DAY 1 - PART 2

Surprised to see me on here so early? Me too. I think I'm getting old like jb. It was 23:00 and I was comfy and cozy at the AC when I decided to head back and turn in "early" as I have to get up early tomorrow, today, whatever.

After I logged out last time, I sauntered down to the Concierge lounge. Hadn't had anything to eat since the croissant early in the AM and dinner was still a few hours away. Lounge was nice and the CMs very friendly. They had a small assortment of goodies out for the afternoon and beverages. Basically it was rice krispie treats, choc chip cookies, sugar cookies, gooey brownies and fresh fruit. Grabbed a cookie, a brownie and a cup of coffee and headed back to my room. Sort of felt like being on a Disney cruise... just having food available.

I snacked, I took about an hour nap, then got a nice hot shower and ready to go to dinner. I noticed some Pirates all decked out for the evening, but decided against my costume. It was WAY too windy for a skirt. Think I'll save that for the movie.

Got to the dock about 10 minutes before we borded and just sort of stood around. Some of the costumes were what you'd expect. Some were good, some silly. There were a few who showed up in regular clothes but with bandanas, necklaces and floaties. It was rather funny. The brought over the General Sherman Potter ferry to take us over to Fort Wilderness. OK, so it's not the SHERMAN Potter, but that's the only General Potter I know and I can't remember the real name right now.

Anyway, I meet some folks on the top deck and we chat our way across the lagoon. Once we arrive at Fort Wilderness, it takes them a few minutes to get us docked safely, but we're rewarded with this green grog once we're back on dry land. They had red grog for the folks who dare put the name of pirate to shame, but to each his own. As we're walking along to River Country, we suddenly stop. There's a line forming and it appears they're taking pictures up ahead. Since I don't normally like having my picture taken for stuff like this, I was happy to sneak by - but the people I were with stuck it out and chatting made the time go quickly. I'm glad I did, too, because the picture wasn't just any picture. It was a picture with Lee Arenberg. JOY.... you are right. He is a cutie!! Very friendly, not in a hurry to snap a picture and NEXT!! He snuggled up to the guests and dropped into character every now and then. He truly did seem to be enjoying himself.

Next was time to find more grog and my table for dinner. I show up just as they're telling us to help ourselves to the buffet, so I hop in line, grab a small bit of something, grab a beer (jb... Corona in a can - ugh!) and have a seat. We're right in front of the 'stage' but there's nothing really going on right away.

Lee Arenberg and Joel Harlow (Makeup Artist for POTC II & III) both circulated while everyone ate. I must say that Joel is a cutie too! Lee likes to talk and talk. Joel talked too, but not like Lee. He just went on and on. Not that I was disappointed, I just would've liked to have sat down for it. I had gotten up to get something else to eat as the buffet was set up rather oddly (two tables one end, two the other end, different food, no direction) and when I came back to the table, Lee had stopped by and as my seat was the only one empty, he chose that one to lean on while he chatted. I stood aside and while Corona in a can isn't the best, it was still beer and I just worried about it with him just standing there.

After he left, Joel stopped by for a moment, then we had an artist get up and paint a POTC skull & crossbones in like 10-15 minutes to music, which of course they'll put up for auction on Thursday evening.

It was a nice evening. They had us set up on a walkway I think in front of the River Country counter service area. It was very intimate and I think there were only about 80 of us... if that. At the end of the evening, they gave each table a bag of keys with one to open the chest that was the centerpiece. We dumped out the keys and I quickly grabbed the 'Master' key.... seeing as it was a 'Master' lock it took little brains to figure out which key fit it. However, we didn't need it as one of the other gals at the table just took the lock and chain off. Inside were these parchtment scrolls, one for everyone, saying something to the effect of safe this for some swag. Then, they announced that the boat would be ready at 20:15 and when we got back to go to the such and such room and we'd have something special waiting for us.

Off the boat, we quickly make our way to such and such room, show our event ID's, and are given this huge bag. I'm not talking a little gift bag, I'm talking this very large, and heavy, shopping bag. By now it's just about 21:00 and I need to decide what to do. I take my bag up to my room, hit the head (not MY head, THE head.... you know.... bathroom - nautical term) (I think I've used that before, oh well) and then scooted down to grab a bus to Downtown Disney. Yes, I left that swag completely untouched until I returned.

The bus ride freaked me out a bit. Did you know the busses talk now? They do. It was a little weird, the usually thank you for riding WDW Transportation, please hold on, etc., but it also played "themed" music to each area. We had Contemporary Music at the Contemporary and when we turned the corner for the Polynesian, Island Music came on. Then it told everyone where we were going and all that blah blah stuff.

The AC was a bit slow tonight. Not as many people I recognized but mostly I think I'm suffering from jetlag. Can you do that when you don't cross any time zones???? Who knows, but I think so. Plus there was a mix up and I got the wrong drink - bad bartender communication - and I nearly fell off my stool! Had to spit it out. Not sure WHAT it was but it was too strong for me. (Shut up you!) I just wasn't into it so I left around 23:00.

So, here we are..... 00:22 and I'm finishing up a snack before bed.

Up for tomorrow:

Breakfast at POTC attraction, Ride POTC, Tim O'Day and the Disney Ledgends, Inside the Pirate Studio, Lunch, Artist Signings / Meet & Greets, Walt Disney Classics Connections Seminar, Meet the Crew from POTC Seminar, Dinner. And somewhere a nap. Not sure if I'll make to the AC tomorrow, today, whatever, as the last event doesn't get over until 21:30 and there's more gift distribution.

DAY 2 - PART 1

Alarm went off at 06:01. I was awake at 06:00.... but there's no way I would've thought it was 06:00. At 06:00 at home, there's already daylight. Here, no light. Those curtains really do there job. Cleaned up and dressed by 06:25 and downstairs to the bus.

We loaded up two Disney Cruiseline Busses then took the back roads in to the Adventureland Area. Funny thing is they never told us no pictures backstage. Along the path, Rusty Cutlass was already playing a few tunes to get us ready for a great day.

When we arrived at POTC, the tables were set up just inside the entrace to POTC, right before you enter the queue. You know what I'm talking about so wipe that confused look off your face. It was very nicely set up. Linen tablecloths and napkins, two forks, the whole bit. There were also some yummy looking drinks that everyone thought were Bloody Mary's until we remembered... Magic Kingdom! Turns out it was some fruity type of drink. Which means I didn't drink it. Citrus and me - we don't mix.

Rusty Cutlass continued to play for a bit, and there were pastries and strawberries on the table. Then they served a preplated meal to everyone. Scrambled eggs in a pastry dish, herby potatoes, sausage and bacon. It was ok. Mine was just warm, but still edible. While we were eating Jason Surrell, a Walt Disney Imagineer spoke to the crowd about the rehab of POTC and explained the story of the ride as it was and as it is. Very interesting. Someone had a video camera and I wish I had done that. Jason asked everyone who would be riding the ride for the first time this morning. Not a hand went up. Figures.

After breakfast, we all headed into POTC and hopped into our boats. Seems that they did some more tweaking because when I rode it yesterday, there was some sound missing or very quiet. They still need to turn Captain Jack up at the end, but all in all - a GREAT ride. Upon exiting, we crossed the way and walked into that Pirate and Parrot restaurant. It was closed, obviously, (though it was open the other day when I went through) and there he was Captain Jack Sparrow, happily posing for pictures with everyone. After the picture, everyone got a jumbo POTC Event pin and we sat around while Rusty Cutlass played some more.

Then, it was time to hop back on the bus and head back to the Contemporary. Went back to my room and cleaned up a bit - boy I make a mes. Then I got a call from a co-worker - thought she was calling to complain about our boss, but turns out she had some bad news that the absolutelely bestest "big wig" at work is moving the end of June. He's basically the one keeping everyone sane and it's going to be so sad to loose him. I really liked him - very very down to earth for a minister and except for that last bit, reminded me of Ken.

Anyway, the next seminar starts at 10:30 so it's time for me to stop at the lounge for some coffee and head downstairs. Will catch you all up later.

Last night's Swag Bag contents: A Davy Jones chest with a POTC event stamp on the bottom, inside was some plastic treasure (beads, coins, gems) and a heart trinket box that was also stamped and said LE:300. A honkin' square crystal piece with Davy Jones scuplted inside with a light up base and adapter, LE:80. It's probably 6"x4"x3". It's pretty big for this kind of thing and H-E-A-V-Y. "Ye Swabs" commemorative artwork by David Avanzino. About 8"x8", LE: 80. And finally a thing. It's like a scrabook book page, but on very heavy carboard. The piece is about 11"x11" and says "Me Loot Inside" and has two flaps that open to reveal the inside. On the left flap is a piece of fancy paper. On the right is some keys, a chest, "Treasure! Treasure!" and "Ahoy There". In the center it says "Deadmen tell no tales." Followed by this poem:

"Jennifer

Pirate Jen sails the sea
Witha a hold full of treasures untold;
Just what it is, nonecan can agree
Be it rubies, pearls, silver or gold.

To reveal her assets, men ask her
As they ply her with rum cake and drinks
And her answer she says with a purr:
"That's not what you're askin', me thinks!" "

And the last think on that page is "The Search for Buried Treasure"

On the back it has:
"Pirates Beware
If ye be a knon pirate,
cutthroat or theif,
ye will be hanged!
That means you
Captain Jack"

"The Pirate Code of Captain Jack"
I. Every man shall have an equal vote
II. Every man shall be called fairly, in turn, those who defraud shall be marooned
III. None shall game for money
IV. Lights cut by eight each night
V. He who deserts his crew shall be marooned
VI. Every man's quarrel shall end on shore by sword or pistol
VII. The musicians shall rest on the Sabbath Day
VIII. Ye shall eat, drink, and be a pirate
IX. Ye shall wear clean underbritches"

Some very nice stuff, I think. I'd update you with the morning's activity, but it's time to go to another seminar. Will be back before dinner.

DAY 2 - PART 2

OK.... where d'we leave off?

First seminar I went to was hosted by Tim O'Day with Disney Legends Alice Davis & Harriet Burns, sculptor Ruben Procopio, and Creative Director for Disney Consumer Products, Dave Pacheco. For the first 15 minutes, Tim had Alice & Harriet talk about their involvement with the original POTC at Disneyland. Then for the next 30 minutes, he talked with Ruben & Dave about the pirate editions of the Walt Disney Classics Collection. As far as I was concerned, we could've swapped the amount of time, but as this is a collectors event, I guess we'll take what we can get.

After that, we had a 15 minute break and the next seminar was "Inside the Pirate Studio", hosted by Jason Surrell with Lee Arenberg. This was another great time with Lee and it was just so much fun. Again he talked, talked, talked and it went over by about 15 minutes. Which was fine with me. He truly is a great guy and I could easily see him just hanging out with any one of us. In fact last night as we were gathering getting ready to leave the River Country area, his table was right near us. It was him, Joel Harlow, (POTC Makeup Artist), and Jon Rogers (Director of Franchise Development for Buena Vista Motion Pictures), and a few others. What was the topic of discussion? They were comparing the DL POTC and the WDW POTC, both past and present. If you had your back towards them you could've sworn they were just a bunch of Disney nuts like the rest of us.

Anyway, that seminar ended and we had a quick break while they set up for lunch. Lunch was an ok buffet. Not as good as last night, but enough to satisfy me without being FULL. During lunch Lee asked the coordinators to set him up at the front of the room so he could visit with people and sign autographs because during the "Meet & Greets" he just signs things and people have to move on and he doesn't get a chance to talk with us. He said that we deserved the chance to chat with him a bit without being in a rush. Like I said, a really great guy.

After lunch, I headed back to my room, took a nap, found out my brother is moving to Massachusetts the end of June, and checked in here. I quickly got ready for the afternoon session which was a "Meet the Crew" Seminar, including Jason Surrell, Jim Byrkit (POTC Movies Storyboard Artist), Hal Hickel (Animation Supervisor, Joel Harlow, Lee Arenberg, and Jon Rogers. Again, another GREAT session. All of these people are very nice, Lee more than the rest and sincerly appreciative of the POTC fans. It is obvious that they really enjoyed working on the POTC movies and it's just amazing and thankful they are. No exploded egos here. I met up with some folks from The Mouse For Less and chatted with them for a while. Then, I came back here, grabbed a beer in the concierge lounge (jb - Heineken bottle this time) and a couple snacks to tide me over till dinner.

Houskeeping *just* showed up. Asked her to give me a half an hour so I could finish this up then I'll head to dinner. I think I'm going to pass on the AC tonight. I'm still not 100% and tomorrow night is going to be a doozie so I need to get ready. I have decided to skip the auction tomorrow. Nothing I *have* to have and probably not in my price range anyway. I'll head to the AC instead. Tonight, all that's left is dinner, but it's not scheduled to get over until 21:30 so I'll be back for an update.

There's more than one way to get rid of a groundhog.

Here we go again....

..I read that her engagement has been postponed. Engaged at 18??? How can you know what you want at that age? I would LOVE to see this year's tour. :) :) :)

I was engaged at 18 and married at 19.:)

Hi Everyone! Back from convention - it was a blast! Going to play ketchup

I was engaged at 18 and married at 19.:)

I think I'd be correct in saying my spouse and I were "together" for about 9 years before I proposed. Then we were engaged a little under 2 years before we got married. Hmmm.... that was 12 years ago? So I was 32 (+/-1) when we married .... and about 29 (+/-1) when I proposed.... and she maintains she was 19 when we started going out. That would be correct then as I am about 9 months older then her. :)

preception of....:wizard:

iam sorta into finding things, making me happy....not that there's
anything wrong with that- :rolleyes1 , but i finally learn there's
sumpthing special..in doing things right.
:goodvibes

hinto, where did some of this come from....a prime example, would
be after our 2002 wdw/cruise trip.....and i was baby sitting jordan...
she was playing make beleive....& what she did came from her
friends @ disney..including the lil'girl who pixiedust: she was ariel.

......would any of you :grouphug: like to "see" the real Ariel???, *per
my daughter's eyes & imagination. [ i can remember how i felt when
i looked over & saw what she was playing~acting]. i then asked her
to sing "part of your world"...i was amazed..she not only knew every
word...but..she had every detail from her hands to her presentations.
here's she was only 4, and me?....i can only recalled the first line,
:rolleyes1 .

:thumbsup2 , its always exciting watching the kids with the characters,
and the art forms they produced. :) ...it something that i believe,
preserving walt's spirit to this day....where ever there's a disney's
landings, this needs to be there or iam disappointed.

...when iam work, where others are depending on my skills for
recovery.....it's not a game! there, one can "see" the ways the lil'
things help others to help themselves. * i wouldn't rely on it,
if it didn't produced, positive outcomes. :coffee: ,sorry, for
ramblings...it's my boring nature...like doing the :laundy:

I had to say....

... what wonderful thoughts and memories to share with us... thank you! I also would like to share that just last nite my two girls were singing in decent harmony a song they seemed to have just made up! It was such a heart warming moment I only wish I had my digicam to shoot a movie of it... and now all I have is the memory in my minds' eye. With any luck I'll capture it again someday soon.

Alas... I must also admit to preaching to many many others that it is so important to find the things which make you happy and ... and then simply try to do more of it! Which is similar to the comments you posted above that I highlighted. And - do no harm unto others which you would not in turn accept in return from others. Not exactly scripture - but for an offhand remark now - it will do.

SO anyways... I find myself skipping along a constant 100 postings behind te new ones. As quick as I read and post remarks the leading edge of the thread stays about 100 postings out front. So I'll not be catching up anytime soon since the evening prime time to post in coming up - and I gotta a few errands to run in the next 2-3 hours. SO --- with this I bid everyone a brief and fond farewell... and in advance may I add a good nite to all whom I'll miss later tonight. Don't let the beddy bigs bite!

Real quick trip report. Pics have not been edited yet, haven't even uploaded the 2nd camera. So those will come later.

We did not see the movie. We had the cheap seats, which meant we camped out on Main Street all day, just for a chance to see the stars walk the red carpet.

It was a blast. I'm still exhausted but we had a great time. We got autographs from Johnny, Orlando, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Pryce (Gov Swann), Kevin McNally (Mr Gibbs), Chow Yun FatCap Sao Feng), Martin Klebba (Marty), David Schofield (Mr Mercer) all from the movie. Then we also got Christy Ramano (Kim Possible), Jon Voight, Wilmer Valderrama (That 70's Show), Ian Zierling (Dancing w/the Stars), Kim Smith (Victoria Secret model), Ricardo Chavira (Desparate Housewives), Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty).....whew, that's all I can remember right now.

Got in line at 3:30am. There were already about 500 people ahead of us. Security opened at 5. We got in line for the farthest left turnstyle and were about 20 people back. When the gates opened at 6:30am, we grabbed our spot on Main Street directly in front of City Hall. We were about 30-40 feet from the beginning of the fans. Directly across from us were the main paparazzi set ups. Many of the photos you may have seen floating around were taken right in front of us. The stars did a long line of media, then came back to the beginning to greet the fans. There was a group of 7 of us. We were first and second rows behind the barriers.

It was a very long day and at one point I thought I was going to have to give up. I got so naseaus. Not sure why, maybe just the heat and the crowds. I took a break in City Hall and when Keith Richards was walking by, I headed back out. Fortunately we had a great group of people who were waiting with us all day long and they let me back in to the front.

Finally left the park about 8:45pm. Didn't get to sleep until 11:30pm. Then was woken up by fireworks at 11:45pm. I guess the movie had just ended. I'm sure it was great. I'll be seeing it on Thursday!!

Sounds like you had a great time!

Gets tattooed on Todd's arm! :teeth:

Maybe it was the male groundhog coordinator........we all know what happens to male groundhogs on the road.....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hazel got a call from the school nurse at 12:30 this afternoon, our poor baby is so sick. Hazel was able to get Angelina in to see the doc at 3:30 and came home with three new prescriptions. Angelina's allergies are really BAD this year and I'm not surprised as I usually don't suffer with pollen, but I'm even having trouble as of late. Angelina is in bed and Hazel just left to pick up the new meds. I sure hope they kick in fast, the Gwen Stefani concert is only 4 days away. Please send some extra :wizard: this way, thanks!!!

:wizard:

A lot happening on the July 28th thread and One of the regulars from here has joined us taking my Dis time away from here.

Went to Doctors, Brain Scan is ok, but on tablets to correct the headaches, considered Tension headaches at this time.

Night.

I'm glad they not only found your brain, but that it appears to be functioning properly.

Warning groundhog posts ahead: Catching up here!

:wave2: all. DH talked me into joining the ranks. :confused3 Was at the Disney store today and saw an Elizabeth Swan outfit (Asian one) for girls for $50. Plus the shoes and the headress...... It was beautiful, has anyone else seen it? My DD6 Austyn would make a beautiful Elizabeth.

Welcome!!!

OK...here goes!!!!

First of all AI!!!!!! O---M---G!!!!!! Jordin was AMAZING last night!!!!! I enjoy Blake's bbopping but only the first song was good for him last night IMO. The second song was just blah and the last one had no business ever coming from his diaphram. He was flat at several points & looked extremely uncomfortable...especially apparent when he was bouncing up & down in the middle of the song. :( Let's just say I hope that he doesn't win so that he doesn't have to ever sing This is My Now again. They always have a song like that for the final song...so it's not like they purposely chose a song that he wouldn't be able to sing. Melinda would have sung it beautifully too. I know that some people are posting that Jordin has rich parents who have given her everything but I have to say SO WHAT? They can't buy her a voice that sounds like that. That is a gift. :)

Now for DWTS! WHOOOO-HOOOOOO!!!!!! I am so glad that Apollo and Julliane won!!! They are such a cute couple...I read that her engagement has been postponed. Engaged at 18??? How can you know what you want at that age? I would LOVE to see this year's tour. :) :) :)

I wasn't too crazy about Jordin's first choice of song, but I liked her other two. I think Blake has a really nice voice. I know he doesn't usually sing those sappy songs, I think he could've done a lot better. He seemed to get lost a little bit during the song. :confused3

You already know I don't watch DWTS, but glad you're happy with the outcome! :thumbsup2

I agree with you. It's hard to make that decision. Did you see how intent Melinda was watching Jordin sing the last song? She looked like "that should be me"!! I was right in my winner of DWTS. My mom called while I was watching the last 20min and I told her not tosay anything but of course she blew it. Oh well.

Darn it, the swabbies got another one. Should've gone in late. Has anyone noticed the Girls blog on the wb looks different and no report from today? Did they give it up or something?

My kids noticed Melinda's "look" right away. They said pretty much exactly what you are saying.

As for the blog...I've been keeping up too. I didn't check yet today.

Pie, did someone mention pie, I like pie, almost as much as :cake:

I like pie!

Could you make my Key Lime Pie???

I like key lime pie!
...and no umbrella :guilty:

Must have an umbrella in me fruity foo foo drink, savvy?

I hate anything that hits me in the face when I'm trying to drink my foo foo drinks. The bartenders always laugh at me when I say "Hold the fruit!" I love it when they get to know me & my bahama mamas automatically show up sans fruit.
