Laura - will your familybe visiting the Museo Del Prado? This was one place I enjoied visiting the last time I was there. And be sure to let us know what you think of authentic Spanish Tapas dining. Oh how I wish I were there in Barcelona with you guys! Such adventure!!!

Have a blast!!!.... but remember to stay safe! Of all the cities I visited when I went alone to Europe - the Spanish cities were places where I was a told to be a little defensive. Low intensity crime was rumored to persist. HAH I used to think! I'm from Los Angeles and have been SHOT at - burgled and felt I could hold my own in general in any "regular" city on the planet.

Oh well....

Have a blast as I'm sure you're gonna... !!!

Time for me to carry the kids off to bed now...

Tom at the rate everyone is still sleeping, I may only get to pass by the sights. But if I don't catch it this time, I will be catching upon my return trip for the repo. I hope to make it to the Sagrada Famlia church and maybe some other spots but we shall see. Right now I am planning on hitting Monserrat with my friends on the return flight but I mentioned the Segway tours to the girls and they seem up for it - now to find the link to get 24 hr reservatios.s Oh well, the life of a wandering pirate: never ends.

Talk to you all later.

I have been enjoying your blog Laura, incase you didn't know, my user name for the blog site is dclvm...........;)

Everyone seems to be going WDW. :sad1: :sad1: Wish I could go. Not only going to the movie theater but going without kids !:) popcorn::

Come on Tina you can talk Chuck into it. Just use that female charm:love: . Works for Cheryl all the time.:rolleyes1

Morning:goodvibes
Trying to get DH to live up to his threat of waking me up early to go to the gym. Unfortunately I think the shots he got in Feb are starting to wear off:sad1:
Just sent another email to DCL regarding the Castaway Club #. I got the new cards a few months(?) ago and DH wasn't included. Of course they sent the 2nd one to our son. Like Cheryl, we are still waiting for it. I got an email from them last week but the CC# they sent me is different from the NEW card they sent. But it allows me in. I asked them if this is going to be a problem in May when I try to secure some reservations. Also asked if they were aware of how many of us were to be accessing the web at the same time?
The only other cruises I can think of with such a large amount of repeaters would be the DVC and wasn't there a NJ cruise? Wonder how they fared?

Laura great to hear you got there ok.We will all be experiencing it through all the great blogs and reports.

No, no stress in my life

There are several low cost travel agencies advertising in Art Frommers' Budget Travel magazine - and this one (which shall remain unmentioned publiclyout of consideration for our sponser, DU) has an advertised $599 rate for air + 6 nites hotel in Paris. This rate assumes double occupancy, and mid week travel on certain low intensity dates. It also excludes taxes, transfers, meals, insurance, and gateways other than NYC.

SO adjusting for a CHicago, IL departure, adding taxes, and traveling on Mondays - November 19th 2007 for example results in a $1,536 total. That's not too bad - except the one star tourist grade hotels are (IMO) very scary and cheap. Transfers by train from CDG to Paris are easy if ya don't mind hauling your luggage to the train platform outside to an area comparable to a taxi stop at a US airport. I don't know what it costs off hand but with the weak dollar I would not be surprised if it cost $35 pp... and that would be less than a taxi or shuttle bus.

Meals can be pretty cheap if you can refrain from dining in joints with Michelin Star ratings. In fact I remember we would dine at one star places that were "cheap" for under $35pp.... and in the Latin Quarter for less than $10 pp.

Entertainment and museums are interesting and varied. Half pride ticket booths for theater events are reasonable - and the walking and browsing is free. One thing I always enjoied was riding their Metro around. AND ... the last time we were there my SIL was accosted by a clutch of teens who burgled - or mugged without being physically injured. They just went over and sort of cornered her in the Metro and rifled through her purse openly and ran off with her wallet. Brazen really. I was not there but at the hotel as I tend to watch folks in our party closely - and the folks with my SIL were all looking at a Metro map when this happened.

SO - adventure awaits you for your visit to Paris some day! If ya wanna know which TA this is I'm quoting - PM me or pick up a copy of Budget Travel and flip through. Only a few are as cheap as this!

