I forgot that one year ago yesterday is when I posted this.

I have been following with great interest in anticipation of the 2008 itinerary announcement. Well I could not believe that some kind of news has not been discovered as to the 2008 itineraries. So being the internet person that I am, I went in search of an answer. After hours of searches I came across this which answers all of our questions. According to the linked permit from the Port of Los Angeles, DCL (otherwise known as Magical Cruise Company) has been granted a permit for conducting business out of the Port of Los Angeles from May 1, 2008 through September 15, 2008 for the purpose of family cruises to Mexico.

So you are like me, got a quote for the heck of it and then couldn't argue with the price?

yes the repo had such a better price i think it was only like 800 dollars more if i remember correctly from the 7 night mexican rivera to the aug repo for a cat 11

It may just come to a dollars and cents thing, but what did Ben Franklin say about penny wise and dollar foolish.

It can be expensive to get a passport for a family of 5 or 6 ....

But then, in another year you will need it for Carribean ports too....

Yes, it can. There are 5 of us traveling (our 3 youngest children, dh and myself) but, we like to be prepared! LOL!

And we do travel out of the country more then just the cruises. Even if it were *just cruising* we would still have passports for everyone. :)

The downside to that is the kids have to get renewed every 5 years vs 10 for the adults. We are going to have to get the girls renewed pretty quick as they expire 3 months after we get back and I confirmed that Colombia requries 6 months left..

I know that. ;) Our oldest *child* is 27 and our youngest is 6. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: We've paid for alot of Passports! :rotfl2:

Happy Birthday Madison (DD13 GoofyontheHiSeas )

Youngest DD was technically premature but at 35 weeks she was 8 lbs 13 ozs. Not so much preemie about that. I had been going to multiple maternal specialists every week since conception so we could avoid what happened to oldest DD so they were positive she was 35 weeks.
The Dr. the day before estimated her weight at 4 pounds. I was so tired of being monitored multiple times a week that I was begging them to let DD be born. They said "Oh my no, that baby would be only 4 pounds!". I said "So, what, her sister was 1 pound, 4 pounds looks good to me". :rotfl2: 8 lbs, 13 ozs was quite a shock to us all. I felt like I had already missed part of her childhood being born that big. :) I say her sister open her eyes for the 1st time at 2 weeks old. Miranda probably could have walked herself out of the hospital. :lmao:

That's what we said about my son. 6 weeks early, 8lbs, 5 oz....and in the incubator in the NICU. He looked like a Butterball turkey. It was embarrassing to even go up there, with all the parents of the teeny tiny ones staring at us!
I shudder to think how big he would have been if he'd gone full term! :scared1:

For those who didn't follow the passport discussion back in August and May and whenever else we groundhogged it, there are some horror stories about people trying to get passports and the time it takes. (of course there are a few exceptions that had them back quickly).

I would strongly encourage anyone who needs passport or renewal to do them sooner rather than later.

Some of the problems have been:

  • taking 16-25 weeks to come in
  • spelling errors when they come in a week before the cruise
  • lack of ability to talk to Customs/check on line resulting in long waits on hold

This has been said before, but Cartegna is *NOT* part of the no-passport deal. If you're on the Repo cruise, you will need a passport. Start now.

Think we will get accused of fluffing when the DIS hiccups?

Ummm...Probably.

Congrats, Roger on *another* pirate.

Pete, the costume looks great. Nice work (on both it & the pic posting).

Thanks! I am so computer "not savvy" it isn't funny, glad you like it.

Maybe not savvy on computer but with a needle and thread you kick butt.... Your costume looks great...

DD was 6 lbs 12.5 oz and 21 inches. So tall and skinny. At least the tall part stuck....

I'm kinda glad she was born earlier... At their full term estimate, she would have weighed over 8 lbs for sure...

I give up trying to find a "good" picture of me. Apparantly my picture is only taken on vacation and most of the time I look not so nice on vacation.
Here is my attempt:
These were from Alaska
