This is day 9 of my DW's 10 day road trip. :woohoo:

She called from her mom's last night and in the conversation she said: "The house is going to be clean .... right?" What's up with that? She knows the answer .... I'm a swabbie! The DISDog and I have been male bonding for the whole time.
:lmao:

ps: of course it's going to be clean!

I will share an email I rec'd. i don't know if it is a current story or not.

If you read the front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle,
you would have read about a female humpback whale
who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps
and lines.

She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused
her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of
line wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line
tugging in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farralone Islands
(outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help.

Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was
so badly off that the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her
...

a very dangerous proposition.

One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.

They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her.

When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous
circles.
She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them,
pushed gently around-she thanked them. Some said it was the most incredibly
beautiful experience of their lives.

The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was
following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

May you, and all those you love,
be so blessed and fortunate ...
to be surrounded by people
who will help you get untangled
from the things that are binding you.

And, may you always know the joy
of giving, and receiving gratitude.

I pass this on to you, my friend, in the same spirit.

What a beautiful story!....I looked it up and it's from Dec. 2005!

Thanks but wait until you meet my DW .... she is the real nice one!

I do have to say though that JoJo is the really nice one. It's a shame that most of you will not get to meet him. Although he has been known to show up at a DISBoard mini-meet!

1) What did you think this threads' "Topic" was anyway?
I didn't think there was a more specific topic besides "cruise meet". Ya know, like getting to know each other, even if through incessant, incoherent blabbing!

2) Do we really NEED a topic (yes or no answers are strictly forbidden!!!) <chuckles>
Topic...we don't need no stinkin' topic!

3) How many siblings do you have?
I have a brother who is 1 year older than I.

4) What are your top 2 hobbies / interests?
Travelling and photography.

5) What is the first "favorite thing" about DCL that comes to mind when asked ... what do you like most about sailing DCL?
Most....that's tough. I'd have to say the friendliness of the crew on board as well as most of the passengers.

6) Same spontaneous type answer as #5 above to this query: What do you like about the DIS forum? Be candid on initial thoughts, please. No trite - well conceived replies...
I like the openness and honesty from the majority of the folks that post on this thread.

7) What was YOUR first job that paid $ that was not from your parents or a relative?
I got 'working' papers when I was 15 and got a job as a cashier at Mandees. Made a whopping $3.35 an hour!

Questions I need answers to include things like:

How many shirts do you plan on ordering? 6 Shirts - 3 for each ...2 adults, 1 child

When would you like to order them? (Now, Christmas, Just in Time)Anytime

Is it more important that you have them at a certain time, or get the best price? Best price and quality for sure!

Is eBay / PayPal a problem for you? Neither is a problem. I have a sellers account if it helps.

Do you prefer 1-sided or 2-sided shirts? Or do you care? I can be flexible either way

Which is more important, the number of sides or price? Price

Do you want a door magnet? How many? Yep!!! 2 magnets

Are you interested in other stuff? What? YES!!!...coffee mug. Also, how about stickers or something like them to place on a scrapbbook cover for the TOAL???

Happy St. Patricks's Day!
Erin Go Bragh!

Happy Birthday Autumn & Madeline

Good morning from the frozen and snowbound Hudson Valley!

OK I've started cleaning and the first thing is this computer desk! I've got more junk in here; including old programs and backups. I may even shut the computer down and reset it up. I bought some new USB hubs to spread the load around. This is a good time. :surfweb:

I'll check in later.
:thumbsup2

I bet I'm behind on these news stories, but just in case:

Applause, Applause! ‘Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic’
And New Sail-Away Party ‘Wow’ Guests On Disney Magic and Disney Wonder

CELEBRATION, Fla. -- Snow falls in Walt Disney Theatre. Lasers generate sparkling pixie-dust trails. New Disney character performers take a bow. And the deck-party fun ramps up several notches. It's part of a flurry of onboard fun that will debut this spring on both Disney Cruise Line ships.

One of the most popular, long-running shows on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, "Disney Dreams," will display new dazzle as "Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic" with elaborately enhanced special effects, animation and new scenic elements. As a bonus, two beloved character cast members -- Timon and Pumbaa of Disney's classic film "The Lion King" -- make their first-ever appearance on a Disney Cruise Line ship. The revitalized show will debut on the Disney Wonder March 21, 2007, and will be unveiled on the Disney Magic just in time for the ship's inaugural season in the Mediterranean this May.

At the opulent Walt Disney Theatre, the enhanced "Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic," tells the story of a young girl who learns about the power of dreams. New laser effects allow Tinkerbell to "sprinkle" the theater with sparkling pixie-dust trails, and fresh animated video footage brings the show to life like never before. During a scene from the classic film "Beauty and the Beast," "snow" literally falls upon the audience. When Cinderella takes the stage, special pyrotechnic effects add glitter to her sartorial transformation from rags to ball gown. And Timon and Pumbaa appear for a musical medley of "I Just Can't Wait to be King" and "Hakuna Matata" from "The Lion King."

Additional musical numbers during the 55-minute performance include: "You Can Fly!" "A Whole New World," "Prince Ali," "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes," "So This Is Love," "Part of Your World," "Under the Sea" and "Beauty and the Beast." (Featured on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder)

"We're committed to refreshing onboard entertainment and adding new theatrical surprises for our guests," says Jim Urry, director of entertainment for Disney Cruise Line. "Fans of our original 'Disney Dreams' show will be blown away by the enhancements."

Also beginning this summer, guests on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will find a greatly enhanced Sail-Away Party, featuring new music, interactive dances and appearances by the world-famous Disney characters on the upper decks. Taking full advantage of the Ariel Vision jumbo screens recently added to both ships, new visual elements are planned for the show and guests attending the party may find themselves dancing on the "big screen." The party culminates with the sounding of the signature Disney Cruise Line "When You Wish Upon a Star" horn, signaling the official start of the ultimate cruise vacation.

Water, Water - Everywhere! Disney Cruise Line Now Offers H2O Plus Spa Products in All Staterooms

Disney Cruise Line guests soon will be able to absorb the enriching benefits of the ocean while sailing on the high seas. Beginning in early October, the cruise line is introducing H2O Plus Spa bath and shower products derived from marine botanicals, bringing a piece of the ocean into every stateroom as part of an upgrade to all 877 guest accommodations on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

Celebration, FL, March 17, 2007 --(PR.COM)-- The high-quality, water-based H2O Plus products being stocked on the Disney Cruise Line ships include Sea Marine Revitalizing Shampoo, Marine Collagen Conditioner and Hydrating Body Butter from the H2O Plus premium Spa line – all in uniquely designed, co-branded bottles. Guests staying in concierge-level suites will find additional H20 Plus offerings such as Sea Salt Body Wash and Solar Relief Gel.

The upgrade of every family-friendly stateroom onboard both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder also features new Sealy Posturepedic Premium Plush Euro-top mattresses, new pillows and Frette 300 thread-count, 100 percent Egyptian cotton linens. In addition, larger, more luxurious bath towels and bath sheets have been added to all stateroom bathrooms.

In all concierge-level suites, there are comfortable duvets and a new “Pillow Talk” program which allows concierge guests to choose from a selection of hypo-allergenic, feather and therapeutic memory foam pillow options.

Sea-derived skincare innovator H2O Plus, L.P. has been making a splash in the specialty global retail market with an array of skincare, spa, bath and shower and color cosmetics products for the last 16 years. The company’s entrepreneurial founder and creative director, Cindy Melk, has grown H2O Plus from a concept of water-based, sea-derived formulations to an internationally recognized branded company.

Oh yeah, and I heard that Disney is offering a Panama Repositioning Cruise in 2008 and building two more ships.:lmao:

Lorri if you read this I need to get ahold of you and am unable to PM you......please pm me or email me........Thanks, ;)

I am really getting tired of all of the OFF-TOPIC stuff on this link--can't we JUST HAVE a cruise thread???? and now the flames will start! well, i have on my fireproof shorts! i am just so tired of all of the non-essential stuff on here! can we move it to another link and just have this be cruise related, Please?
thanks for the consideration!:rolleyes1

I sometimes share your frustration. Sometime times I'm in the mood to chat. And sometimes I just want to get down to business. My mood is generally directly related to the amount of time I have to spend here. :)

I think there is an easy solution to this problem.

If we could all agree to mark the title of any posting we do that contains cruise stuff (or business) with the triangle ! post icon (see the bottom of your reply window) then it will be easy for those who just want to get down to business to find the important bits as they skim through.

This also takes some of the pressure off Lisa to find and post all the important bits to our summary. Or it at least makes it easier for her to find them...

Later after I reawaken from my slumber - I'll post my replies to these wandering "off topic" styled queries...

1 - meeting other cruisers, making plans for group activities

2 - If the 'topic' matches my answer from #1, then yes

3 - 2 brothers, 1 sister, I'm the baby

4 - Travel - from the planning to the doing, love all of it. Cooking - I used to hate to cook until I actually learned how. Now I love making different creations. And got the highest compliment of all when my culinary trained brother told me that I'm a great cook.

5 - haven't sailed DCL yet, so I can only answer what my anticipated favorite thing is, and that would be the Disney service. I've been on several other cruises and really enjoy the cruise experience and have generally gotten great service. But I've been told that the Disney service goes beyond that of other lines.

6 - Love the DIS because I have found so many other people that 'get' why I will drive 7 hours each way just for a day at DL. Or why I go all the way across the country every year for a WDW vacation.

7 - I worked at a local reservoir at the entrance gate. The park had hiking trails, picnic areas, a playground, a boat launch, fishing, and a snack bar. The company running it was called "That Damn Company" and I used to get my "Damn" paycheck :rotfl: . I'll actually be going to that park today. My church is having a fishing day there.

Oh Todd I'm sorry that happened to your son :scared1:

Did you say the lifeguard used vinegar??? I didn't know that was a treatment for jellyfish stings.

Well there is that OTHER TREATMENT that I learned about on friends........:scared1:

I had just read in an article to rinse it with sea water first, then vinegar, and then to apply cortisone cream. They say it works like a charm. Not about to use "that other method"!
So I'll be picking up a small bottle of vinegar when we arrive in Turks and Caicos. Plus the vinegar helps make a sunburn feel better.

:lmao: Okay that's a new name...

Yeah, I kinda like SHELLEYBIPBOP. I definitely like BipBop better than just Bip.

And I'm sorry someone put salt in your :cake: . Maybe there's a bright side...I know if everything tasted yucky to me, maybe I'd lose weight!

DH and I are both divers. He's been stung a few times. The 'other' treatment is for when nothing else is available. Either vinegar or ammonia do the trick. When DD was stung at CC, the lifeguard tried vinegar. It did nothing. She was stung just above her wrist and the swelling started to spread in both directions. We then went to First Aid and he used the ammonia, followed by the cortisone cream. Within a few minutes the swelling started to go down and DD didn't complain about the pain anymore. Benadryl also helps if there is an allergic reaction. There is an over the counter treatment, Sting Away. It's all natural, no alcohol. We carry it in our dive bag and fortunately have not had to use it personally. Those who have used it are quite pleased!!!
