That does sound cool, Andy -- I love to watch the Christmas Disney show on TV on Christmas morning after we've opened all the presents. We put on the famous "Yule Log" while opening presents -- one TV station here has just a videotape of a crackling fire while playing Christmas carols in the background and as crazy as it sounds, it's just the thing for opening presents! Then by the time we are done with all that the Disney parade comes on.

It's all starting now -- such a magical time of the year and I think the time of the year that NYC shows itself off the best.
We do miss NYC at Christmas time:sad1: Still remember the fun time my DH and I had shopping there years ago. We bought scarves from the street vendors because it was so cold:eek: Weather in NY was defintely nicer this year. Your daughters look beautiful in the Santa pic :thumbsup2 :santa:

We went to see Enchanted on Wednesday eve, and we all enjoyed it. The little chipmunk and Prince are so funny!

Yesterday morning, DD woke up complaining of a sore ear. She had been battling a cold, so my first thought was ear infection. As the morning went on, she said it was getting worse and worse. I was afraid we would have to go to the ER. Well, we called the doctor office, and the answering service paged him. He called back within 10 mins. and agreed to meet us at his office. How nice! Sure enough, she had an infection in both ears! He gave us sample antibiotics for yesterday, so we wouldn't have to get her prescription filled until today. Nice again! He handed me the prescrition and was sending us on our way, when I asked about our copay, and he said "I never charge people on Holidays" SUPER NICE! I explained to DD that not many doctors would even come out on a Holiday, let alone not charge anything! Needless to say, I was very thankful yesterday!
What a great doctor:thumbsup2

Yup, Andy Gump. Don't know why my aunt starting calling me that. My mom said the first time my aunt saw me, she said, "There's my Andy Gump" it stuck, and that's what I had to live with...................
Oh I feel your pain:rolleyes: My Mom gave me a weird nickname and used it in front of my friends when I was in fifth grade:scared1: I was not a happy camper:sad2:

Plus here are a couple pictures from the past 4 days of travel and visits to Boston.

Hi Laurie!

I wish you could have been here for the parade -- it was wonderful. It was cool to see your husband in the parade, too -- although if he doesn't size down a bit before August I don't think he will fit on the ship!

Here's what he looked like just overhead:

I did watch some of the parade on tv, but had to visit with in-laws up in Yorktown Heights and Poughkeepsie:rolleyes:
We lucked out with traffic and made good time getting home today. Major diet re-starts tomorrow;)

Poughkeepsie? You were less than 30 miles from me! We're up in Kingston.

As for diets, I made the mistake and got on the scale today :scared1: - I will be hitting the gym regularly from now on.

Thank you to my Secret Mickey! I got home from work today to find a wonderful package of goodies. I sure wish I had the artistic talent that my SM has. Loved the custom card, umbrella and especially the fresh supply of NUTMEG. :stir:

Todays' the last day? Well... we can only presume congratulations are in order Mike!

And as for things here in Boston... the drivers have been surprisingly nice - in fact - the California drivers have been as testy as the few pointy minded Bostonians I've encountered on the road. So - we did in fact hit BOTH the New England Zoo and the Childrens Museum yesterday. Plus here are a couple pictures from the past 4 days of travel and visits to Boston.

Thanks Paula...

... gotta hit the road after lunch.

Alicia sez 'ello. Shes here at my elbow as I enter this - an' she adds 'ello to everyone else swing by here!

OK... so the pictures above were from tonite. There's this huge light array - and the CROWN structure was accessed for property taxes by the mixed up city here - subject to removal of the structure from the home! Hows that for a "grinch" running the property tax accessment officeout here? Anyways - it was a very nice lite array - just the same!

Alicia just noticed on the news that we've had another destructive fire in near by Malibu. The fire struck on Saturday - it'sonly burned 7,000 acreas but it destroied 49 homes and damaged 27 others. It's a little surprising to me as I believe there are no other major fires mentioned - and they concentrated 15 ( or 23?) fire fighting helicopters AND 15 aircraft on this blaze - plus they had prepositioned fire engines around SoCal supposedly with engines brought in for afar - and still they lost so many homes - many of which were probably fairly expensive. I think theyhad 1700 firemen fighting this with an additional 286 now enroute from Northern California. Oh well... from the photos I've seen - it looks as if the fires blew most of the smoke and ash out to sea. Sad.

So - the news we've seen says the fire appears to have started in a position clear of power lines and near a road. Making the origin of this potentially suspicious. Alicia quipped there were a lot of ultra material rich folks up there and there are people who "don't like rich folks - especially the kind who like to be as showy as the folks in Malibu are thought of as being". To think it could have been deliberate - regardless of who is the victim is disturbing.

The thing about this though that leaves me wary is that we are not too far away - and it could conceivably threaten our neighborhoods too under certain circumstances. The winds must have been pretty bad to have caused so much damage so quickly in spite of so much preparation by the fire fighting authorities in SoCal.
