Wow! DD4 is very restless tonight! I think she is worried about the bookings tomorrow!;)

I'm not sure if anyone is still up but I was wondering.....I emailed DU about a month ago with my request and got a generic email saying they would get back to me. I'm wondering if I should wait for them or call myself first thing in the morning. What do you suggest?

Well I think the vote here would be for you to be proactive :hyper::rotfl:

Sorry, I had thought you were talking about having a phone through Comcast... We thought of getting one of these so my DH could give it to his family in Egypt and we could make the call 'local'. Problem is their Hi=speed internet right now isn't very cheap right now. I had no idea it was against their terms.:confused3

Comcast digital phone service isn't available here yet. Besides, the could barely handle the changeover from Adelphia without screwing up a bunch of stuff!

Yes, depending on the VOIP provider, it may be a violation of the terms to permanenty use the VOIP box outside the US. But as a matter of course, my buddy hasn't had any problems with his son using the box in Germany.

Well I think I'm gonna hit the hay too...the only thing on TV is NYPD Blue and infomercials. I really don't want to hear about how I can buy real estate with no money down :sad2:

If you're talking about transferring your reservation (made by you) then all you need is their transfer form... I have a copy in my emailbox... I think that's how it's done. However, I am not using DU - as I let a TA take over the reservation for me - I turned chicken and gained 5 - now 6 additional cabins so I sent the whole thing to the TA. I went with one weher I could speak to the TA - plus the TA came highly recommended to me. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping I'll get a decent price and not be shocked by a final price near the upper limits I gave her.

AND if you were asking DU to MAKE the reservation for you - I would be pretty uptight not knowing for sure that they were gonna do it for you or not.

Maybe I've misunderstood your intents with DU. Have I?

Well for the Big V you don't need to be an ubergeek. :teacher: Actually, they have some phone units with the VOIP built-in. Just realize a few things...the telephone "jack" that you plug into is on the VOIP box, not the wall. Meaning if you want more than one phone to use the line, then you need a multi-handset cordless phone. Older 2.4GHz phones had some intereference problems but we have a 5.8GHz spread spectrum phone and it works fine. You don't get seamless E911 service with all provides, but most are going that route...but remember the 911 service is tied to the box which is tied to the billing address. So, if you move the box (from say Chicago to Miami) and dial 911, you get a Chicago VOIP 911 operator! And, as in my case, if your Internet goes down, you lose phone service. But they all have an option where you can forward calls automatically if the servers can't reach your VOIP box.

Although it's a violation of their terms, a buddy got a VOIP box and took it to his son who is going to grad school in Germany. So now, when he wants to call his son, he just makes a local phone call! Likewise, his son can call anywhere in the states (plus Canada, Puerto Rico, France, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK) and dad doesn't have to pay anything extra! Their $25/mo plan gives unlimited calling in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, France, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK! By similar token, you can take the VOIP box on vacation and when you plug it into the hotel's broadband connection, family and friends can call you at your home number.

Well now...

... you've really given me a lot to think about. THANK YOU! I am going to give it some consideration. I don't have as many concerns with calling anyone overseas - but I do have a sister in law who hasa family in Thailand - and she might find your comments useful and insightful. I'll copy and paste her a copy if you don't object to the copyright infringement issue. <chuckles>

Thanks again - Jonesing, I might tap you for Qs in the future. I am now indebted to you to the tune of a Mickey Ice cream bar. You can collect on the Magic come 8-17-08... just put it on my tab!

No need to thank ME..... ahem.... <chuckles>

Thanks :) Do you think you can put a hold on the ressie or will the decision have to be made on the spot?

We are planning on doing the cruise for our 5th year annivesary (one day late), and without our son, so looking forward to getting onboard!

Morning everyone from the UK !! :sunny: :sunny:

Today I've been up since 05:30 which is 00:30 in Florida so it's now 10:45 and I'm raring to go.

As I've said previously, I'm leaving work at 12:50 to get home and get on that phone as there's a small matter I need to discuss with DCL today :lmao:

If I get home after 1:00 my life will NOT be worth living.

David

After a very quick 5 hour snooze, it's time to get my day underway!!! The real fun begins for everyone in just about two hours from now, best of luck to everyone, and I hope you get what your heart desires, When You Wish Upon a Star...........

Now, I have to get DD up, fix her breakfast so she can get to school. But I will be able to check in from time to time as she is getting ready, then again once I get back from taking her to school, I will be able to keep tabs on what is going on.

Keeping fingers crossed! The way Comacst is around here and how awful my internet can be, I won;t be signing up for their phone anytime soon.

Caroline, we signed up for the $33.00 each deal with Comcast for the three services in early December. We got in on it for not one year, but two years. We had cable internet and TV with them, just needed to add the phone service. Last weekend was a nightmare with internet service and the phone line. Well, at least we have three cell phones in the house in case of an emergency. Not having the house phone line didn't bother me at first, but when I couldn't get online before when the cable went out, at least I could hook up to my dial up account, I can't do that anymore. Well, at least not for the next 23 months anyhow.

Hi David,

I'm always up early, LOL!!! :lmao:

Actually, this was sleeping in for me, probably because I didn't get to bed until 1am this morning and I was up since a little before 4am yesterday. :rotfl:
