Hello Everyone!

Finally have a chance to post after a long break.

Returned from WDW. Worked a couple of days. Spent one week in DC for a conference. Worked again. Kid's started school. Now finally have 2 days off.

I'd like to officially thank everyone who came to our mini-meet in WDW. We had a great time.

Just want everyone to know that we will be sailing with a wonderful group of people.

Jack's daughter is doing well. She's home from school this week.:)

David!

I know I know, USA lost to England and Tonga. Can we beat Samoa? I doubt it. NZ and SA are doing well as well as England. I saw one Welsh game which they won.

Say hi to Helen for me and give our regards to you children.

Paula!

Thanks again for the package. The kids just love their Louieville Slugger bats. Say hi to Alan and Adam for us.:)

After Tom31b's suggestion we contacted our TA and we have been moved to main dining:banana:   Add us to that list!!

To celebrate I'm making my first attempt at posting a picture. As DH has the laptop with all the photos, this is one that Lauren has on her PC. It's of me & Lauren at the wedding we went to in the summer.
IMG_4735.jpg

Fingers (& other things I didn't know were possible to cross)crossed that this has worked & I haven't just posted a web link.

It would have been more useful if I'd used the correct link...that one is Lauren & Hermione at the JFK arboretum!!!

Let's try this one!!!

Hi,
we are booked on the cruise, but I haven't posted in many months, let alone tried to stay caught up on the thread. We had a really busy summer and it was impossible to even try.
I looked on the first post where the updates used to be, but its all gone now. Did I miss the secret knock or password to get back in? LOL

Welcome back. Our man, tom31b has moved all that over to our website. You'll need to contact him for access.

Welcome back friends! You don't have to post something on every page to join the community. We all get pretty busy with the usual things - so it's only natural to wander in and out.
At any rate, it's wonderful to hear from you again!

Just kidding with the cartoon above! <chuckles> I got a little snicker when I found it so I felt like using it anyways.

OK...

... I have what I would consider good news. I've been a bit quiet for themost part about something that happened recently... I was hit in Honolulu while driving my rental car - by a hit and run driver who evaded police that were maybe 40 yards behind him. The concerns we had were what it would cost us in #1) increased annual insurance rate cost, #2) deductible, and #3) the charge for time while the rental car was out of service.

Well most of the result are in - and that which is not confirmed seems to be almost certain now. And the short story is... the damage to the car is only $1,866.80.... not the $4000-5000 I was expecting. And the state of Hawaii (and most states according to the Dollar rent-a-car adjuster) forbids rental car companies from charging us for the days a car is out of service. So ZERO cost there. And as for the deductible - it is as we expected. And with the total damages so low - less my deductible - the presumption is my insurance company should NOT increase my annual insurance rates. And if they do = it should be minimal. And I'll complain loudly if they do.

So I am really pleased to have contained the costs so well. AND - now if only I had used a "GOOD" charge card then I might have had my deductible covered as well. You see... I just found out my "Platinum" debit card was good for .... nothing! It has high charging and cash advance limits - but NO benefits. My lowly silver Discover card would have covered the deductible asI understand it. RATS! My Platinum card is a JOKE when it comes to special features (none).

Anyways... I've got Mr. & Mrs. Smith playing on HBO cable now and the wife just crashed into the husband's car from the side. That was just like how I was hit in Hawaii... only different car types were involved. How curious....

OK... I gotta go now.

<edited in> I just got off the line from my Insurance company adjustor - and he said IF they reach the other driver or owner of the other car - and can confirm he has insurance then I won't have to pay my deductible! And even if the other driver or owner responds that they have no insurance then they will not charge me the deductible because I was a victim (this make any sense?). In cases where I am the victim they sometimes waive the deductible without any other consideration! AND ... he says that this sounds like a non-chargable incident which should result in no change to my insurance rates - especially with no other acccidents, moving violations or claims in my history! So... I can only think this sounds too good to be true - to have no deductible to have to pay... potentially. But if it is so - then I won't complain. I certainly spend enough on my property and casualty insurance
!

