This is a picture of the lanyard we received as a gift from a fellow Diser(first timers). We also are showing the Castaway Club lanyard. The name tag had our board name as well as our first name. When we saw the blue lanyards we knew instantly they were fellow Disers. We obtained the lanyards at a pre cruise meeting on deck 10 above Scoops before the cruise sailed.

I thought this was a great idea and it really worked!!!!

I like the lanyards also. I like that the blue one was personalized. I usually wear one most of the time while cruising.

Ditto. We promised our dolphin loving oldest daughter on the LAST cruise but we weren't able to in Cozumel because of the hurricane. I think they had it in Costa maya but we already had the ruins package planned. :(

I'm not sure what we are going to do at each port- but at the moment it looks like dolphin swim at whatever ports we can for us, scuba diving for DH. :rotfl: I told him listen, you can't scuba dive at EVERY PORT because if you do, we won't spend any time together! When he went scuba diving in Cozumel he was gone all day! (me and the kids did the submarine thing there)

I am sort of sorry this cruise won't be stopping at Curacao. They had a great little aquarium with a dolphin excursion and swim. We booked the swim directly and it was MUCH cheaper than other places, and much cheaper than the DCL excursion at the same place. The dolphins were in an ocean pen (VERY large) with a rock wall which they could have easily jumped over, but they seemed very happy and well taken care of. My DD was in a group of 4 and they had 3 dolphins for their group (2 adults and a baby). They were in the water with them for a long time, and the families were welcome to stand right there and take photos or video. They also took professional video and our group bought one DVD. It was a fantastic experience. Perhaps Aruba will have something like that.

Denise :)

That sounds like a lot of fun. We did the dolphins at Cici Water Park in Alc. I really enjoyed it, but it would have been great in an ocean pen.

I know -- I had quite a bit of trouble with the math (remember, I am a simpleton) when Lisa asked for kids' ages. Did she want their current age? Their age on the cruise? And Thing 2 (DS-currently-10) has a birthday ON the cruise.

For the website, send the age that they will be the day we get on the ship. :thumbsup2 They will all be sorted by age group in the clubs with one page for each. They will be able to look at one page for everyone who will be in there with them.

We found that our kids couldn't really use the Castaway Club lanyards on the last cruise. Either the lanyards were too big, or the kids too little. The lanyard would either slide off the shoulder or trip them up when they were walking. Ultimately, I would end up carrying them, so I was quite quick to pack them away.

Also, DH *must* wear an ID lanyard for work, so he wants to be lanyard-free on vacation.

Since we will be spending a good deal of time in the pool and on beach excursions, I'd really prefer something that can be worn in the water. The bracelet idea appeals to me. Even if the bracelets are too big for the kids' wrists (as our CC ones were), they will be more than happy to put them on an ankle.

After you posted this message, I received an e-mail from a friend with this link, take a look see. The video is titled, "Why I moved South" but I guess it could be West in your case. http://www.king5.com/sharedcontent/...www.king5.com/kiraw_011607portlandhomevid.wmv

We're pretty much doing the same, tax return, DH's year end comp time payout, next years return and hopefully year end bonus for me. But I thought I would also make monthly payments - this way I'm earning interest on some of the money and if I need it for something else, I have it.

I usually don't pay until like maybe a month before the due date or something like that. I can pay last minute because I'll pay with my credit card (and then pay the credit card off with the money I saved- without accruing any finance fees or charges and this way I get the points on my card for the entire cruise amount!) -so I don't usually pay it early. That way all my money is earning interest up until I pay the bill off, and I'd have all of it if I need it for something else but perish the thought! I have no intentions of giving up this cruise. :lmao:

Hope it wasn'y too cold for you today Andy. It was windy to.

It was just as bad as yesterday, but since I had all outside meters to read today, I didn't have any warm house to get into. I was working in a more rural area of our township, so I was able to have the work car near by at all times. I also put on my Pirate sweatshirt over my insulated flannel shirt, and that helped a great deal to keep the body heat in!!!! We're supposed to be below freezing at least until Saturday, with some light snow overnight.

Come on Spring, didn't that groundhog predict an early Spring??? :confused3

That's a great idea for adults too!

I know how your DH feels too - we have to wear lanyards at tradeshows and our company convention (so the collectors will wear theirs and know who we are!).

Don't tap the top -- tap the SIDES.

You see, when a can is shaken, bubbles of gas form on the inside of the can. When you open the can, the pressure goes down and the bubbles expand, forcing out the soda. Tapping the sides all around dislodges the bubbles.

I learned this at a science experiment with our Cub Scout troop. The guy shook up a can of pop (born in PA, living in IL, so it is pop again) and had one of the kids aim it at his parent. He flicked the sides of the can all around with his finger and it did NOT explode.

I will have to try that the next time one of the kids drops my soda can bringing it to me. Thankfully, I have been lucky that the top tapping has worked up until now.

That has to be one of the best desserts. We always go to Palo with 6 or more and we get the back room and time it so the sun sets while were eating dinner. Ho Huuum!

In my best Homer Simpson voice - mmmmmmm lobster...

DS will be all over those lobster tails. My mom says we have champagne taste on a beer budget - the last time she said it, I told her that we've moved up to mixed drinks!:rotfl:
