Thanks Diane!!!:yay: :yay: I missed you in chat last week.:sad1:

That is so nice of you to say! It's nice to be missed now & then. :goodvibes

I was at the Red Sox game! :woohoo: We were in the 9th row right behind the on-deck circle for the Red Sox. I watched the game the next day & we even made it on camera! I'm a star now! Anybody want an autograph? :rotfl2:

I really hope to make chat this week! :thumbsup2

We couldn't stand the thought of going without a DCL trip until August 2008 so we booked a fix for January 3, 2008 (3-night Wonder).

I figure the best way to get the DCL monkey off my back is to just give in and admit that "hi, my name is Bill and I'm a DCL addict". Wow that feels better, now if I could only get on the ship.:boat:

Yep sometimes you just gotta take the plunge & feed that addiction! ;) Congrats on booking your cruise! :yay:

Hi Everyone! It is a very quiet 4th here. My parents took ds8 - again - this time to their cabin in Northern Wisconsin. Yes, they did just bring him back on Saturday from their Elderhostel trip!:rolleyes1 That kid has been traveling practically since school got out. The first day out of school, he and I flew to Orlando and met DH there. After 12 days at WDW, we came home and he was here for 6 days (well, sort of at home - he was at Art Camp every day!) and then G&G took him on an Elderhostel to Branson (not their most adventurous Elderhostel!). They brought him home a week later and they were home for 3 days this time before heading out again. I expect that they'll bring him back on Sunday.

There were some posts a few pages back about problems with difficult grandparents - we are REALLY lucky with that. I am an only child and very close with my parents. For the last 7 years I have worked with them in the family business (I spent about 12 years in the corporate world before that) so I see them nearly every day. They live about 3 miles away also. DH has 2 sets of parents (divorced and remarried when he was really young - but the 2nd marriages worked, so he just has 2 sets of parents) that live about an hour or so away. His mom and stepdad are also pretty good at the grandparent thing and DS occasionally has gone to stay with them for a few days. His dad and stepmom are not really into kids - they love seeing him when we get together with them for dinner or something, but they have never wanted DS to come and stay.

This should be the end of DS8's traveling for a little while. My parents are going to Germany (part business/part fun) for 2 weeks at the end of July, and since someone has to hold down the fort at the office, we won't be traveling then either. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to go to the cabin ourselves in August.

No fireworks for us today. The big ones in Chicago were last night, but the crowds are so crazy that we never go. Our town waits and does fireworks on the 14th as part of our "Railroad Days" festival. Our town was the first railroad town in Illinois and a major junction. We still have 2 major lines that cross here. One plus of doing fireworks after the 4th is that we get a discount - all the "duds" that didn't fire at all the area shows are refused and used for our show. It tends to be pretty long and spectacular!

I hope everyone here in the states has a great holiday!

Yeah, I was thinking last night it was getting closer to my speed:cool1:

With work, the kids and recooping from surgery in April I've been overwhelmed. I'm just starting to feel normal again:goodvibes

DH and I have plans to go to WDW for a weekend in July to celebrate our anniversary. It's number 15 so we are splurging on the Grand Floridian and Victoria and Alberts:banana:

(We went to V&A a few years back and were hooked:love: )

We have hopper passes from the last trip and plan to see a bit more of EPCOT this time. If we survive the heat:eek:

Sorry you had surgery but glad you are recovering!

Please tell us all about V&A when you get back! I already told my DH that we are going there for our 25th anniversary. I still have about 7 years, but I figure by then the kids will be all grown up & we can do an adults only trip without feeling too guilty. I know people do it all the time, but it just seems like they are already growing so darn fast that I want to get as many WDW trips out of them while they are still young. So V&A will have to wait & I'll just live vicariously through anybody else that goes. ;)

My DD is going to be a teen tomorrow!!! How the heck did that happen???

The same way Angelina will be starting her senior year of high school, just way toooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fast!!!

Oh, it's 3pm, time for Aveeno..................:lmao:

I see the DIS clock is 10 minutes behind the real time again..........:rolleyes1

In the spirit of the 4th - DH is singing the National Anthem as he is working out in the yard .... OK, maybe that isn't that strange given the date - but he is singing the SECOND verse! How many people even know the 2nd verse?!? Let alone sing it and they shovel dirt in the back yard????? :confused3 There are actually 8 verses, but I only know 2 and I'm a little shakey on the 2nd (though obviously DH is better than I am at it!)

Pamela (pdarrah)

On the shore, dimly seen thro’ the mist of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream

’Tis the star-spangled banner. Oh! long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I had read about V&A back in 2000 and was bugging my DH for years to go. When we finally went (I think it was August 2004), we had such an amazing time that I knew I had to find another excuse to go back;)
We did debate bringing the kids with us, but we so seldom get any time alone in a romantic setting (My DH is probably the least romantic man I know:confused3 -he umpired an out of town tournament last year on our anniversary) that I felt we desperately needed the weekend to ourselves.

My DS turned 13 last December. I'm still trying to get my head around it:confused:
Suddenly dawned on me though that he was old enough to do more chores around the house;)

I understand, DD turned 13 in May. You look away for a second and when you look back they are all grown up.

We are seeing this with DD21. A few weeks ago she was 8 now she's 21 and engaged to a young man she has been dating for about a year.

He joined the navy as a medic this year and soon she will be off to places unknown. I think he's a good kid and they will do well together.

Youch!!!
And I go crazy with my occasional ezema. I remember my friends putting white gloves on their kids when they got Chicken Pox so they wouldn't scratch so hard. So Sorry!!!!!:sad1:

Andy,

I feel your itching!!!
I had my first case of poison ivy this past Sunday. It is not a pretty sight. Between Benadryl, Caladryl and Aveeno it is helping.

I hope the fireworks in Boston are able to go on . . . my youngest daughter is in Boston visiting my sister and I know they planned to see them . . . I know we are likely to have t-storms right at the start of the Macy's fireworks but I was hoping the weather would hold for Boston.

well, if she has never seen them before she is in for a treat!! We have decided to head on in since it looks like they won't cancel them until they absolutely have to. We will already be in town anyway. Just gonna bring my poncho :thumbsup2

I watched the end of Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest a little bit ago. Joey Chestnut from the USA won the title with a world record breaking feat of eating 66 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes. The old record was 59 and 1/2 hot dogs and buns.

I saw that on TV. The winner from last year, who has won it consecutive times the past couple of years had a problem with his jaw so he wasn't up to 100%.

I am so glad a person from the USA won especially on the
4th of July!!!!

Also, nice pictures of Angelina. I remember she was just a child when we first met on our cruise in 2004 and now she is a beautiful young lady!!! You and Hazel did something right!!!

You will have a great time at CW. You said you are going with Disney. Is it thru Adventures of Disney? Let me know when you are coming here. I live a mile from Colonial Williamsburg. Tonite they are having there Fireworks and people from all over come to see them. Also Busch Gardens have their fireworks tonite along with Yorktown. The skies around here tonite will be lit!!!!

I'm Glad someone else finally won!!!

Impressive, yet pretty gross, too . . . there was much talk around here on the news that the defending champion (a young Japanese guy) was suffering from arthritis of the jaw (?!) and was having a hard time opening his mouth all the way! Sound like Joey was going to break the record regardless of the competition, though.

Occupational Hazard? :rotfl2:

Well it's been thundering for awhile. Just letting up for now and hopefully clear up for the nighttime festivities. Glad I didn't have any plans as I would really be disappointed.

I just thought we could since here it is thundering... and raining.. soggy day for the folks at the parks.