OK...

... a little more news - and possibily news you can use to your benefit someday.

carsfreeway1.jpg

I just had a chat with an "old neighbor" and shes' been an insurance company adjustor in her past. As such, she suggested that i my situation with the rental car accident - the claim should become a claim using my uninsured insurance motorist provision - and THAT has NO DEDUCTIBLE. Ahhhh.... now I understand how I will escape paing a deductible. AND = as a victim given the circumstances I should not see my insurance rates increase.

Now I am beginning to feel a little more secure about escaping the deductible and rate increase threat.

So now... anyone who has ever wondered about whether they should buy the rental car Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) can now benefit from my experience if they did not already know all the "ins and outs" of the processes.

OK...

... seein' as tomorrow is some kind of Jewish holiday - and our local elementary school is closed for a day - we're going to head on out to Disneyland tonight! Plus we'll spend the nite at a hotel in Anaheim and hit the park again early tomorrow. Maybe try and catch Nemo.

I was about to use HOTWIRE at $89 including taxes + fees for a 3 star which we speculated was the Holiday Inn "prototype" Resort. However, I thought we'd try PRICELINE. SO I linked to priceline through Upromise - so I could get my 1% rebate - and I tried offerring a price of $45 because the Holiday Inn site started at $99 PLUS taxes. AND I GOT IT! It turned out as the Holiday Inn we predicted. ... So, inclusive of the priceline fees and routine taxes we were charged $57 for tonite ! I figure we saved about thirty bucks versus Hotwire and about fifty compared to booking directly with Holiday Inn. Plus we got another $0.45 through Upromise.... which works out to just under a quarter per child. Adjusting for anticipated yields at 12% including dividends ... in 15 years the $0.22.5 should grow to $1.76 per child for thier education. Unless they let it ride another 5 years til graduate or post grad school where it might grow to $3.52 each... enough for perhaps a can of coke for one of those late nite cram sessions before an exam!

I gotta pick up the other daughter now and drive on out to Anaheim!

TTFN!

And - by the way - I have 2 spare tickets now out of 22 for Sunday at the Hollywood Bowl. It's the final performance of the season - with Pink Martini and a fireworks show to wrap it all up. If anyone in Socal is interested in joining us - just PM me. I'll possibly find another party to take them - but if ya want 'em - let me know ASAP. I had 7 spare tix 4 days ago and placed 5 of em.

Thanks for the welcome back!
Thanks for the website info too.
I know this fabulous trip will be here before we know it and we can't wait. Now that the kids are back in school, I have a little bit more time to think & plan! YAY

Hey Paula!

I just noticed your new siggy pictures. Silly me - I get into a rut and I just skim the written portions of everyones' postings qand had not noticed the sigy differences. Well... I sort of noticed but didn't really LOOK at the siggy photos.

You pix are "sweet" - and those two fish look HUGE! What kind of fish were they? I'm not an angler - but my brothers' father-in-law is a big angler. He comes ou from Chicago to go on the day long (or 3/4 day) boats into Mexico for Ahi and whatever else thier skipper can find 'em. I, on the other hand have never caught a live fish on a line ever.

At any rate - the pix look very nice. You can feel the romance glowing in the left hand photo! And you can see the proud fisherman beaming at his "catches" on the right!

Hi Tom, Those are ONOs (wahoo) that Adam caught during our deep sea fishing on the Big Island. He was so proud of those! I think one was 37 lbs and the other about 35 lbs. :goodvibes

Ahhhh.....

.. Ono eh? I have good friends from High School who have a last name of "Ono". And I used to think that "Ono" in Japanese translated into "good". Now I tell them it also is translated into "Wahoo" in some circles!

OK... gotta run now - my spouse just stepped through the door and we're trying to beat some traffic on our way to Anaheim and Disneyland tonight!
