Used to have quite a few, but most of the SATCOM guys left or were sold off. I still have a few colleagues out there in Networks.

I guess that would be first counsins, once removed ;)

I would have liked to transfer there but recall DW saying something about sn*wballs, hell, her foot and my add... :rolleyes1 That and she's declared she's as far west as she intends to be

Hello Everyone! I feel like I have been gone forever. It has been so crazy since we got back from vacation and then trying to get everything ready for Thunder over Louisville. If any of you are interested this is a video clip of some Thunder highlights.

We had a beautiful day and there were over 800,000 on the river. I feel like we waited on every one of them! Derby is now less than 2 weeks away!

Belated birthdays to all I missed.:)

Paula, that was a cool video of the fireworks..............:thumbsup2

Maybe this is too over simple, but don't they have more than one door on buildings in Alaska?

But then again, your local hockey team does play in the East Coast Hockey League....

:rotfl:

That is why the league officially changed it's name to ECHL. Las Vegas & Bakersfield are also in the league.
GO ACES! Defending Kelley Cup Champions.

Yes, the building had more than one door, but the moose was between me and my car no matter what door I used to exit the building. I had my hockey stick with me, but I don't think it would have done much damage to a moose. My slap shot sucks.

Yikes, Saturday I was leaving home and there was a HUGE moose running down the hill on the side of the road about a mile from my house. That isn't unusual, but I wasn't thrilled that I had ridden by that exact location on my bike about an hour before. I may need to consider wearing umm... astronaut gear on my bike rides!

If roughly 15% of the population go commando on a regular basis and an additional 5% on an infrequent basis...how many DISers does that mean---nevermind, TMI :teeth:

57% of statistics cited are made up on the spot.

My office has these really big windows and outside there are several beautiful trees with large pink blooms. There is a soft breeze blowing and the sky is a Carolina Blue ......

WOW! That sounds nice Brack.
It is sunny and mid-50's here.

Homeless update: We turned down the VA house. I really think we are going to like southern MD better. The only down side is that this will limit my job hunt. Then again, it doesn't get to be about my career for another six years. Our deal has always been that when DH retires we are going to wherever I get the best job offer...and I'm going to change my mind every three years.

M, good luck with your home search. I can't imagine the frustration of relocating so often. You are probably going to miss those mooses when you are find your new home.:)

Only problem with being out near the eastern shore is that the Tornados like to go across that way when we get storms....

Ever hear of Laplata....

oh yeah and it's pretty rural. You'll end up shopping up in VA and the city anyway.

The bridge you were talking about is the Woodrow Wilson and yes it's a work is progress....

Even before construction that bridge was a nightmare for commuters....

Disney Cruise Line Signs Contract with Meyer Werft To Build Two New Ships
New ships will more than double passenger capacity

CELEBRATION, Fla. (April 23, 2007) -- Disney Cruise Line announced today that it has finalized a contract with Meyer Werft shipyard to build two new ships.

Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin and Bernard Meyer, managing partner of Meyer Werft shipyard of Papenburg, Germany, signed the contract in front of several hundred cheering cast members at a Disney Cruise Line cast gathering this morning.

"This is an exciting time at Disney Cruise Line, and we are looking forward to working with Meyer Werft to build two new innovative ships that will take our immersive family-focused cruise experience to an entirely new level," McAlpin said.

Plans to add two 124,000-ton ships to the fleet were announced in February when executives signed a letter of intent to negotiate a construction contract with Meyer Werft.

Scheduled to launch in 2011 and 2012, the ships will more than double the passenger capacity for Disney Cruise Line to meet the sustained demand for Disney's family cruise vacations.

The new ocean liners will be significantly larger than the existing 83,000-ton ships, the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder with 1,250 staterooms each. Both ships will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

Disney Cruise Line established the family market within the cruise industry when the business launched in 1998. The first two ships were purpose built for families to reconnect and recharge while creating vacation memories that will last a lifetime. From a theater featuring live musical spectaculars to a luxurious spa for adults and nearly an entire deck dedicated to children's activities, the ships truly offer something for everyone.

Similar to the original Disney Cruise Line ships, the new ships will be modern interpretations of classic ocean liners of the 1930s. Disney Imagineers drew their inspiration from the original trans-Atlantic ships that featured a dramatic black hull with two funnels and porthole windows. The profile of the ships, with gentle curves at the stern combined with sleek angles at the bow, is reminiscent of the art deco designs of the era. To add whimsy to the classic design, the Disney ships feature the same exterior colors as Mickey Mouse, with a black, white, red and yellow palette. The new ships will feature elegant, detailed Disney scrollwork at the bow and evoke images of the glamour of the golden age of cruising.

New itineraries

Disney Cruise Line, which traditionally offers 3-, 4- and 7-night Caribbean cruises, has enjoyed strong demand for new itineraries. Trips to the Mediterranean and to the West Coast have recently set booking records within the company.

"Expanding our fleet will give us the flexibility to offer a variety of itineraries in the future," McAlpin said. "We are looking forward to taking our guests on new adventures to different parts of the world with Disney Cruise Line."

I am sure you have had a ton of advise on where to live so I won't go there! Have you tried rentclicks to look for a home? We found our house thru them and they seem to have a lot of beautiful homes. Some other things for you ... In Delaware there is the U of D skating club where some of the top world skaters train. So once you are setteled in take a trip up and spend the day hanging out with some of the pro's. They have open skate on the weekends and most week nights, also you can sit and watch the training and at times they will let people skate with them. Baltimore has a wonderful inner harbor and there is a great Aquarium. Also the National Zoo is awesome, it is one of the few places in the United States to see the Panda's that they don't push you out in 5 minutes! I know your under a lot of strees with the move itself but once you are setteled in there is a ton of stuff to do in that area! Also remember that since you are renting if you hate your area you can always move after a year... A total pain I know but there is no worry on selling the house! I think thats it for now! I should be unpacking some of my 250 plus boxes. We seem to be throwing a lot of stuff out but somewhere it is creeping back in!!

Good Luck!!!

Is a slap shot to a moose cruelty to animals, hunting out of season or just plain sportsmanship? :teeth: And are moose really that
dangerous to anyone other than ex-Pottsylvanian spies?

"Going commando appears to be an increasingly popular practice. A 2004 study of 7,000 people by the New York-based clothier Freshpair revealed that 9% of men and 7% of women go commando day-to-day. Those who do so semiregularly are much more numerous, possibly around 25-30%, and most people have tried it at some point."

But if you change your mind and want to move, unless you get an offer that includes relocation you have to foot the bill not Uncle Sam!

She's been here for quite a while, one of those many many lurkers adding to the pageview count ;)

Now be honest with these people we are going to be living with them for 15 days.... You had me locked down in the basement chained to the floor until I got some stuff unpacked! But I broke loose!

Yep I am as far west as I am going. No offence to those in the west but it just isn't for me! We moved some 130 miles East on our last move at that rate and the fact that there seems to be a transfer ever two years I will make it back to the East coast by the time DS is 20. You know its bad when I was looking forward to moving to Hotlanta!! Besides something DH doesn't want to admit is that he loved Delaware and loved the fact that there was no sales tax on anything!

So since DH is now playing weather man.. I thought I would let ya'll know that we have had two TV breaks for weather, you know that anoying beep! I am so used to them being tests that when I hear someone speaking it got me worried. They are calling for hail, high winds and tornado warnings. Telling us to make sure all live stock is moved in, to get all potential debris indoors and to make sure to keep away from the windows, in that order! What fun! Now if I could figure out how to turn the sprinklers off so I don't drown the yard! They don't seem to tell you that info when they broke in!
I am going to try my best to not bring this crappy weather with me when I come home next week!!

I've been to the rink U of D. I've been to rinks all over the freaking country! We used to joke about traveling the country to see nothing but the inside of a hotel and a few rinks. Actually, I am really excited about stopping in your part of the world on our trip across. Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs is the only figure skating Olympic Training Center where I have not been on the ice. I've wanted to skate there since I was about 10. (The other OTCs are Lake Placid, NY and Lake Arrowhead, CA).

The culture and museums and zoos will be great. Once we get over the sheer number of people and the whole house situation. I really want to find an area that we like. I don't want to move the kids to another school any more than we have to.

Thanks for the tip on the rental site. I haven't tried there.

Only problem with being out near the eastern shore is that the Tornados like to go across that way when we get storms....

Rural is good.
Commuting nightmare is bad!

I hate shopping. I shop for clothes 2x a year (if that) so as long as there is a Target I'm good to go!

This is my triathalon.

First we start with a bleary eyed stroll to the coffee pot, carefully navigating (a) the clothes on the floor that need to go in the hamper, (b) the yoga ball that is in the middle of the bedroom floor left over from DD playing with it last night, (c) DD's backpack, for some reason in the middle of the hall landing, (d) the stairs, remembering there is a turn in the middle, (e) the kitchen island and the stepstool that is supposed to be under it, but is instead right next to the cabinet where the coffee is kept.

Then, while the coffee is percolating, reverse direction, avoiding again said obstacles, which may now include a small five-year-old who has heard the noise of her father banging his toe into her backpack and has come out to say 'good morning, father' and 'oh, there's my backpack'. After sending said daughter back to her room to get ready for school, head for the bathroom, remembering too late the door is shut and after, bouncing off it, proceed inside, fumble for the shower nozzle, get soaked with cold water because the shower head is pointing at the shower door, curse at spouse, and take shower.

When completed, find clothes you forgotten to set out the night before, tiptoe to dresser to find a pair of socks that match, give up, since no one will see your feet anyway, get dressed, collect DD5 and explain to her she cannot wear a t-shirt and shorts to Christian school, re-dress DD5, pickup her backpack, go back downstairs, find coffeepot, pour coffee onto countertop, then find a cup and pour rest of coffee into cup. Drink.

Wake up.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

HAPPY MONDAY!!!!

they are saying over on the DCL topics forum that DCL has banned door signs and magnets!!!!:sad1: There goes all my gift ideas for all you guys!!! Good thing there's plenty of time to rethink!!!

WebmasterRegina has a call/email into Disney to see how this will effect fish extenders!!!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

ok our office has now hit a new thermostat record....

It's now 83 degrees..... :firefight

 I'm dying and have no more clothes left to take off...

(i'm wearing pants and a thin sleeveless shirt)

Oh course it's 83 degrees outside too and our high is supposed to be 86...

Let's go 86...

There has to be some type of OSHA code management is violating.....

PS.. edited to mention that it will be another 2-3 weeks before the a/c is installed in the building....

It was 90 in my office today - we have A/C but it hasn't been turned on yet...today I was ready.

Well, then it sounds like you STILL DO have clothes that can be taken off. I bet if everyone was working in their underwear (which BTW, you do not mention, so you might be going commando?), the A/C install would go faster.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Welcome! Glad to see another Midwesterner on board. Since you are not too far from Chicago, maybe you can join us at our minnie-meet this summer (if we get around to doing one).

If it's at a time that I can attend, that would be great!
