Just to say evening and is this a record my Repo cruise for 2008 is fully paid now!!!! Paid the balance tonight.

Wow!! I think if you have a GTY you should get to pick your room now. Heck, through in your prefered dining, Palo ressies, and blowing the horn!:goodvibes

Hello, just dropping in to let you know we are joining you in August 2008.
Me, DH, DS (14 by then), DD (11 by then).

I know I'm cruising with Bellelinus (Hey Julie:yay: ), we met on the Wonder in August 2006. I'm a newbie to these big DIS cruises though. This looks like it's going to be alot of fun.

I've got my banner and ticker and I'm ready to go :cool1:

Laurie

Hi Laurie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will be great to be on a ship with you and your crew for 15 days . . .

My girls still talk about standing in the embarkation line and having you ask me "Are you bellelinus?"

--Julie

Not sure if it is or isn't beacuse we don't know the ages of your kids
We paid 9672.86 for 2 adults, 2 kids age 13 & 11 in a cat 4

I think this is with a 10% discount? The starting price is just under $8000 for 2 adults before taxes and fees.

Hey Peter my brother lives in Howard Beach. It's really nice there! My brother's name is Walter, do you know any Walter's? Oh yeah, and my sister is Johna!

Mary Rose

Sorry don't know :confused3 any Walters, but my wifes name is Johnna also, we live around the block fom PS 207 on the new side.

Anyone read popular Mechanics?

In the current issue they cited how ships transiting the Panama Canal can line up and wait for days sometimes to get through! Last August one ship waited a week for its' turn to go - plus the Panama Canal authority instituted an aution process where a ship owner could bid to move to the fron to f the line. The highest bid on record was $220,000 for an oil tanker to move up. AND in that case the total cost for the transit in this case was $just over $400,000! Than implies the normal fee for passage was $180,000! Daily operating cost for some ships was also cited as being as high as $30,000 a day. So the 7 day delay cost the ship owner $280,000! One of the 2 locks closed abruptly for unscheduled maintenance when all these delays occurred.

So... what do you suppose DCL is paying for our ride through the Panama Canal? If a tanker is $180,000... then what would the Magic cost... $150,000... or $200,000? And what if you had a little motor boat - or yacht? DO they charge based on tonnage or on a percentage of revenue the ship is running - if a commercial ship?

OK... enuf for goofing around... I gotta turn away for a bit... I'll be back...:thumbsup2

Here's hoping for unscheduled maintenance!:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

I just noticed you can get a Cat 5 for the repo on DCL's website.

Not sure if any other room categories will become available soon (we're looking at changing our room location).

I just checked and there is still nothing Avail ...:confused3

UPDATE: As soon as it came, it went. Now we're back to getting the error message on DCL's site.

BTW, the error message was not there this morning. It just kept going back to the reservation screen.

There you go! Our Captain's shirt can say TAKE WHAT YOU CAN and the rest of ours GIVE NOTHING BACK...:rotfl:

I think the front of the shirt should say TAKE WHAT YOU CAN..... and the reverse say GIVE NOTHING BACK!

Does anyone know--

If I transfer my DCL ressie to DU, will I still be able to call DCL directly to buy stateroom credits?

When we know we're cruising, I buy stateroom credits for DH for things like Valentine's Day, Father's Day, etc. That way he gets a card from me and a small gift on the holiday, plus a big stack of room credit cards printed by DCL on the cruise.

I'm on a mission to make it an almost comical stack of stateroom credits, since I have 18 months to work on this project, and I don't want to be ticking off a TA by calling every 4-6 weeks to buy a credit.

No, you will have to make payments thru DU. I think that you can do that online and not have to call anyone. :thumbsup2

Must of gotten snatched up - I checked and saw it also, but only a gty.

Sorry, I was posting when your posts were coming up.

I didn't go as far as to see what they were offering for the room availability.

I bet is was just one room/booking available.

I'm hoping that things start to open in the next couple of days. Deposits on the WL ressies should be due pretty soon.

Now that would be my ideal job!!! Working in a SB store! :goodvibes Maybe I would actually get something done.

DW is on :cloud9: because there is an Archiver's store here :) We were there last week and she found some Disney stuff. I think between now and embarkation day she should be able to find a few things for the door  Well between them, the Michael's coupons and QVC offering an 8000 piece set for $25 not to mention the Nutrsystem deals, she's gonna have fun getting ready :yay:

edited to add : I didn't realize Cinderella 3 came with a pin until reading it here yesterday - thank you everyone...sounds like I will pick one up for DD 's Val's day as well....please tell me it is better than Cinderella 2?????

The pin is only at Target. ;) Since we enjoy C2 here, not sure but I think that it is more interesting.

I think she was referring to the credits you can put on your room for spending while cruising.

The answer to that would be yes, you can call DCL directly for that. I have done it with all my ressies and I held none of them. I've used AAA, DU and Magical Journeys. Never had an issue getting the room credits myself.

I don't have the number here, but I can post it later if you'd like.

Sorry - typo there - we are in a cat 6

TG! I was begining to want to kick myself for not even asking about the Cat 4 because the kids rate is much higher there than the lower catagories. With your pricing it was very cheap! Now I see why.:goodvibes

I really think it's the hormones kicking in - our DS11 is pretty much the same. We're trying to be as supportive as possible and have also limited things like how long he can play video games, etc.

But I have to tell you, he has exchanged a couple of emails with buckifan/Deena's son Drew and he suddenly wants to check his email and do things so he has something to talk about. In many ways I think this cruise is going to help him get through some of the pre-teen/early teen stuff.

That is so cute.....Joe sounds like a great kid...

Please don't mention UK roundabouts. I had the unfortunate pleasure of having to go through the "Magic Roundabout" in Swindon whilst visiting the corporate offices there. My head is still dizzy.

In NJ, no one follows the right of way. It is dictated by which road leading in is the biggest.:lmao:

Now the ones I ran into in Cape Cod were different. People actually obeyed the right of way.:rolleyes1

Originally from Jersey myself, I always thought it was the car that determined the right of way...the nicer one always backs down to the clunker! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I figure each operating day of the ship (revenue) plus overhead must be enough for Disney to pay for priority ONE treatment through the locks...

Just on our sailing... 877 cabins at an average say $6000 per cabin (at least that's my average among the 9 cabins we have) is $5,262,000 plus an estimated 1500 in secondary ship related expenses ($500 in gratuities on average?) adds another 1,315,500 for a total of 6,577,500 plus the cost of operating the ship itself puts the daily franchise unit value at about $1 million a day.

At this kind of valuation... if the cost difference between waiting in line and paying a premium for "front of the line" privilage is say $80,000 on a final tab of $180,000 ... it is obviously worth it to avoid any delays.

Too bad, eh?:scared1:

Nothing showing for 2A or 2A2K for me at 11:31 am. :confused3

If you have a GTY, you can't call in & request or choose a stateroom. :sad1:
