Hi everyone - just got caught up again... This working all day and then chaufering around DS7 really cuts into DIS time!
Would you believe that last night DH noticed that
DCL never charged our VISA for the deposit on our "placeholder" cruise from our Jan13 Western rebooking? Fortunately, it doesn't impact this Pirate cruise at all -but it seems to be the same problem some folks here had in December and I saw another post from the week before we sailed. They just failed to charge our card and then dropped the ressie! I called today and a supervisor has "reinstated" my reservation but their procedures require that they email Leslie on the Magic to confirm that we did make the reservation onboard with her. The supervisor is supposed to call me back tomorrow with the OK to proceed and then get our VISA number for the deposit. Since we are one of the few that totally lucked out and were allowed to fill out a form on board that added us to IC's list AND we lucked out in that IC actually did their job and had a ressie in the system for us - this placeholder reservation isn't vitally important. We are considering keeping it so we can book a cruise when 2009 becomes available and move this ressie - but maybe not - I sort of hate to let DCL hold my deposit cash for that long ... Anyway, we decided to make DCL fix it just because they shouldn't be making this type of mistake in the first place! We happened to notice what happened, but what about people who book it and then don't really pay any attention to it for months since the next cruise is so far off?
The really weird bit is that when I called the
Castaway Club number this evening to take care of this (too busy at work today to call from there) I actually got the same CM that I talked to on the 30th. I had called then to find out why IC had never called us, since Leslie (on board booking) had told us when we filled out the form that we would be called "before the 31st". Of course, I knew from the DIS that almost no one seemed to have been called - but I called and played dumb. He was really trying to help and tried to tell us to just wait and IC would call in a few days - of course, we didn't believe him and joined the frantic calling on the 31st with everyone else - but when we finally got through, DCL had our reservation in the system and we just had to confirm we wanted it and pay the deposit. I felt so bad watching all the panic here that day when it worked out so perfectly for us - I don't know why lady luck smiled on us this time, we aren't usually all that lucky with stuff!
Anyway - I guess its sort of a good and bad contrast story: DCL really did great for us for this cruise

and totally screwed up our other booking

.
Well, it looks like LOST is finally over. I don't watch it since I can't handle suspense or scary stuff at all (I never watch anything that might bother "more sensitive viewers"

) and DH was watching it in our bedroom. Now that the TV is off, I'm going to go collapse. Thankfully, tomorrow should be less hectic (except that I am going to start setting up the new PC's at work so who knows what that will bring ...)
Night-night All!
