Andrew... Thanks for the thought provoking images - I'll have ta try and get through on the Dr Who site again - to see if the flash player is working while crashing me again or not...

 Good Morning TGIF "Eve"

I'm so looking forward to Friday getting here, as you can tell by the morning welcome above..............:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Andy, great news about your retirement!
And I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to trivialize your problem with the prescriptions.

Hey, no problem Stacey, it's just been a bad week and I needed to do a little venting, that's all..............;)

Hazel also received a call from one of her docs yesterday and he wants her to come in and see him about one of the tests results that came back in the other day. Seems blood was found in her stool sample she had taken just before we left for vacation. He doesn't think it is anything serious, but the unkown is always a bit scary. She sees the doc on April 25th.

Have you guys been to the CA Science Center to the Star Wars exhibit? We're taking DD on Friday. Wondering if it's worth the trek to LA. :chewy:

320px-AnakinSkywalker.jpg

It just so happens we went there last sunday (2nd sunday back). We had preferential passes to cut to the front of the entry line - got them for free by attending a Bose factory store demo - and when we got there at 11AM on Sunday the line looked tolerable - so we didn't use the passes. There was no attendant on hand to direct us anyways - so we just got in the regular line - which was short. ANd it still took us over 30 minutes to get in. After we got in - the line seemed to grow twice as long - and the INSIDE exhibit lines grew twice to triple long in the hour after entry. Then - as we were leaving 2.5 hours later there were NO lines outside = and the pack of people seemed to crush into the vendor area at the end of the exhibit.

I would say - you're hit or miss to come in later in the day.... or first thing in the day on a Sunday would be a good decision. However, I can see how a 40 yard line could take 2+ hours to get in... and the exhibit is not that large - but it has many items of interest to a fan like myself and my older daughter.

We parked on the street as a space was RIGHT THERE across the street from the exhibit. We were a little cautious as we are well aware of the reputation USC has for lack of safety off campus. In fact - the older brother of a freind who attended USC was SHOT in a school parking lot - on campus. And OFF campus it is suposed to be worse. PLUS, one of my good friends had his car broken into after an SC/UCLA game and several 1000 in camera equipment was stolen.

So we were paranoid with where we parked - but we saved $6! Wooo Hooo! :surfweb: If we had more time before your visit I would send you my unused priority admission passes plus I have 4 Falcon ride passes. I you buy a "membership" to the museum then you get priority passes too... but most of the museum is free anyway - so why pay as a member? The next time we go we're gonna buy IMAX/ride passes and we will explore the rest of the exhibits.

If you've been to the exploratorium in SF - this one is similar but with fewer exhibits - and a lot more open floor area to handle LARGE volumes of people. We've been to the childrens' museums in Boston and New Orleans... and I'd say the USC facility is the largest by some standards - but the best that we've experienced is the Boston one. Of course, we're about to get a brand new Childrens' Museum in LA ... but it's still under construction.

WTH?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

The friggin' weathergoon was just on TV and they are forecasting potential BLIZZARD conditions starting tomorrow night!!!! :scared1: They are calling for 9"-18" of SNOW but since we live right next to the Palmer Divide we'll get the worst of the fronts from the north and south!:sad2:

Well, at least I'll get the day off ;)

Yea, Welcome to Spring 2007..................:rolleyes1

Okay, since it seems like some of us (many of us) are disgruntled employees currently, how's about a funny work email I received:

I'm in HR? How about YOU??

Job Placement Aptitude Test

1. Put 400 bricks in a closed room.

2. Put your new hires in the room and close the door.

3. Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours.

4. Then analyze the situation:

If they are counting the bricks, put them in the Accounting Department.

If they are recounting them, put them in Auditing.

If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, put them in Engineering.

If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, put them in Planning.

If they are throwing the bricks at each other, put them in Operations.

If they are sleeping, put them in Security.

If they have broken the bricks into pieces, put them in Information Technology.

If they are sitting idle, put them in Human Resources.

If they say they have tried different combinations, they are looking for more, and yet not a brick has been moved, put them in Sales.

If they have already left for the day, put them in Marketing.

If they are staring out of the window, put them in Strategic Planning.

If they are talking to each other, and not a single brick has been moved, congratulate them and put them in Top Management.

5. Finally, if they have surrounded themselves with bricks in such a way that they can be neither seen nor heard from, put them in Congress.

That's GRREEAAATTT!

Ok, here's a "Small World" story....

A few years ago, my mom passed from cancer, and the brothers and I and my dad were of course overwhelmed with her care. The hospital had sent in a hospice nurse during the last few weeks of her care. It turned out that the nurse was my cousin, a cousin I never met or even knew about as she was given up for adoption at birth and my aunt (her mom) was not close to the family any longer. So, it was just a shock to meet during this really bad time...

Then, after my mom passed, we were talking about something, not even sure what anymore but the name of a guy I used to hang around with came up in a conversation.

My cousin was present and said, "yeah, I know him...he used to work with my dad".
"Oh, where" I said.
She says, "at the steel plant". This intrigued me, because thats where I got to know this guy we were talking about - I used to work there....
"So, who's you dad?"
"Jim. Jim Keiser", she says.
"Wo! When I worked there, I used to hang around at Jim's house at lunch and play with his Great Danes..." This guy, Jim, was her adopted dad...

To sum it up, I used to hang around HER house and I didn't even know who she was until 20 years later!

And during this hard time I was introduced to a new aunt...my mom had a sister I never knew about. She only lived 2-3 miles away.....it was great meeting her because she reminded me soooo much of my mom, right down to her sense of weird humor, even her laugh...it was my moms.

Hows that? We don't have skeletons in our closet, we have whole bodies! :rolleyes1

Extaordinary!

very VERY Funny.... I will be showing my spouse this one in the morning!
Thanks!

Management v. Engineering

A man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost.

He reduced altitude and spotted a woman below. He descended a bit more and shouted,

“Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am.”

The woman below replied, “You are in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You are between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude.”

“You must be an engineer,” said the balloonist.

“I am,” replied the woman, How did you know?”

“Well,” answered the balloonist, “everything you told me is, technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I am still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help so far.”

The woman below responded, “You must be in Management.”

“I am,” replied the balloonist, “but how did you know?”

“Well,” said the woman, "you don't know where you are or where you are going. You have risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and you expect people beneath you to solve your problems. The fact is you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now, somehow, it's my fault”.

I have an aversion to things like this...

... I know it does not make sense - but I sometimes think I would simply rather NOT know if I had an "issue". OK... I know it's far better to know - and know NOW if there is something amiss.

At any rate... I hope nothing serious comes of this developement.

Thanks Tom, the doc thinks it might have something to do with the IBS, but he wants to see her just to make sure!!!

what the heck is a pork roll? doesn't sound appealing :confused3

Somehow I knew that question would be asked.

Pork Roll is course ground ham/pork (everything but the oink) that are formed into a tube. It's sliced and typically fried and severed with fried egg, cheese and ketchup on a hard roll. The brand most of grew up on is Taylor Ham made in beautiful Trenton, NJ. Heart attack on a plate, yup, but it is so good.

I didn't know what pork roll was either, and from the way Theresa made it sound, I thought it might be like a pizza roll only filled with pork. Maybe because I make pork potstickers that are to die for if I do say so myself. Anyhow since I love googling so much here is what I found:
However, a message board posting in 2004 showed that Taylor ham had been located at a supermarket in Valdosta, Georgia. There are also marketers selling pork roll on the Internet and shipping it around the United States.

Pork_Roll.jpg

hmmmmm....Valdosta, GA. I have no idea how it made it's way South GA......;) ;) ;)
