Monica, to tell you the truth I can't believe I did it either, usually I'm not that forward about things, that's one reason why I didn't send in an e-mail to even request to hold a party in the first place. My personality type tends to turn inward when I am in a crowd of people, even with people I know. That's one thing about the boards, I can share my inner most feelings better in the written word. I'm usually pretty good in a one on one situation after I get to know someone, but put me with a group of people and I turn into a wallflower................

You've just described me to a "T" - I don't do well in crowds, I actually shut down and really have to push myself in those situations. Though I think that I will do better on this cruise because "talking" to so many people before hand and getting to know them a bit in between all this fluff will help not only me but others like us, to feel comfortable.

I must apologize in advance to my Secret Mickey - with the snow and ice we've had here I haven't been able to get out to finish my shopping - I'll be heading out this weekend:scared1: to finish it up and the package will be on it's way for arrival just after Christmas.

To anyone else who has to go out to the malls or to any store this weekend, you have my sympathies and may the force be with you.:grouphug:

I'm just stopping in to say hi:yay:
Hope you all are doing well :grouphug:
I'm almost done with shopping:woohoo:

Arlene, Thanks for the brisket recipe:thumbsup2
It sounds really good. I'll let you know how it turns out:upsidedow

Actually I'ld rather have a cookie then a piece of cake! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Um...Are we going to make Steph walk the plank?

Last week was the MRI and they didn't do a good job with the contrast and really pin cushioned him.

Poor Rich... I hate when they give you an amature... I have to have more labs done next month (5 tubes baby) but i only go to the males in the lab because they know what they're doing... The women in that lab...Let's just say they need a new line of work.

To anyone else who has to go out to the malls or to any store this weekend, you have my sympathies and may the force be with you.:grouphug:

Got that all sewn up...No $$ means no mall, no shopping.

Hi Everyone - Here I go again ... 10 days off the DIS and a marathon of Ketchup this evening! I lost a couple of my multi-quotes, but at least I am current with stuff again. It was just the usual crazyness around here coupled with holiday crazyness. (Cheryl - I promise I will try and call again! I just keep getting busy and thinking about it at 11pm at night.) Today's crazyness was DS8's classroom party - for some reason all the involved parents are in the other 3rd grade classroom, so I was the only one who showed up for our class at the planning meeting a month or so ago! I did manage to recruit 2 other moms to help, but the bulk of the planning fell on me. It went pretty well and I am REALLY glad it is over!

My sick cat is doing better - he is eating and drinking now and just seems happier - however, if I listen to his tummy (yes, weird image!) I can still hear it gurgling in there ... I wonder if feeding him yogurt would help? (It helps me, I assume it is the "good" bacteria - but I have no idea if it would be good for a cat!)

I had quoted something from someone during the discussion about living together and weddings and telling family, etc. When DH and I were in college - had been dating a couple years, but not engaged yet - we both transfered to University of Illinois for our Engineering program. I am a year ahead of him, so I transfered first. UofI has very restricted housing and transfer students are in a lottery to get into the dorms. DH was told about 2 months before classes started in the fall that he lost the lottery and would not have a dorm room. Two roommates and I already had a 3-bedroom apartment rented and we decided to invite him to live with us (sort of a "4's Company" setup :rotfl2: ) We gave him the teeny-tiny 3rd bedroom and 2 of us shared the large bedroom - still WAY more room than we had in the dorm. The funny part of all this was that all 3 of us girls' parents were thrilled with the arrangements (particularly our fathers!) DH's Mom was the one that freaked out over it. :confused3

Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd share this link with you. The man who set this light display up in front of his home is part of the 10/24/09 cruise thread. I just watched all the videos he took the other night and has now posted them on YouTube. These are quite good and fun to watch. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did..............:santa: :santa: :santa:

DH has been SERIOUSLY looking at doing this! He has priced out what he wants and is talking about doing it next year. I keep meaning to get out and take photos of his display for this year - it's not set to music, but it is very nice.

A woman I used to work with was from India, she joined in the secret santa at work one year and I asked if she celebrated Christmas, and she said she celebrated everything.

She said she especially liked Christmas for the gifts and Ramadan for the feasting but she said she didn't do the fasting bit to go with it.

She did say she was probably more Hindi than anything but she was in for having a bit of every religion in her life. :)

This sounds like a friend of mine who is from Thailand - he is Budhist - and he "celebrates" all sorts of holidays. He has friends from many faiths, so he will join them for their events. He visits Jewish friends, Hindi friends, Muslim friends and Christian friends for visits to chuches, synagagues, temples, whatever. He loves to learn about their faiths and enjoys all the different holiday foods and experiences.
----
Like a few others here, I also need to apologize to my Secret Mickey - I am just running behind and haven't sent your gift yet. I'm very sorry and will get it out as soon as I can...
----
DCL House Party - I just found out today that a very good friend that I met here on the DIS (and happens to live about 15 minutes from me) is going to host one! Yea - I get to go :thumbsup2

I am going to try really hard to get to chat for at least a little while tomorrow night - see ya'll there!

Andy, you were a sweetheart to talk to at the meet and I didn't find you shy at all. Probably since you pretty much knew most of us from the board. Hope you get to go:thumbsup2

Kristina, you are so right about the men doing a better job. But this office goes thru techs like water. I can't figure out if he actually hires them or the hospital just places them there. You would think since they have patients going thru Chemo , they would be proficient. Actually he was really good about it today as he usually will tell them to get someone else that" knows what they are doing," after the 2nd try. There really isn't any excuse for it. I'm sure tomorrow I will start hearing all about it :sad2:

Andrew...

... I think my best solution for getting caught up is simply to buy each season on DVD. That makes for the most enjoyable viewing for me. Alas, right now I'm finishing up on viewing a HEROES DvD set.

Oooo Look.,... it's only 196 more postings til the next sprint concludes. Anyone up fer a friendly little run?

Ahhhhhhhhh thanks Arlene, there were a few times I started to retreat within myself, but all in all, I think I did rather well. Besides, everyone was so easy to talk too. I think it might be that LOVE for Disney that everyone had that made me feel more comfortable and relaxed..............:goodvibes afterall, we were in WDW for heavens sake.............

I came home to a wonderful suprise yesterday. Not only my package from my Secret Mickey :santa: (Roger/GoofyontheHiSeas) but a package from my FIL in TX.

Thank you Roger. :yay: I love the ornaments and they went directly on my tree. I will take a picture and post it (I hope) as soon as I finish getting all my pictures downloaded from WDW last week.

OK this is the only picture I had here at work to try my hand at adding photos. So here it goes. This is my angel tree topper. Last year the office did a presentation on Christmas traditions and I have had this particular tree topper for over 25 years.

Yea, it looks like it worked. :cheer2: It was pretty easy once I get them on Photobucket. How do you do post pictures from the internet?

My SM was sent this week and will hopefully arrive today.

Today is our Winter Solstice party at work. We have a carry in luncheon and a golf "inning". Yes, we play golf indoors. They set up a course running through the office. It is a lot of fun. They usually have one hole that goes on the elevator and up to another floor. We have lost some golf balls down the elevator shaft in the past!
