There's really not much you can do once they reach the age, Crash. Just be sure they have a safe car and pray alot. I have to tell you, it IS the hardest thing in the world to see them drive away. :sad1:

I feel so lucky to live in a small town. It makes a huge difference (and in our insurance bill!) but Jordan's boyfriend lives in central Scottsdale, so it's quite a drive for her to go down there. Makes me nervous and crazy every time she goes there.

NOW you know why I'm a blabbering idiot! It's my kids!:rolleyes1

We've been planning on giving DS12 one of our cars when he is old enough to drive - problem is I currently drive a 300C with the hemi and DH has a Durango with a hemi and there is no way that DS is getting either one of them. So when the lease is up on my car I'll probably get either an Avenger or a smaller SUV and when DS gets his license he will inherit that and then I'll get another car - leaning toward a two-seater...won't need to have a backseat anymore!:rotfl2:

Lorri I can't wait to go back to a 2 seater! That was one of the 1st things to go 19 years ago--just aren't very baby friendly:cool1:

Here is a picture of Mark's dream car. We had one for a weekend.

You would have had to PRY me out of the seat.

I didn't talk to my Dad for about a month after he sold the Corvette.

Just like this, only not this color

Jay says he wants us (who's US...it'll be MINE) to have one before we're so old that we look like all the other old people around here in their hot cars. LOL

I really like those Stace! It will be a blast to drive:goodvibes (to bad Jay didn't remember Jared was still at home until after it was purchased:rotfl2:

So here is my favorite car at the moment. I would prefer it to be black with a red interior.
But this will do.

He wished it was a bright color, but no a nice sedate shade of blue. I sternly warned him when he got his license that any tickets or accidents his fault before he turned 18 and his license was being turned into the state. It was bad enough (and still is more than 2x) paying for his insurance without loosing all the discounts on it. (I still have full coverage on that car) And he knew I was serious about it. There are some things that he knows he has some tolerance about, but he does know when I am serious. I wondered what you did to get your nickname! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You STILL don't know the ... juicy details. <chuckles>

OK... my spouse is stuck in traffic so I'm gonna have to hustle to get the kids to the AYSO practice and I'll conduct it until she shows up. Shes' late cuz Sigh.... I DO Love the girl - but shot - I gotta scramble to cover more then I care to sometimes. I really could use a break today. I had several huge time out incidents with the kids running amok or tormenting one another. It's been a 6 ring circus here at times. Even the dog has been looking at me with those sad eyes.

OK - I gotta prepare the kids for AYSO - and run to Kinkos to make copies for the parents to sign... and after Soccor practice then we have a family dinner to attend all the way in LA. It's gonna take me an hour plus to get down there... so it's probably gonna be a no show for me in chat tonight. etc. etc. etc. Well... maybe I'll go take a peak and see if anyone is there now...

TTFN!

Way to burst my bubble, Enna...

My mom drove a station wagon when she was my age. Followed by a minivan.

Sorry! I can remember being a little thing in a carseat in the back seat of my mom's Mustang. My current mom-mobile is almost the same color as her car was--probably because I tend to think of it as a calm, safe color. It's so interesting isn't it? I wonder how many other decisions I have made based on early memories.

If it's any consolation, she had that car 'til my brother started High School and it was always very easy to maintain. I hope you get as many years of joy out of your new blue baby! :)

well - since we're talking about dream rides - I'll post what I consider to be an achievable dream rides ... something for a day somewhere down the road...

My weekend "ride"

Here's my "other" weekend ride

Here's another weekend "ride"

And this would be my daily "ride"

See... I'm not too extravegant ... they're all generally available under $70,000... especially the shifter cart. I would buy the Viper used... the chopper I would build myself... the shifter cart would be off the rack new and I'd probably dohalf the maintenance myself. The 350Z would be a cheap car to customize - and would probably be bought used. So, combined this would cost me at perhaps $250,000 in after tax moola to indulge in. And I have no room in my garage or time to toot around in a two seater without the family. Well... I think the chopper could take 4. <chuckles> I don't suppose anyone would spare me a paltry $250Gs til next Christmas on a handshake and wink?

Gotta go now....

If I win, I will glady do that and pay for your cruise too!!!!

Sounds great. I've always wanted an Alpha Romeo Spider or Miata in something approaching British Racing Green. Not gonna happen while we have a little sprout. :guilty:

I used to want a blue Miata.

:woohoo: :woohoo: You would not believe how many tickets we sold today! It was one busy corner, I tell you.:) I really hope it goes out on Saturday.:)

Paula--

I hope one of your customers wins!

Now this would be my dream come true Laura. You know I've always been very practical when it comes to cars. Really I just look for a good value and a safe mode of transportation. Nothing flashy here I'm afraid. I guess I've just never felt the need to be defined by my vehicle.

But, if I could have any car I wanted and throw practical, frugal and family friendly considerations out the window, that would be the car I would choose!!!
