Wow crossing over and rockets in the same meeting!!!!
We had our rocket launch Friday night. Crossing over will be this Friday, and I too shall be the proud scout mommy of a wolf & a bear!!! They boys should have alot in common come cruise time. DH is the wolf leader now, he will move up to the bears. I got roped into being treasurer.
I would not have the patience to be a den leader.
Bless all those who actually do!

That's great - we'll have to get the boys chatting before cruise time.

I'm not moving up - since we will be in a new pack, DH & I think we might volunteer to run one event/project next year and call it good. He is committee chair this year.

Until this year, rockets were the May pack meeting and crossing was the first Sat. in June, but our school sched. changed this year and they will already be out for 2 weeks when June rolls around, so we combined the two. We figured no one would show up if we waited until June. People take their summer weekends seriously up here. We don't even have Little League games on Sat & Sun.

Finally had some time to fool around with the scanner and photobucket, here is ds communion pic

Maureen, how nice!! He's a doll!!

Was there an update? What did you en up doing last night to celebrate?

"She" went in to take a nap, and didn't want to get up to go have dinner, even after her Dad changed his plans so that he could stay home and take her out. She was really being a ST to the max.
She happied up a little when we brought out the cake.
I'd forgotten what it was like to be a teenager in love...missing the boyfriend so much that she could ruin her own birthday. Mean mom that I am, she didn't get any sympathy out of me!

So now, because of her, DH postponed his trip, and he won't be home for Mother's Day. :sad1: So I'm going to lock myself in my room and pretend I never had kids. ;)

But for all the other Moms out there

Have a wonderful Mother's Day!!!

with lots of CAKE!

Stinky Teen! (although I was dating DH who was 600 miles away when I was 17, so I sorta get her point!)

I try to do that every year! I'm something of a Mother's Day Scrooge.
DH thinks that someday the ghosts of Mother's Day past, present and future will visit me! :lmao:

  YEAH YEAH YEAH   We are officially booked on the cruise now!!!!!! pirate: I just wanted to share that with everyone! I was so excited to log into DCL and see our names there!!! :cloud9: Thank You Andy!!!!!

Well I am off to bed, we are going to the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mt. Georgia tomorrow. I've never been but it looks like alot of fun! http://www.animalsafari.com You get to feed and pet all kinds of animals. I think Mac will really love it.

:tinker: I hope everyone has Magical Dreams!!! :tinker:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I am beat! No, wait - BEAT!

Left the house at 0630 to work the health fair. Headed to Cub Scout camp by 1. LOOONNNGGG awards and bridge crossing ceremony (80 scouts). I'm now the proud Scout Mommy of a Wolf & a Bear. I got the "You Must Be Nuts Award" for serving as Tiger leader 2 years in a row (first grade boys - 11 of them!) Then we had a pack rocket launch. I happy to report that the rockets we build last night actually worked! Rocket building is usually Dad's department.

Then DS8 had baseball practice 4:30-6:30. We ate takeout Chinese & now I am DISing with a glass of wine. AAAaaaahhhhhhh.

Heading back for ketchup....

Why surely YOU were never like that at a ST!?!

I'm trying to think what age I was when I wanted to hang with my friends for my birthday rather than my parents...

Thanks, I dropped having sugar when I was young and the only sweeter's would be in diet coke so i have dropped that and on decaf as well.

I am on the other side of the Island form the capital Palma, over the north east, at Pollensa, inland from Port Pollensa and Alcudia.

Should be warm, not hot,

Have you been diagnosed with hypertension? or could the headaches be caffeine withdrawal? back when I was drinking 4-5 Pepsis a day (old work site had free sodas :cloud9:) I would get wicked headaches on the weekends because of sleeping later than my first- and second-Pepsi breaktimes :sad2:

Happy Mothers' Day everyone!

I've always loved my Mom and dad... with thier defects and imperfections it did not matter. BUT NOW... we have two kids and wonder how on Earth did they manage to raise 4 kids? And just in this way alone I have more appreciation for the job my parents did in raising us. I do remember a few times when i was being disciplined... but that does not matter. What matters more is the effort it takes ... and it matters that our parents NEVER hinted at the scale of effort they put out to raise us! Hence, I appreciate my parents more today then ever before. With that I bid everyone a Happy Mothers' Day. A fine occasion to express a token of affection and appreciation for our respective Mothers.

Glad you had fun at DL. Tom, that is a very neat thing about sending the girls to Chinese school. I have never heard of that.

There was a segment on 20/20, Dateline...one of those kinds of shows...and they were talking about how China is trying to export something very very important: their language. They are under the impression that perhaps it's time the rest of the world--and the US in particular--start learning more about their language considering there are one billion more Chinese than Americans and China has 1/5 the world's population. So, there are plenty of high schools all around the country that are offering Chinese as a foreign language. Colleges are following suit. Not just the spoken word, but also the written language. The schools feel this will better prepare students to be competetive in the global marketplace.

hmmmmm I already did the first 3 so I guess I'm way ahead! pirate:

You were asking what to get your DW...I think the flowers would be nice. I was going to get some from Whole Foods but haven't been able to get away to do any errands like that.

DW came back home to a cleaned garage...so much so that she can actually park the SUV in there! :thumbsup2 Of course only one can fit since we still have LOTS of packed boxes from the move. But at least it is all organized so after unpacking the 15-20 boxes downstairs, we can get to work on the 20 or so in the garage.

She also got a new grill (I went with gas ;)) and a patio furniture set. She had mentioned those little hibachi grills so we may return the giganto one tomorrow and instead get one of those smaller tabletop grills like the Weber Q or Lowe's PerfectFlame.

Oddly enough, the tabletop/tailgating/boat grills are just as pricey as the full sized ones! But, reviews say they are perfect for 4-6 people and since we're not going to have the slew of leeche, er, friends ;) coming over, this may just be perfect for us.

Saw an ad for an outdoor living place on TV and they are here in town. Patio furniture, grills etc. We're going to take a look and see what they have.

My replies are editied in red below....

OK I am gonna agree with your wife here.................If you could have afforded the suit at the time---you should have gotten it. Great quality suits for men and women cost a lot. (Now I am not into names and such with clothes, but that sounds like it would have been something that she would have gotten use out of and not just hung in the closet, like a suit would be for me):)

OK.... you're RIGHT and I should have let her get the Chanel suit. I'm guilty as charged!!!

Hind sight is always 20/20. Tom, I totally understand about you wanting to get into a more hands on business. But I know how time consuming a 365/24 business can be. I love retail (not when gas prices are sky rocketing, but that is an entirely different problem. I just tell my customers to be thankful they are buying it a tankful at a time and not a tanker truck!) It is very demanding and you can tell in big difference in owner ran locations than absentee ones. The biggest and hardest issue is trust. I can't tell you how many employees over the years I have prosecuted--and I do prosecute. I can picture you being in your glory running your own store! But, I can also relate to the missed family time I have endured over the years because of my stores. I am enjoying working with DS now--he still doesn't put in a lot of hours because of school. I hope that he gets "the bug" and one day buy at least one of them from us.

I can soooo relate to what you're saying here. We used to buy ocean container loads of furniture - sometimes the oversize 40x10' jumbos - and most folks could not imagine signing for a half dozen of these packed solid with goods! AND... I WAS that young kid who grew up in the family business ... sitting behind the counter watching for shop lifters and wrangling deals... plus I was the delivery truck driver (with hired muscle to help me deliver heavy goods). I never took vacations as my family ran the business 365 days a year... and we stayed open longer hours ON the holidays. The up side is we tended to go out to nice dinners almost every nite.

It seems that your home business gives you so much quality time with your girls! The interaction you are sharing with them is priceless--enjoy it! Hopefully one day you will have your "whole dream" and get to "horse trade" and handle the green backs. But the thing with cash and employees is sometimes it is not a great fit! I have gone to a system where the employees have to enter their code and deposit into bill readers, armored car picks up. I never have to count money!!!!!! I came to the conclusion a long time ago (I think in my bank teller days) that if it doesn't get to go into my personal bank account it is just green paper! No thrill at all unless I get to keep all of it.

Interesting... I noticed you seem to have been editing your posting here. Oh well... I can say again, maybe indeed one of these days maybe I'll do something like you describe. But then I have to consider what my spouse says. And she says she likes things the way they are now. Well... sort of. She's always telling me about something I forgot or something I need to do (another honey do chore). And on keeping all of it... I can only agree enthusiasticly.

Hope you enjoyed your pool day! You got an awesome deal on the float--amazing how things work out sometimes.:)

The awesome deal is perhaps not the term! Rather ... I really did steal it as the "regular price" was over $100... how much exactly I don't recall... but I think it was something like $169 and I got it for something like $20 delivered with sales tax! That qualifies as thievery in my book! Alas, my spouse would consider it an "average deal" in her eyes! SHE is a mighty fine shopper compared to me!

And the pool side fun was pleasant today. We had a bunch of neighborhood kids out and they were all google eyeing the bumper boat with electric water pistol! Me .. I just flipped throuigh the weekend USA Today and a magazine that came in the mail today. The spouse kept tabs on the kiddies half the time!

Corr taken me over an hour to try to post anything again.

I love sea days! :thumbsup2 I could easily do 6 or more days at sea (could be my Navy days when we stayed at sea for weeks at a time!) ;)

A couple of years ago I researched a cruise from Hawaii to Singapore that was going to take 28 days with most of them at sea! I just couldn't swing the time off.

I do not mind the one or two but six together,No

Sorry but I still don't know who they are. :confused3
Everyone will say that on Monday

Allright they didn't win and they didn't come last.

They deserved to be in the top five at least but with the Eastern bloc vote as it is there was no chance quite evidently from the start of the voting.

From a viewers point of view the production of the UK entry was terrible - it was much better when it was shown on UK television - at some points you couldn't even hear the tongue-in-cheek one-liners.

Never mind.

David
Told you

I'm still looking into this... but here's their home page to examine... http://www.scooch.co.uk/

However... I believe they are a pop vocalizing sensation. I am googling for a WAV file so I can get a sample of thier music... if that's what it is. Here's a video clip - look for the hot link on this page... http://www.telechargement-mp3-gratuit.com/clip-video-scooch/ You might have to enable the ACTIVE-X block that should appear on the top edge of your screen... look for it.

They seem to be representing the UK at a Eurovision contest / challenge of some sort this year. Not sure if it's happened yet or not. It sounds like a televised game show like the American Idol of something. Well... having just read a little further... Eurovision is a song competition that;s been running for 50 years.... and last year it drew contestants from 42 countries. Impressive!

_42907799_euro8_getty.jpg

I'm listening to their 3 minute video clip which I posted above ... they sound pretty good plus their airline crew costumes are pretty snazzy!
Eurovision in a nutshell
Well as I predicted to myself, the Magic left a bit late. And she blew her horn early as well. 4:50pm instead of the reg 5pm. Not too many people up top, Looks like they had wands with silver tinsel. And for the first time since we have been going out to watch them leave, NO HORN while she sailed past us :sad1:
She sailed past us at 5:35 and most were probably getting ready for dinner.I see a real discrepancy with the times here today. If she sailed past us at 5:35, she wasn't even out of the port at the time Andrew saw her .:confused3

Anyway met some more disers. Laura, Pam and her husband Mike. As soon as I can I will post the video.

Yes the DIS clock is out!!! I posted as I saw her on Two palms, and two others posted the pictures just after, I didnt know how to do that from a Webcam. Look at the times on the pictures from the following posts to mine against the Dis clock it was about 30 mins out.
