Roger & Mike ...

You guys better watch out that Cheryl doesn't ensnare you with a spell or something. With her high speed line shes' found expansive new powers ... sufficient to drain the bandwidth capacity of photobucket!

spiral.gif

Frankly, I don't know WHAT to do... she's become more and more powerful with each passing day and hour!

Tom I think that you are the one that should be watching out.:scared1: Afterall it is your title that she is after.

Aw....I missed out on the pirate run.

1) Tell us something about your spouse we probably don't know...?

Maybe you guys can tell me. :confused3 Haven't got a spouse yet. Anyone got an available brother?

2) Have you considered any new Years' resolutions? If so, would you like to share them?

I usually don't make resolutions. I don't want to set myself up for failure.

3) When you proposed or were proposed to last - what was passing through your mind silently? Anything in particular worth sharing?

See #1 above

4) If you have a PET... what did he or she do the last time they were "naughty"?

Freddy grabbed a trash bag and dragged it all over the house tonight.....TWICE.....DS was too absorbed in the Titans game to take care of it the first time the dog got it.

5) When was the last time you were sick more or less? What did you comedown with?

Battling what I believe is a sinus infection right now. I was sick with a cough for about 4 days. Then the congestion and headaches set in. I thought I was also getting a tooth ache but I'm thinking it's probably sinuses. Generall the side of my face and my ear hurt. It's been about 10 days total now since the cough first started. I'm starting to feel better tonight. Which is unusual, since mostly I've felt worse at night. So hopefully it's starting to go away.

6) When was the last time you got a ticket (moving violation, infraction or parking)

About 5 years ago and I'm still bitter about it. I was coming off the freeway to an intersection that does not allow a right turn on a red light. There's a street to the right of the offramp so it's a 3 way signal. My light was yellow the entire time I made the turn. When I got pulled over the office originally stated that I was on Swan's Way (the street to the left, not the offramp). If I had been on Swan's Way it would have been a red light violation. I repeatedly maintained that I was on the offramp and did not have a red light. I tried to fight it in court, but the office changed his tune and no longer said I was on Swan's Way, this time he said I was on the offramp. Even when I pointed out the discrepancy, the judge wouldn't budge. I told him it was unfortunate that us regular folks will never be believed and the office will always win even when he's wrong. I was so mad....still am.

7) And for thefinal question posed in 2007 ... by popular demand.... Tell us something about you we (probably) don't know... !

I used to be smart. I skipped 8th grade. And would have graduated high school with honors if I had not discovered the art of cutting class. :cool2:

OOoooooooo, Monica 1 more post and you will hit 2000 here.

Yes, Roger, I noticed the 2000 mark and was saving something special for it.

A little video from Christmas morning. This should be titled "What NOT to do when you have a skull fracture!" I was so afraid he was going to hurt himself. He did have to rest for an hour before being able to play though.

To set it up, DS got a few Wii games and a note from Santa stating that his elves could not find any more Wii systems out there, so Santa would have to owe one to DS. I had been telling him for months how hard it was to find a Wii, so he wasn't too disappointed. So after all the other presents were opened, I sent DS into his room to put his games away. Lo and behold, there's a Wii connected to his TV with a note from Santa saying "Gotcha".

Not sure if DS really still believes in Santa or not. I think he really wants to, but is questioning it due to things he sees on TV and movies. I saw a thread on the Community board and many people were bashing the fact that a 12 yr old still believed in Santa. To me, kids grow up so fast these days, let them have a little fantasy as long as it will last.

Pardon the messy room. That is one of the things I have chosen not to fight with DS about.

Monica...

.. I've had almost EXACTLY what you've got. Cough - junk clogging my throat but no runny nose... wierd... and 2 days ago I nearly lost my voice - voice was harsh for 4 days - been coughing for maybe 5-6 days. I stayed in bed all day yesterday and today. alost felt like I had a fever - low one - but it was never measured or documented. Now I've gone through the latter half of a box of kleenex and countless bottles of water. I've got these aches all over and I walk around KNOWING I'm not well... but if I had to I could go out and be mostly functional.

I tried something different this time by staying at rest the last two days. I was thinking maybe I'm getting sick and can lick it by resting and drinking tons of water while clearing my throat of all the junk. I was just having a lite cough that was getting slowly worse. Well... it's been a bugger to kick and only this evening did I begin to think I ... MIGHT .... be getting better.

And as for the Police thing. THAT IS JUST UNFAIR! I have gone to court and won once and lost the rest of the time. If you're on the fringe of the county and the court is closer to where you live then ask the officer to note that you wish to appear at the county seat. That will force the court of the county to process the citation. That takes it out of the local court and when you elect to fight it - maybe the officer will live out where the citation was written and you'll DRAG him/her across the county to contest you in court. If he/she does not appear then you win automatically. I did this once in Malibu by dragging him into downtown LA. He did not show. The other times he did show and I lost. If the officer appears you can ask to explain the case - he reasonable then ask for traffic school.

You have to WANT to waste the time in court to try this tactic. Some departments will allow thier officers to drive all the way into the county seat to contest citations. Some may not. Some say the officers get time and a half and easy work to contest citations... but then again ... they have to have the time to get in there too. As do you. it's really not worth contesting unless you have a real beef in general I think. When I was younger I had too many tickets and HAD to try and contest a few. And as a student I had the time to contest them all. I almost LOST my licenese on account of all the tickets. My insurance rates were sky high... but I NEVER hit anyone in my car.

And if I may say so - like you I was too smart for my own good too. I did not skip any grades but was always in those gifted programs and classes. I wish I had firmer guidance when I was younger. I needed it. I guess I wasn't really all that smart after all, eh? Now, my spouse, shes' a smart one and always got better grade in college then I (in most classes). She was even on the math-a-letes team and was the one despised by so many in organic chem and higher order math... she had the high "A" and messed up the curve - leaving everyone else in the "B" range or less with a quarter or less of her scores. Yup... our kids get their "brains" from her - definately.

At any rate, if I come across a suitable candidate for introduction to ya I'll PM ya! At present I know of a couple guys but my spouse would probably not encourage me ta pass 'em forward. Maybe she'd agree to pass them BACKwards.... and you're definately in the group who gets the pass forward referrals. ;)

Well now... now THAT is one HAPPY boy. And Monica, I could not agree with you more that it's OK to let kids be kids. My spouse and I agree competely that kids seem to grow up WAY TOO FAST and they risk missing out on some of the cherished childhood experiences we might have encountered in our youth. SO we encourage the same thing in our home! And never you mind about the messy room... we actually have a similar condition in our home... similar.... not quite the same.

<wink>

Not sure how the vintage pictures came up. I think it might have been in chat, which I missed due to a football game. Which by the way, DS did better than I did. With this cold/sinus thing I'm fighting I was miserable. It was in the low 40's (VERY cold to this Californian) and sprinkled most of the 2nd half. I was in bed most of the next day. DS was taking care of me instead of the other way around.

Oh, and I have no idea why they made me wait until the last minute to know if there was room for me. There were only 8 kids that went, one coach, and 2 adults from the Sports and Rec department, plus a friend of one of them. They had rented a bus, not a shuttle van, but a full sized bus. So them saying they weren't sure if they'd have seats for me was just crazy. And I think they had to reserve a minimum of 25 tickets for the group rate. We had a grand total of 13 people, so why give me a hard time? :confused3

Anyway......vintage pictures.....here are 2 that I have on display in my house. All the other kids wanted them, but me being the baby all I had to do was say.....Daaadddyyy....can I have the pictures?

My dad's army pic. I also have his war medals too. A Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was awarded a Good Conduct medal too but lost it somewhere. We tease him that he didn't really have one. There's no way anyone would even mistake him for having good conduct. :rotfl:

My parents wedding.
100_1926.jpg

By the way, that picture of my parents was taken 59 years ago. They just celebrated their anniversay on Nov 28. I wanted them to be able to celebrate their 60th on the cruise next year. But since it coincides with a family reunion that falls to us to host this time around, they will most likely cancel on the cruise. I'm holding out hope that they will change thier minds though, so I'm holding onto their cabin for now.

Took dd to the mall yesterday to get her ears peirced at Clare's.
.

