Two days in the hospital, pins and wires thru 3 separate bones, and one huge cast. Surgery went very well. All bones are now properly aligned. Next evaluation on Monday. Thanks for asking. Jack
Actually it does help in some ways, it reduced our Shutters bill, as all our snaps were ruined.
All the talk about parents who don't volunteer caused me to start thinking about how HARD it is to get involved in our school. I think that maybe all the PTO, room moms, etc are a single clique or something. Since DS started 1st grade (he is starting 3rd now) I have been offering to help. I have verbally told people who I know are involved that I "would be happy to help - just let me know what you need." I have also signed up on lists to volunteer for stuff. The 1st year, it did no good at all - it seemed like no one even wanted to acknowledge my interest! Last year, I managed to help with a couple classroom parties and a tiny bit with the big annual fundraiser. I really think it has to do with my being a working mom - I do work full time, but since I work for my father in the family business I can be pretty flexible! I think the non-working moms all go out for coffee in the morning after dropping the kids off and know each other and just organize it all among themselves. It's just weird because I know for the other organizations I am involved with that we ALWAYS need volunteers and would jump at any offers of help!

I couldn't find a tooting my own horn smilie, but I wanted you all to know that I got a semi-firm offer from the firm I've been interviewing with. I have to pass one last interview, but we're already talking terms and how to handle the transitions to make it all work
THANK YOU all for the good thoughts & positive energy you sent my way - I'm sure it helped.
Maybe I'll try to get y'all to come out to the Dicken's Christmas Fair - DH, DD & I all perform there.
Way to go. I don't even think about volunteering at school or PTA -- they are not at all welcoming to Dads trying to help out.
Stace, I hope you are comfortably recouperating.and good wishes for you

Hey Paula, love the new siggy pics.
Although they may not be new. I haven't been that observant lately.
Paula, I love the new photo's in your siggie!
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes for my mom. She is doing better. The wheezing is almost gone, although she is still having some difficulty breathing. She's not as pale anymore and she's got her appetite back. But she's still in the hospital and they haven't even discussed her going home. That's fine though, she's still really exhausted and just needs her rest.
