Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Megan.
11 years ago today I was a very scared woman. I had been hospitalized for 3 1/2 weeks "upside down" to try to get to where Megan would have a chance to live. Even though I was hospitalized that long they did not expect her to be born that day. My OB had told me from the beginning that she did not have a chance at life. I was determined to prove him wrong.
Anyway when we got to L&D a whole team was set up and waiting for her. As soon as she came out everything happened w/ incredible precision. She was 4 months early. Born at 24 weeks she was 1 pound 5 ozs, and 12 inches long (she is still tall and thin :) ).
Since I listened to my el stuoido Dr. I spent the whole day convinced every person who came in the room was going to tell me she died. They moved me to the Presidential Suite (huge and posh) so I would have more privacy.
We had some bumps. At 1 month and way less than 2 pounds her intestines burst. Almost died then too. But, once again her great medical team got her thru that hurdle. We ended up w/ 4 eye surgeries (2 on each eye), 4 or 5 separate intestinal surgeries and heart surgery. Oh yeah, when her intestines burst her heart valve did too.
She not only lived, but became an adorable very stubborn 11 year old. That stubbonness kept her alive and fighting.
Besides a couple of beauty marks (scars) she came out relatively unscathed.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGAN:cake: You truly are a Miracle Child!! Have a great day!!!

Wow!! What a special little girl! And what a strong and loving mom!

Salt tablets??:confused3

I'm on a low sodium diet and the doc said no salt tablets for me.

It's so nice to be home, sitting under the ceiling fan, as the cool air is blowing down on me!!! :thumbsup2

Andy - just keep on drinking the water and stay hydrated. When you get home put something cool and relaxing on and put your feet up on the lounge chair and enjoy the A/C. RELAX!!!!!

That's exactly what I did Karen!!! :thumbsup2 ;) :thumbsup2

What an incredible story.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGAN

Ahhh....sorry. Have you seen those dealy-bobbers that you can wear around your neck and they keep you cooler? We keep them in the freezer at our shop for Jay and the guys to use. I'll look them up for you, if you've never heard of them, or have no idea what a dealy-bobber is. ;)

What an incredible story.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGAN

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WITH A COOL CAKE, MEGAN!

P.S. I have a Megan, too...but she's 25 now. Her birth is an amazing story too, because I was only 4 years old when I had her. Now, if you believe that, I have a bridge for sale........

That is an amazing story -- today will always mean so much to you, in some ways, more than to Megan.

The worst part is I said "huh?" to myself. I actually wondered how that was possible. Sometimes I ain't too bright.

That cake is a far cry from the cake mix cupcakes I made, that is for sure. :)

That's an awesome story.....

Hope your 11th birthday is a great one, Megan!

Hazel and I bought two neck wraps in St. Thomas a couple of years ago. I put mine in a bowl of cold water in the frig for the gel to swell, then in the morning I put it in my cooler that I take with me to work. It does help to keep me cool. Is this the same thing you are talking about?

All our children are miracles, but it sounds like Megan is more than most. How wonderful that she was stubborn enough to stay with you.

YES! That's a dealy-bobber!! Sorry, I couldn't think of neck wrap. Having a senior moment or two. Or three.

Evening everyone.

Just dropping by as I've only just got home as me and my staff went out tonight for a meal as one of my colleagues was retiring and today was her last day:sad2:

Lovely meal and I had to make the speech and presentation.

I'm now quite tired so I'll have an early night - Goodnight all.

David
