SO, YAY!

The sk8ingfam and the jonesings had dinner together last night. Amy and HC are awesome! You know the light-up-his-face smile Nathanael has in both of their sig pictures? Well it isn't just for pictures! The kid smiles like that all the time! He is too cute.

We had a great dinner at a place called The Mason Jar and then drove through Garden of the Gods - very cool rock formations and the sun was setting so the light was perfect for pictures.

I'll post pictures later - my camera cable is in the car along with the rest of my life.

Anyway, I'm glad we got to meet!

My oldest daughter and I are off for Live Earth today in Giants Stadium -- should be a lot of fun. Happy Saturday to everyone.

Thought I'd share a joke I found in my email this morning that made me giggle....

Man driving down road.
Woman driving on same road in opposite direction.
They pass each other.
Woman yells out window at man, "PIG!"
Man yells out window back at woman, "WITCH!!" (edited to be made DIS friendly)
Man rounds next curve.
Man crashes into HUGE PIG in middle of road and dies.

Sounds like you had a great time last evening at your mini-meet!!!

I drove through Garden of the Gods back in 1975, then again in 1989, but we did it earlier in the day, I can't imagine how nice it must be there at sunset.

The funny thing is that I've received about 10 emails reminding me not to add to carbon emissions, and not to take a car . . . so we will take the subway to the Port Authority Bus terminal (which I have never, ever been to -- everytime I've passed it it's looked like a place for bums to hang out!) and take an express bus to Giants stadium, and then the reverse on the way back. Also, we were asked to wear something green and I never, ever wear green, so I have been forced to borrow from my 15 year old. Therefore I am going to this concert, by way of the bum's stop at the bus terminal, in a Green day "Kiss me, I'm punk" shirt!

Please - I just want to be wished Happy Birthday by somebody - cause at the rate that I'm going - I'm not getting it from anyone in my family!

I am sooooooo hacked off right now!!! Went to the bank about 3 weeks ago to order a new debit card because my current one is wearing out. Mag stripe doesn't read all the time etc. So the teller orders the card and said it would take 7-10 days.

3 weeks no card.

Stop back by the bank to check on it. Looks like they sent it to the old house in ABQ WTH? Why would they do that when they have the new addy in CO?

So she begins to order a new one. But several pauses/false starts ensue...uh, what's the new address; system won't mail a card to a post office box, how about it come to the branch; why the request for a new card; oh, damaged card okay; uh it's gonna take 7-10 days yada yada yada.

So I head out but figure I'll get some cash for dinner with M & family tonight. Use the ATM and viola:

WE'RE SORRY THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED AT THE ATM​

WTH?!?! So I go back inside and the teller girl is still typing away on her terminal. She finished ordering my card and then checked the system---she flagged my card....the one in my hand, the one used to ID myelf...as a lost card!!!!

Obviously it's not lost since it was in my

hand so she tries to undo it...nope, once flagged in the system, it's permanent!

Not even the bank manager could undo it

But they did have a solution. They issued me an Instant ATM Card. It's only good for getting $60 cash or $50 POS today. Tomorrow the limit goes up to the usual $1000. Okay, not too bad. Until I went to order something just now...I can't because the

thing doesn't have a Visa or MC logo! It's just a plain ATM card, can't use it for buying stuff online!

I called the bank and the banker was all "Oh yeah, I never thought about that. I guess we should try to get some temporary check cards in."

Well I've learned my lesson...if the bank weenie looks all of 15 despite having a nose piercing and doesn't exude full confidence in his/her ability to perform a task, go with a more senior person! I mean, she handled my cash withdrawal without a hitch. But now she's totally dorked up my card access, so much so that the banker who issued the instant card said I'll probably wind up getting two cards in the mail...a lot of good that'll do me since the one in my pocket may as well be an ice scraper.

I have to replace my Check Visa card as the sig strip is totally gone and this is the reason I'm stalling.They did that to us a few years ago when we had trouble with them. This time we will do it one card at a time as we both have a diff # where last time it was the same.

OMG! DS's (who I'm still not speaking with) birthday is today is on his way to Vegas! I already called and wished him a happy birthday - trying to be the maternal mother everyone thinks I'm not - and even asked him to pick up his presents, MIL gave him $100, DD14 got him an LA Dodger's History book and I got him an 80gb video ipod. He didn't bite but now that you mentioned that!

Oh Lordy - he really wouldn't go that far would he? I never even thought about that - he's with his girlfriend of 15 months!

Reminds me of when DD first got married, my DH and DS were at the Motor Vehicle and there was a clerks office across the hall. He went in and asked it there was a way to check the county records. They directed my 15yrold detective to a computer and that's when I got the phone call at work.

No, I don't do Dis green -- sorry! I have read that the buses will be Hybrid and also create less emissions than individual cars would . . . as long as I don't get accosted by too many bums at the bus terminal, I'm fine with going along with this.

Hello Everyone! Well my graduations (2) and 4th of July/Graduations Party are now behind me! TG. I am honestly exhausted to the core of my being. Note to self....do not host a party of a Wednesday when you have to go to work Thurs. and Friday!!!!!!

It was nice chatting last night with you guys. Hopefully I cleared the air about a few things, but I fear I may have confused some of you more.

Suffice is to say, that the concerns of many of us go way beyond the stupid spamming of a few months ago. It's about invasion of privacy, backstabbing, and paranoia. Those who don't know the backstory cannot understand and I appreciate that. But please know, for those of us with strong opinions on the matter of the website security, we have been here from the beginning of the thread (or darn close to it) and if we feel so strongly about it, you guys KNOW US, and therefore, please consider that we must have a darn good reason for feeling as such.

JR you did an excellent job on the website and in record time too!

If opinions are being sought, I believe a person must be an active poster with 50 posts or more to gain access.

I just would like to leave you all with one thought. My DH is not a DISser, although he does participate in DIS events. For months now I have wondered if I want to spend my TOAL looking over my shoulder or trying to avoid certain people or certain groups. Not only don't I want to do that, after spending thousands of dollars on the TOAL, my DH would be furious at me for that. All he says now anyway is "this is suppose to be a vacation right?? Fun right?? And I have to agree.

As I said in chat, I am here on the DIS like a Smurf in the forest...........

23rd...Got it... no problem..

---Feeling a little better this morning. ..I have a dr appt at 3pm. Because of how swollen my throat is..My guess is strep.

OOOH guess what DH and i saw this morning when i drug him out on my walk with me.

~~~~ We witnessed an F-16 Fighter jet come in and intercept a smaller Cessna type plane over our neighborhood. Really cool and you could see the fighter wave his wings and everything.

Why was the fighter there you say? Well we live a little over 10 miles south of Camp David. El Shrubo is up there until tomorrow and they have expanded no fly and road closures. I'm betting other VIP's are up there with him too. He's up there all the time anyway and this time security is tighter. Normally there is just a 3mile no fly. My DH looked it up and this weekend is a 10 mile no fly. The roads closed are usually open too when he's there.
