:lmao:
You know Crash, several years ago I went through the Dale Carnegie program and one of the things you do is a word association thing with your name - I picked out truck to go with mine!:lmao:

How ya doing today Andy?

It's DS's B-day today, but his party is tomorrow for the family. I have to set up a treasure hunt in the house.

DW got a treasure hunt kit online, and for a 7 year old, it's kinda cute. I'll post a couple of the clues.

That sounds like a lot of fun....my kids love those things. Hope he has a great day!

Happy Birthday to ....Lisa....Alan.....Kandi!!

I have moved up on the list!!!!

Good morning everyone....

Have to check update...wasn't around yesterday...rough day....

Happy Saturday!

I hope you have a better day today!

I am very interested in this port. I am going to work with my DD over the summer doing a report on Cartagena and TPC, in the hopes she can appreciate the opportunity we have a bit more. It really is "A Trip Of A Lifetime".

We also loved Colonial Williamsburg. Well, except we went in July and I thought DH was going to drop from the heat. Did you get to see the musician (forget his name) that plays the Armonica?

Would you like to work on the research for that port for our group website?

hope everyone is fine this grand saturday morning. Sun is shining, and its above zero !!!!

Mark

:lmao: Well I didn't say I'd NEVER wear black. I just didn't like the idea of wearing it all day on August 17th. On pirate night is a different story... it's NIGHT, therefore cooler plus everyone will be in pirate garb and we're in the restaurants, etc.

I'm really looking forward to Cartegena also. I think we will do a DCL excursion at this port, though.

The people asking for money that you spoke of.....were they really bold about it? Did it frighten your kids at all?

I'm glad to see discussion of Cartegena. I can't image DCL going somewhere unsafe, but Columbia makes me uncomfortable. I was kinda hoping we'd stop in Belize, but that's not exactly a safe place either. I guess the key is that these countries really need our tourism dollars so they will work with someone like DCL to make sure that we have a good experience there.

I vote for the DCL excursions on that one. DH may not even want to get off the ship. I know I will for at least a little bit so I can have a break from the rocking.

Well, off to do things. Still gotta scrapbook our January cruise. I only have 10 pages done!

Sun is shining here, too, Mark! Birds are churping. We're counting on the groundhog being correct. I am ready for spring!! We actually may get into the 40's today. Haven't see that in a week or two. We just aren't used to it here . . .And I refuse to try . . .LOL

Enjoy your sunshiny Saturday!

Someone posted on the main cruise forum they felt EUROPE and Med cruises were unsafe????????? I have been to Cartegena it is safe.

Would it be illegal to buy emeralds in cartenga? It is my mom's birthstone and I would like to get some (ok I would probably only be able to get one!lol).

Yeah, I saw that one, too. To each their own . . . everyone can choose whether to take a particular cruise, whether to get off the ship, whether to take DCL excursion or go on their own, etc., etc.

Personally I can't imagine not getting off the ship at a port! Cartegena sounds really exciting, and a place I wasn't likely to pick on my own, so I'm glad we are stopping there.

No in fact many shore trips take you to the jewellary shops and encourage you to buy, presume cruise line gets commission, we brought Emeralds last time.

Some folks are afraid of the dark, too. . . LOL

My sister travels worldwide for her job supporting the State Dept (and now Homeland Security). She's been to places you and I are not allowed to travel to or wouldn't want to (like Guana). I think there places you need to be more on your guard, but she has never felt unsafe. I have noticed she doesn't travel to a lot of middle eastern countries. Maybe b/c she lived in Israel for awhile. Other than that . . .

Anyway, she was robbed in Belize and thought the place was very disappointing (esp since it was high on my list for places to visit). Maybe I'll try Costa Rica instead . . .

What did you like about Cartegena, Andrew?

Look at the first line on this one:-
Cartagena City Tour

DURATION: Approximately 4 hours
PRICE: $49 Adult $29 Child

Once a preferred target for pirates until construction of an impressive fortress, Cartagena earned the reputation as the treasure chest of the Spanish Main. Travel by bus past the Manga residential area's restored mansions. Visit the monastery with its ornate, 22-karat gold foil altar and a lovely, flower-filled courtyard, then stop at the Fort of San Felipe de Barajas, a 17th-century work of Spanish Military engineering.

At Las Bovedas (The Dungeons), there's time for handicraft shopping. Pass through Simón Bolivar Square and the Inquisition Palace before continuing on to the Church of San Pedro Claver--the patron saint of slaves. After a short folkloric show and a soft drink in the old walled city, continue to the modern residential area of Bocagrande, famous for its variety of emeralds, handicrafts and leather goods shops.

NOTES:
Guests may choose to remain in town for more extensive shopping and return to the ship on their own

That one sounds like something the kids would enjoy & we would all learn something too. I can't wait to see everything offered so that we can decide. It is quite affordable too. :thumbsup2

Does anyone else love scrapbooking these trips? Wonder if we could setup some scrapbooking time onboard??
