Hi Everyone,

We just got back from our WDW trip this afternoon. Boy, do I have a lot of ketchup in front of me. I showed Zack all of his birthday wishes, and he was really excited. Thanks to all. Here's a picture of the kids with Goofy from Zack's birthday dinner at Chef Mickey's
.

Please accept this late token BD wish from us...

... and please disregard the "4" if Zack is not turning 4!

Happy Birthday Zack!!!....

By any chance - did you get a CUTE puppy for your birthday???

Hi everyone,
Sorry I have not posted on this thread for awhile. Other trips take me to other threads, but then I always find my way back here. :)

Thank you Tom for the great newsletter and your work. Thanks so much!
And also, I was so close to cancelling this cruise after they added on that stupid extra tax. With 6 in my family, that is 600 bucks! It was just about enough to break this camel's back, not like the trip was almost too expensive enough for us as it was! I was disappointed, my kids were disappointed.

But then I saw in the email that it was reversed thanks to all of you, (I was about to call DCL and complain myself) and I was ecstatic. I went to DCL site to look up my reservation, and sure enough it was back to where it was. It probably saved the trip for us. So thank you everyone!!! :woohoo: :thumbsup2

My DD is 11 today, and will have her 12th birthday while we are on the TOAL. So it will be a special kick off for us. We will be in Disneyland a few days before the cruise too. I (we) have never been to DL in the summer after my numerous trips there, so I am a little nervous, but glad to be getting to go at all.
And thanks so much for the 2005 PC pics!! It gets me so happy. I know this year will FLY by!!!! Especially since the money is due in May...LOL

It seems the luggage handlers in the UK have been not doing their jobs either. There was an article the other day telling how the airports are so overwhelmed with lost luggage that they sent over 1000 pcs of luggage by ship to the US. Laura said her familys whole planes luggage didn't make it home :scared1: The insurance Cos said they had more luggage claims than they ever did. Hope they all get there ok.

One airport mainly to blame HEATHROW.

It looks like the ferry/cruise ship indeed is a regional one. Ine wuth a very interesting color scheme. To say it's big is an understatement! And it's big.

The were coming in hourly! So if you missed the Magic I am sure we could have caught up considering most nights the Magic was doing less than 9 knots and once actually stopped in the sea before La Spezia for the whole night.

OK... I'm caught up to page 4734 - and the 71,000 mark... that will have to do for tonite as i checked out some interesting DVDs from the library today that i wanna get to ... here are a few things I multiquoted alnog the way backwards...

We got our letter last night, too. Hurray for Disney.

Tom, are you back from Hawaii yet? Or are you riding out Flossie? Hope you and the family are well.

Sara - thanks for the thoughts - I think I missed multiquoting an acknowledgement to your posting yesterday - thanks fer the kind thoughts.

Poor BIP. As I understand the information flood, because we're calling at a South American country the government will require us to have passports - even though there's some doubt about Mexico & the Carribean. Unless DCL cancels our stop at Cartagena, Colombia we MUST have passports.

You may now resume banging your head against the wall.

That's 'cause :tink:Dreams Rocks

Thanks ladies

Glad to score one for the wenches...Those swabbies are catching up :rolleyes1

Avast SWABBIES... the Wenches are getting militant about the pirate postings again! Tom31 was out numbered by Wenches at 6:30AM the other day - and we gotta get our act together for the next Pirating occassion!

We're waiting for our connecting flight to Paris. Free WiFi in the airport. Thought I'd get caught up for the last time. Probably won't be back for 3 weeks now. Maybe during one of my sea days I might check in. However, I've got several tastings planned for those days, so who knows.....wine tasting, beer tasting, martini tasting, tequila tasting and most importantly RUM tasting.....darn, forgot to get a designated walker for this trp.

How fun Monica! Too bad ya didn't give ME a chance to consider the "designated walker" job - oh yeah - RATS!!! I already HAVE a job as SAHD/taxi driver/indentured cook/and so on.... Have agreat trip just the same - I don;t know if you'll see this but just the same - bon voyage!

Came home today and found an official letter from DCL saying that they will be paying that extra $100 they told us about, so our ship statemments will be showing the new balance shortly.

How sweet! We all saved a bunch with this developement! I think DCL just messed up and our concerted outcries of "FOUL".... SHOOK THEM UP into realizing they couldn't fool us! Someone probably thought they might get away with a fast one here IMO! And we're the only ones who are likely to have stirred a ruckus about this - right?

mban229l.jpg

Letter arrived from DCL they are paying the $100 Panama Canal fee as a good will gesture for all those who booked the Cruise, East & West. All charges will be removed within 10 to 14 days.

Count 'em up friends! We've saved the most active 500 DIS folks sailing the PCREPOs a cool $50,000! And I would suspect we do have at least 500 DIS folks on these voyages, eh? That's 500 of these crisp green backs for our little happy community - plus everyone else benefits on our sailings too! If there are 2500 PAx per sailing - then thats' 5000 PAx and $500,000 we collectively saved!!!!

M,try this one on for size. Several years back our accountant did our taxes and sent them off for us. A few days later he called and asked if I had anything to tell him. :confused3 "Are you an escaped con living under an alias?" ;) It seem the Federal Gov't. in their infinate wisdom, gave me a divorce! They decided that I was not married and I had to go back and resign my papers with my maiden name and then had to send copies of my BC amd marriage license to prove who I was. I could understand if this happened the first year after we were married, but we had been together well over 10yrs at this point and had always filed jointly.

IRS.jpg

Funny - when we got married it trigerred an audit. They took a little extra moola from me for innocently checking a wrong box but otherwise they found I was an honest yokle.

Do I sense a Rocky Horror fan in the room? ;)

TA DA! ANOTHER ONE FOR THE WENCHES!!!!! :dance3: :yay: :dance3:

Seriously, congrats Magiroux on another Pirate posting won fair and square!

Hi, Everyone ~

Just like everyone on this board, we're excited about the August 2008 cruise through the PC! This itinerary was announced while we were on another cruise so we put in a paper reservation for it and were lucky enough to get a stateroom for this cruise.

I also talked some friends who had never been on a cruise to join us and they made a reservation online on that crazy morning when reservations started. Anyway, they are pretty sure they can't go now. I know there is a long waitlist for this cruise. Is there any word about how many people are waiting? I was just curious.

Welcome aboard!!!! Please jump in and join the conversations and neighborly interactions! It may seem daunting sometimes - but I think it's worth the effort!

Hi everyone.
I'm posting from laptop in travel trailer.
man this evening went from bad to worse. We need y'all to send us a wee bit of pixie dust please! First we had some "issues" with the travel trailer after it having sit at my sister's property, unused, for so long. Had to get new battery/etc.
then we take off a wee bit late but still with plenty of time to get the travel trailer parked "near" the circus area and get to the circus in time. but alas, it was not to be... traffic was backed up for miles and miles and miles at a complete stop most of the time... just inching along. Finally came upon the wreck right about the time they cleared the vehicles away and meanwhile it took us almost an hour to get less than 5mi on the highway. So needless to say we ended up missing about most of the first half of the circus. :(

We had a good time anyway though- Rita was especially way more thrilled than I expected. I guess the last time we went to a circus she was 3 or 4yrs old maybe (she's 7 now) and boy was she thrilled. Every act was her "favorite". LOL

Then we left- took over 30min just to get out of the parking garage! Lovely.
Get to where we parked the trailer and someone parked in front of us and trapped us in... took awhile to get them to come out of the establishment (we had permission to park it in their parking lot as Jeff knows the owner) and FINALLY got to the RV park at around 1am.
They said we'd be close to the lake and pool- but we're about the furthest away you can be! the furthest pull thru from the pool and lake- and the only thing further is a line of back-in spots. ugh

And then it got worse.. Jeff was hooking up electricity and such and I was unpacking stuff and putting it where it belonged in the travel trailer (kids asleep in the still vehicle) and he hooked up the water and something busted underneath the sink and water just flooded all over the travel trailer.
A) now instead of going scuba diving with a buddy that will be waiting for him- he's going to have to go find a store to find the park that broke and if he can't find it- we're taking this travel trailer home. I'm sorry but we can't have 6 of us going without toilet, shower, water to drink/cook with, etc. until Sunday night! No way!
B) even if he is able to find the part and fix it- we'll stay but his buddy is not going to be able to dive until jeff gets there (late- no telling how long it will take to find the part... and hello that's just one more additional cost to this quickly becoming EXPENSIVE "camping" trip) and also I didn't expect to have to go somewhere and wash anything. I brought no detergent/etc. I brought enough towels and washcloths and beach towels for us all for 2 days.. all the towels were used to soak up the flooded water in here and the floors weren't all that clean. So the towels are dirty... :confused3

My wireless mouse isn't working anymore for some reason, I forgot batteries (among other things -I had a list and checked it a billion times... but somehow still forgot batteries, RUBY'S MEDICINE! YEAH ME HAVING TO DEAL WITH HER WITHOUT HER MEDS FOR 2 DAYS.. UGH, and a few other "won't die without them but sure would be nice to have them" items. Anyway, I hate laptops with the touch scroll/mouse thing. I can't function with it. I need a mouse. LOL

I'll update tomorrow but please send some pixie dust that we find the part for the plumbing QUICKLY in the morning so he can still scuba dive later today and that I can find a place NEARBY to purchase detergent and stuff and wash the towels so we can go ahead and stay till Sunday night.

Oh and the fridge doesn't seem to be working. We thought it was getting cold when we tested everything before we left but now it doesn't seem to be. The a/c works fine (thank you God!) but without a fridge- I have an awful lot of food in coolers with melted ice and no idea how far to buy more ice for 2 days to keep that food cold? come on fridge/freezer- please start working and get cold!

OK, I promised DH I wouldn't obsess about this cruise until at least 1 year before it left. Well, the time has come. :woohoo: Let the obsession begin. I have tried to keep up with the posts, but not always sucessfully. This trip will be in celebration of our 8th anniversary which is August 5, 2008. I am now trying to talk him in to going to CA a few days early to visit Disneyland. I haven't been there in almost 30 years.
Oh he needs to take you a few days early! 30yrs is far too long! :)
Glad it's time for you to join us in the obsession game. :)

Stace I can't say that I have gotten one of those. Has to be aggravating though
Me either. How do you KNOW it's a fake magazine subscription? I wouldn't know if it's real or not- but either way it gets trashed. LOL

It seems the luggage handlers in the UK have been not doing their jobs either. Ohmy, that's horrible!

BIP ...

... it's gonna get better. You wait an' see - and whatever comes your way please try to just settle into making the best of it. And consider - it could be far more complicated. Someone could have been hurt or maybe something less desirable could have come to "visit". So... just make the best of it. Employ some ingenuity to turn something which looks annoying into something which is tolerably less than perfect! The classic half full or half empty glass question!

And here's a load of pixie dust to help a bit more - just in case!

We had a great time, even though it was hotter than hot. Here's wishing all of you going down in the next week or so a magical vacation, and hopefully either cooler weather or better air conditioning! Have fun at the mini-meet. Wish we could have made it, but we'll be there in spirit.

Hey There Mike--I was just thinking about you the other day when I went back to the doc for a check-up. Happy to hear you had a great time, even if it was hotter than you know what, but that's Florida in the summer.

BTW--my doc said it is probably best for me to wait until after I am 60 to get the Shingles vaccine.

This might be a little late, but better late than never:

We (in Europe) are sending the Magic back to you today!-Could we have her back in 2009?

Yes, if it were up to me but I am sorry to say I have NO pull with DCL. I believe there is a large number of folks here that would like to see her stay home for the summer of 09. I guess we will just have to wait and see what will happen. I think there is a real good chance that when the fleet increases one of the ships could be placed over your way. Here's to hoping. Lois

Yes until there are four ships someone is always going to be disappointed, the Captain hinted strongly at Northern Europe, and also said they will return to the Med, DCL made a killing on the seven ports of call and shore excursions so many people took them were as in the Caribbean a lot go it alone to a local beach. They charged a lot more money for the cruise and worked to full capacity, so it must be a good bet they will be back.

With hurricianes in the Carribean now its a good thing the Magic leaves for either Europe or West coast in the summer.