We (DSis, DNiece and myself) took my DD (11) to get her ears pierced at the beginning of December. She was really brave as well. She's counting down the days til she can change her studs and cann't wait to get to DTD in August to try and buy some Stitch earrings.

Tom, hope you get to feeling better too! It would be a shame to miss out on your relatives visit.:flower3:

I wuz just wanderin' backwards ta see what i missed while I napped this afternon - and I saw this.

Paula, I am still feeling wounded after midnite - but it is possibly the best I've felt in 4 days. Theplans for tomorrow took a turn for the better,... the cousins are dropping Knotts and planning on just hangin' out with us by the hotel - a nice Doubletree in Costa Mesa we got for the rediculous price of $49 a nite (Trip advisor places this at $140) so I got it for 65% off. Well... that's before addingin the extra $7 in price line fees above the room tax. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUser...County_Airport-Santa_Ana_California.html#TOPC
At any rate tomorrow seems like aslow and relaxing day - maybe one I can use to rest and recover further with. And if I'm lucky I'll feel up to doing DL on the 1st and / or the 2nd. And it seems I'll have free wifi service in the lobby - if I'm feelin' up to hanging out in thier lobby in my pajamas that is... ok... it'll be PJs and bunny slippers. ..... NOT!

Gota get some decent rest now ... adios!

Cool pictures Monica.

As I mentioned earlier... these kind of family photos are priceless!

I wish I had more of my family (and myself as a kid)

And did ya notice Monica? If ya gain 57 postings on Todd you'l break into the top ten contributors for the thread!

Did ya know that with this posting you have 16 entries on the thread? That places you at 136th from the top and 177 from the bottom. And if you were at 51 postings (35 more) you would be precisely at the 100th spot on the individual tallies? AND with only 10 more postings you'd be at the 115th spot? Not that this really matters or anything...

Off to the gym this am Had three good days on my diet and blew it over the weekend. Right back on the wagon this morning.

Looking for Sapphire earrings & pendant on our cruise in Feb at St Thomas, someone posted the other day about Dazzles Diamonds and raved about their good deal. Anybody ever hear about them?

Okay, so we're both up really late but at least I can finally say I'm caught up with all the happenings in the last 10 days. Boy, this group posts alot - not sure I'm going to be able to keep up but I'll try.

Thanks for the interesting tally count - wonder how long it'll be before I reach a 100. :lmao:

I'm off to bed now - have lots to post about but it'll have to wait til later this morning. Have fun in DL - cann't wait til August - this living so far away sucks some days. Already dreaming of the MSEP in DCA.

Loved the video clip Monica, that was priceless!!! Don't worry about the room, that looks like Angelina's room. We have also learned to pick our battles with our ST, and her bedroom is NOT on that list...........

Before I start getting ready for work.......:guilty: I'd like to say:

"Happy New Year Everyone!!!"

< wink >

Okay, so we're both up really late but at least I can finally say I'm caught up with all the happenings in the last 10 days. Boy, this group posts alot - not sure I'm going to be able to keep up but I'll try.

Thanks for the interesting tally count - wonder how long it'll be before I reach a 100. :lmao:

I'm off to bed now - have lots to post about but it'll have to wait til later this morning. Have fun in DL - cann't wait til August - this living so far away sucks some days. Already dreaming of the MSEP in DCA.

Would you believe me if I said I'm ready for a CHANGE in scenery? I would love to wake up to a white Christmas - and actual CHANGE in the seasons. Canada sounds really interesting to me - as does just about anywhere else in the world. I've lived my entire life around LA and Ventura county and I think about trying other parts of the country and world all the time. HOWEVER, we have kids who sort of anchor us to where we are for now. So this day dreaming will remain that... day dreams... to be fuifilled only briefly with vacation travels from time to time.

OK... I woke up to get some water and tend to other minor tasks. Now it's time to go back to sleep.

And in homage to Littlekid58... out here in our neck of the woods it is presently 54.2 degrees wising to a chilly 68 with high winds. Then in the evening it will drop to 47 for New Years eve. Tuesday should be nice at 74 for a peak ... so the ROSE PARADE should look nice on TV... then it might rain on Thursday.

OK... time to hit the hay.... :cloud9:
