I'm heading off to bed as well, I've had a very bad day and have been in extreme pain. I've had to resort back to taking pain pills for these knees of mine. I'm "hoping" for a better day tomorrow. Hazel had to stop and get me another jar of Mineral Ice this evening.

So sorry to hear, but look at the bright side, the weather has been decent, you didn't get flooded out, and the blender is ok....

IKWYM!!! I've been away for quite a few myself! Things here are well. Can't believe DD makes her first communion in just a few weeks. How are the STs?

That is so cool about DD's communion...are you having a party?? I have the male ST sick (again) and the female ST at work....and she's doing pretty well with tips already too! I'm thinkin' of chuckin' HR and waitressing!

That is so cool about DD's communion...are you having a party?? I have the male ST sick (again) and the female ST at work....and she's doing pretty well with tips already too! I'm thinkin' of chuckin' HR and waitressing!

IKWYM = I know what you mean... My Dad worked for IBM for decades...DH was in the Army for 21 years...acronyms are a second language for me.

Need to go put DD to bed. Late again!!! Try to win a for the wenches!!!

Hmmm....DeVry stock jumped 6.39% today! Investors love the belt-tightening of a company. http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=DV

Unfortunately, that means DW and 8 other faculty members were announced to being laid off today . She'll be onboard until June 30th, then receive 10 weeks of severance pay, so that puts us into September.

It was a great job for our DDs. Although she was full-time w/great salary, she taught evenings and Saturdays so she was home during the day for our DDs. It seemed like we were single parents at times because we'd pass in the doorway as I came home from work and she left, but we took pride in never putting the girls in daycare. Fortunately, they're 6 & 8 now, so I think the more critical time has passed and they may actually enjoy a few hours with kids their age after school should we need to do so to accomodate a new job.

I'm sure she'll find something. She's pretty marketable with 11 years teaching CIS (computer information systems) courses, some computer forensics background (I'm very careful what websites I visit ) and a nearly completed PhD. She could likely find something working with a company versus teaching that pays much more than she earned teaching, but she just loves teaching and the flexible schedule. Her PhD is focused in Distance Learning (Online College Courses), which it's ironic because they cited the increase number of students doing online courses as a reason to let her go.

Thanks again everyone...I think we've now moved into Acceptance...What's the next step?

Oh Crud Joel...I'm sorry for you guys....losing a job stinks...but I must say you seems to be handling it all well....great attitude! I am sure your wife with land an awesome job...you guys certainly have excellent educations behind you! Best wishes for a short (or no) period of unemployment and then the serverance can pay for the TOAL and DeVry can shove.......well you get it!

I have two more treatments Lorri, but my nose is still pretty purple, so maybe I'll need more. I really hope not, not only because they hurt, but because they cost $300 each and are NOT covered by insurance. Having a purple nose isn't medical...it's cosmetic....have you ever??

That stinks. But at least it wasn't pack up and get out. Gives chance to put affairs in order and find job while still getting $

Actually, I'm sitting here in my chair with tears streaming down my face as Hazel is fixing me something for lunch. The pain is just as bad as yesterday, if not more. I don't know how much more of this I can take. I'm seriously thinking of looking into signing up for Disability Pension, if I can't get a total knee replacement done. Of course, that knocks out all plans for a TOAL for us, but I need to do something, I can't live like this anymore. Sorry to be a downer folks, but I could use everyone's positive thoughts right now.

Andy I'm so very sorry you are in so much pain. I hope you can get some relief soon. Lots of prayers and heading your way my friend!!
