! Now my image of you is totally different. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I can see the summary for this 1,000 now....

blah, blah, blah Sweet Innocent Andy shows everyone his dirty side.

Wonder why all the freshwater?

For folks who have been on before, do you stay on the ship while going through TPC?

Wishing it was 2008 already!

:cheer2:

I think it's because they get the water from the lake, which is freshwater? :confused3

So has anyone done the math recently with posts? (as in how many are we slated to have by cruise time?) What's our daily average lately? Looks like we may be close to 1,000 daily...But I could be wrong...Anyone have that # handy? If so, I can figure it up really quickly. Oh, well! Let's just say we'll have A LOT by cruise time! (How many hundreds of thousands? I dunno...:confused3 )
