Here's an interesting bit of trivia I found on the REAL 18th century pirate codes of conduct ...

A Pirate's code of conduct​

Contrary to popular images of pirates, life aboard ship was often a model of discipline and democracy. The following code of conduct was taken from one 18th century pirate ship and offers interesting insight into pirate affairs.


1. Every man shall obey civil Command; the Captain shall have one full share and a half in all Prizes; the Master, Carpenter, Boatswain and Gunner shall have one Share and quarter.

2. If any man shall offer to run away, or keep any Secret from the Company, he shall be marroon'd with one Bottle of Powder, one Bottle of Water, one small Arm and shot.

3. If any Many shall steel any Thing in the Company, or game, to the Value of a Piece of Eight, he shall be marroon'd or shot.

4. If at any Time we should meet another Marrooner (that is Pyrate) that Man that shall sign his Articles without the Consent of our Company, shall suffer such Punishment as the Captain and Company shall think fit.

5. That Man that shall strike another whilst these Articles are in force, shall receive Mose's Law (that is 40 stripes lacking one) on the bare Back.

6. That Man that shall snap his Arms, or smoak Tobacco in the Hold, without a cap to his Pipe, or carry a Candle lighted without a Lanthorn, shall suffer the same Punishment as in the former Article.

7. That Man that shall not keep his Arms clean, fit for an Engagement, or neglect his Business, shall be cut off from his Share, and suffer such other Punishment as the Captain and the Company shall think fit.

8. If any Man shall lose a Joint in time of an Engagement he shall have 400 pieces of Eight; if a limb 800. (refer to illustration at top)

9. If at any time you meet with a prudent Woman, that Man that offers to meddle with her, without her Consent, shall suffer present Death.

My apologies in advance for not reading the "Gazillion Pages" on this thread. If I am posting "Old News" then please feel free to flame me.

Seriously, We will have a party of 4, DW(RRBB), DS2, DTBD(Child due in May) registered for a GTY Cat5.

I called Member Services and asked them a few questions...

Q1: Any idea how much the special DVC Rate is for a Cat 5 GTY Room?

A1: We haven't been told and have no idea. DVC has not decided how many points the rooms will be, or how much the Dollar cost will be. In order to get the special DVC rate, at least one person needs to be travelling on points. We anticipate getting the pricing information sometime this month.

Q2. I read online that prices varied depending on when you made your reservations. Are you going to use the Tiered system as well, and if so, what Tier am I on?

Q3: Are there any comperables so I can at least get an order of magnitude for the pricing.

Q4: Sensing a pattern, I tried a different line of questionining... What exactly does a catagory 5 Gauranteed room mean?

Q5: It sounds like I am flying Stand-by, is that the case?

OK, so I guess we wait for a month.....

not sure if they will change it around from 2005 but then we had - princess at sea tea party in Lumieres, Pirate training, a speaker who used to work for the Panama Canal Authority, special blanket commemorating the cruise, lots of special pins, special tshirts & souvenirs, we all got a book about the panama canal, additional entertainment brought onboard, a big BBQ on deck 9on panama canal day. They were serving us mimosas on deck 10 as we were entering the canal. Plus a bunch of other stuff I cant remember. They did a great job entertaining us.

Ths pins had to be bought and that is when people sleeped in the Atrium...it was a sight to see. I remember getting a blanket had the Panama Canal logo, a lithograph. I think there was something else.. if I remember I will post.

Not all of them are booking this cruise though. We will be able to assess the situation better in a week or so. Man that deck plan is going to be covered in green dots!!!

The deck plan will be great! At least this time I don't think you will have to worry about last minute changes.

i've seen southwest has dings from BWI or Dulles to LAX for around $79-89 one way....

one way back from MCO shouldn't be more than $100 either (but then again it is Labor Day)

I checked pricing for using next years dates this year.

Delta had Non-Stop Flights to LAX & from MCO to BOS $248 Roundtrip with taxes!

Id say that is a deal!