Thanks for the tip, Tom.

For those who did not know (can't remember if I posted it or just through PMs --old age setting in this morning), Europe is the reason we canceled the cruise. SWMBO came back from Paris talking about how much she wanted to take the kids over and we had a family meeting and the kids were much more interested in England and France then cruising again. So we are off plotting a tour of the UK, followed by a day in Paris, and of course, a stop to see our Pal Mickey at DL Paris.

Now it's time to balance the checkbooks, yes mine and my mother's............:sad2: I might need a good stiff drink before I am finished..............:lmao:

Sounds like an awesome trip, best of luck with your planning!!! :thumbsup2

to some fence issues because of the new neighbors replacing the fence but leaving a huge gap underneath the majority of the fence and then they graded their land higher than ours to meet that gap then they put dirt there with rocks over it- that's what we see under the gap now and we'll probably end up in court over this because it's illegal to change your land to make your rain runoff into someone else's yard and that's exactly what they've done- so now we're having flooding issues everytime it rains because now all their runoff runs into our land and causes flooding issues (on our grassy areas, in our pool, up on our ground level patio, almost into the house, etc.) and we're getting quotes on how to try to fix this issue plus now build a retaining wall where the gap is (and then probably go to court to make them pay for the costs), etc. etc.

Do you live in a town with building codes and permits and such? If so, you may be able to get them to do something about it. If the fence and new grading was done with a permit and the town failed to catch the problem, they may be required to help fix it. If it was done without a permit and SHOULD have had one, then the town can force them to either remove it all (at their expense) or to fix your problems. You are absolutely right that there are laws most places that you cannot change the lay of the land and send water onto someone else's property.

Good luck with everything! pixiedust: pixiedust:

Hello everyone!

After a hiatus in posting I'd like to update everyone on the 2 minimeet functions this August:

DIS goes to Yankee Stadium

All plans are "Go" for the DIS mini meet at Yankee Stadium this coming Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 1 pm. Our group will be getting to the Stadium early @11-11:30 to see Monument Park, This might be the last chance we can see it. The new Stadium is scheduled to open for Spring 2009. If anyone wants to join us let me know. We can meet inside the Stadium.

DIS mini-meet at WDW's Wilderness Lodge

It's full steam ahead for the DIS mini-meet at Walt Disney World's Wilderness Lodge on Saturday August 25, 2008, come on come all. We will be having our get together at the Wilderness Lodge Villas, pool side starting at 1 pm till ? We will have food and drinks set up. If anyone wants to bring any additional food or drinks please feel free. Kids bring your bathing suites. There are showers and locker rooms right off the pool in the Lodge.

Me, Johnna, Jack, Justine and the kids are looking forward to seeing you all again as well as meeting many new friends.

See ya real soonpirate: ,

Peter

Yes Arlene I am the one that started it all. I went back and found that thread recently and could not beleive all of the names that I did not know then that are friends now. These posts are not in order so they may not make any since but are the first utterings of our Repo family.

That is so funny. Wow, we were bonding even then.

Sounds fabulous, although we'll miss you on this voyage.
I'll be in DLP in 18 days. I'll try to pick up some park maps and anything else that might be of assistance.

Well, we are off for some lunch, then going to the movies to see "Hair Spray" someone from the DIS said they really enjoyed it, so here goes.

See y'all later

FYI...

In researching the additional fee I found on the Panama Canal website - http://www.pancanal.com/eng/maritime/tolls.html - the additional toll charge is based on a “per berth” not “per passenger”. The fee is $100 additional for 2007 and $115 for 2008. I have no problem spending $115 per berth for 2008, but $100 per person fee needs to be explained by DCL.

I don't know what you're complaining about Andy, it's not like you're sick or anything. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Keep the faith. You'll be fine - just remember to rest, even as you start to feel better. You'll get better faster in the long run.

JR, I hope you enjoy England & Paris. When I was 12, our family took a grand tour of Europe - almost a month. It was one of the highlights of my life and I'm sure one of the reasons I love travelling so much. I hope your kids enjoy the trip. :cloud9:
