How cold was the room? I have never had this problem even going from inside my house to snow outside. Even at the Grand Canyon in subzero weather my camera did fine from the warm car to the outside.

Your problem appears to be the reverse. I would say to try and 'warm" the camera up before going out. Maybe wrap it in a blanket or keep it stored in a warmer area.

We had the same problem... I was wondering if anyone has a hard drive camcorder? That is what we are looking at right now.

I'm not really one fer much of the rapid fire "shots"... especially of the alcohol variety... so I may NOT be able to take up your challenge on the ship. HOWEVER... Um, my sentiments exactly. I have a feeling I'm going to feel like the village idiot amongst these people and up until now I really thought I was quite intelligent! I'm forgetting so much nowadays...

HELP! When I try to scroll down the page, the page jumps all over!!

I hate when that happens! It usually means all the pictures and/or large graphics (ahem, crash is usually the culprit! LOL) are still loading and there I am scrolling and reading and it keeps skipping back up to the top! One of these days I'm going to end up slapping my monitor, even though it's totally not it's fault. LOL

OMG!!! earlier we were laughing at the reaction to us all showing up for breakfast in jammies .... can you imagine 100's of us lurking around the ship and spying into possible hiding places - imagine the paranoia we can inspire!!!

The 3 of us will have at least 4 cameras (3 stills and a DVD camcorder) so that's going to be a lot of images & video. I was debating on whether to bring DW's new 17" laptop (with the Lightscibe DVD burner) to pull the photos off the various chips but then I saw the Sony DVDirect drive

The nice thing about the MC3 drive is that it will take multiple sources for video and photos (camcorder, DV, digital memory chips) and burn them to DVD....no computer required!

I am SO going to buy one of these! As long as it doesn't cost too much, which it probably does. *sigh* But I really need one of these!

I'm on a mission - at our convention (which is in 10 weeks) we are having a Cinderella Masquarade Ball event and we are supposed to dress for the occassion, so I'm looking for appropratie wear that does not cost an arm and a leg. So far I've found 3 or 4 things that might work and now I've moved on to ebay to see what's on offer over there.

Anyway, I'll be in chat tonight - so be there or be square!

I am looking into the new generation Sonys that are coming out in a couple of weeks. Heard mixed reviews on picture quality for the first generation ones and the JVCs did not get good ratings at all. Will definately be getting a HD camcorder, just can't decide on which one.
