Hi Everyone - Here I go again ... 10 days off the DIS and a marathon of Ketchup this evening! I lost a couple of my multi-quotes, but at least I am current with stuff again. It was just the usual crazyness around here coupled with holiday crazyness. (Cheryl - I promise I will try and call again! I just keep getting busy and thinking about it at 11pm at night.) Today's crazyness was DS8's classroom party - for some reason all the involved parents are in the other 3rd grade classroom, so I was the only one who showed up for our class at the planning meeting a month or so ago! I did manage to recruit 2 other moms to help, but the bulk of the planning fell on me. It went pretty well and I am REALLY glad it is over!
My sick cat is doing better - he is eating and drinking now and just seems happier - however, if I listen to his tummy (yes, weird image!) I can still hear it gurgling in there ... I wonder if feeding him yogurt would help? (It helps me, I assume it is the "good" bacteria - but I have no idea if it would be good for a cat!)
I had quoted something from someone during the discussion about living together and weddings and telling family, etc. When DH and I were in college - had been dating a couple years, but not engaged yet - we both transfered to University of Illinois for our Engineering program. I am a year ahead of him, so I transfered first. UofI has very restricted housing and transfer students are in a lottery to get into the dorms. DH was told about 2 months before classes started in the fall that he lost the lottery and would not have a dorm room. Two roommates and I already had a 3-bedroom apartment rented and we decided to invite him to live with us (sort of a "4's Company" setup

) We gave him the teeny-tiny 3rd bedroom and 2 of us shared the large bedroom - still WAY more room than we had in the dorm. The funny part of all this was that all 3 of us girls' parents were thrilled with the arrangements (particularly our fathers!) DH's Mom was the one that freaked out over it.
Hi Guys,
Just thought I'd share this link with you. The man who set this light display up in front of his home is part of the 10/24/09 cruise thread. I just watched all the videos he took the other night and has now posted them on YouTube. These are quite good and fun to watch. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did..............
DH has been SERIOUSLY looking at doing this! He has priced out what he wants and is talking about doing it next year. I keep meaning to get out and take photos of his display for this year - it's not set to music, but it is very nice.
A woman I used to work with was from India, she joined in the secret santa at work one year and I asked if she celebrated Christmas, and she said she celebrated everything.
She said she especially liked Christmas for the gifts and Ramadan for the feasting but she said she didn't do the fasting bit to go with it.
She did say she was probably more Hindi than anything but she was in for having a bit of every religion in her life.
This sounds like a friend of mine who is from Thailand - he is Budhist - and he "celebrates" all sorts of holidays. He has friends from many faiths, so he will join them for their events. He visits Jewish friends, Hindi friends, Muslim friends and Christian friends for visits to chuches, synagagues, temples, whatever. He loves to learn about their faiths and enjoys all the different holiday foods and experiences.

Like a few others here, I also need to apologize to my Secret Mickey - I am just running behind and haven't sent your gift yet. I'm very sorry and will get it out as soon as I can...

DCL House Party - I just found out today that a very good friend that I met here on the DIS (and happens to live about 15 minutes from me) is going to host one! Yea - I get to go
I am going to try really hard to get to chat for at least a little while tomorrow night - see ya'll there!
