Am I going to get points for this???

EVE'S SIDE OF THE STORY

After three weeks in the Garden of Eden, God came to visit Eve. 'So, how is everything going?' inquired God.

'It is all so beautiful, God,' she replied. 'The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking, the smells, the sights, everything is wonderful, but I have just one problem...

'It's these breasts you have given me. The middle one pushes the other two out and I am constantly knocking them with my arms, catching them on branches and snagging them on bushes. They're a real pain,' reported Eve.

And Eve went on to tell God that since many other parts of her body came in pairs, such as her limbs, eyes, ears, etc.......... she felt that having only two breasts might leave her body more 'symmetrically balanced.'

'That's a fair point,' replied God, 'But it was my first shot at this, you know. I gave the animals six breasts, so I figured that you needed only half of those, but I see that you are right. I will fix it up right away.'

And God reached down, removed the middle breast and tossed it into the bushes.

Three weeks passed and God once again visited Eve in the Garden of Eden.

'Well, Eve, how is my favorite creation?'

'Just fantastic,' she replied, 'But for one oversight. You see, all the animals are paired off. The ewe has a ram and the cow has her bull. All the animals have a mate except me. I feel so alone.'

God thought for a moment and said, 'You know, Eve, you are right. How could I have overlooked this. You do need a mate and I will immediately create a man from a part of you. Lets see........... where did I put the useless b**b?'

Now doesn't THAT make more sense than that stuff about the rib?

This is my first attempt so hope it goes through. DH and I will be on the TOAL.

I need to vent: (caution, long story ahead----airline problems)

My DS15 was going to a camp for our church called EFY today...it's about 5 days. We bought the tickets a long time ago for a pretty good fare. He was going with 2 other boys that were 14. It is only about an hour flight away, and he/they would be picked up personally by a towncar service to shuttle them to the location, so we were ok letting them fly by themselves.

We get a notice from Alaskan airlines saying that our flight was now operated through Delta, but nothing else changed...ok no problem. Well one of the moms got nervous about the unaccompanied minor policy since Delta's was different than Alaskan. Alaska makes it optional to fly by themselves 13-17 years old. where Delta's they had to be 15. Even this age limit at Delta was just changed a few weeks ago.
We had no notices about it from either airline, which I totally did not expect, but since she was nervous last night, we decided to all call Delta to be sure. Did not want any last minute surprises ya know? :rotfl:

The representative through Delta said that it was an Alaskan flight, and was only using the gate at Delta...all policies and terms and conditions were through Alaska, so we were ok. I relayed this to the other moms and we were feeling good.
Fast forward to this morning, I get a call from one of the moms saying the 14 years olds were not allowed on without the extra fare and other guidelines because it is not an ALASKAN flight, but a DELTA flight like we were worried about all along. They were able to refund their tickets, but now we had to drop everything and drive them to Salt Lake City (about a 5 hour drive), so now we had the cost of getting them there (gas prices :scared1: ) and they are now major late for their events on the first day. :(

Now we would have been able to drive them there no problem and ON TIME if they only would have told us the CORRECT information LAST NIGHT!! She looked up their reservations and everything and gave me the confirmation number again. I am really tired of people who should know their product....not knowing a clue about their product. They (Delta) take over flights all the time, I would think they are used to it by now, and know whose terms and conditions it falls under. I was absolutely furious this morning since it was due to someone else's misinformation. We were told all different things from both airlines, each of them denying it was their flight.:furious: :furious: :furious:

I called and complained to a manager, and will contact them through letter, but I pretty much know how that will end up.
It has been a really rotten day. :( Thanks for letting me vent, I will be over it soon. LOL

Sorry that just stinks!

Too many boys;) Wish I had to worry about packing for 19 days:rolleyes1 ;)

WOW, what an exciting game:woohoo: If you're gonna play in 100 degree heat, it helps to win the game:cool2:
Congrats to Chris:woohoo: :thumbsup2

We've also been lucky with coaches, seen some not so nice ones over the years:rolleyes1
When Darren umpires LL he says it's the coaches that give him a hard time, not the kids. Temper tantrums and all:rolleyes:

We haven't had much luck at all. My DS's current coach benches him constantly throughout the game. He was benched 3 times the other night & we only had 2 extra kids. He's not that terrible, but even if he was, isn't this suppose to be about fun, sportsmanship, etc. :confused3

I had mentioned a few weeks ago that my ds12 is very passionate about animation/cartooning. Here is a drawing he whipped up this morning and I thought I should share it with all of the Disney fanatics I know! Sorry the quality isn't the best, I don't have a scanner, so I took a picture of it.

I think it's quite clever.....I had never thought about Peter Pan having to stop for directions....

PeterPancartoon002.jpg

Deanna he is very talented! What a great cartoon! :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for their thoughts...Doc put Richard on muscle relaxants for the back and said the reason for the work from home was that the drive with traffic is to much. We will see on Friday if he feels better for next week. he is fine..Xray will be tomorrow morning as a precaution (x-raying his back).

Richard says he feels fine except a little sore and back issues.

He got his tux tie and cumberbund when he got home - it arrived today and looks really nice! So atleast he got a gift when he got home.

Glad he got checked out & it's not too serious.

Quick - Someone say something funny.
I'm really, really grumpy. Not dwarf grumpy. Leave everything behind to live in a yurt in Alaska grumpy.

Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, but when they lit a fire in the craft it sank -- proving once and for all that you can't have your kayak and heat it, too.

Okay maybe it made you groan instead of chuckle, but I liked it!!! :bitelip: :hyper:

Thank you ..I am trying to remember that. Unfortunately, DH has to put up with my long time fears of car accidents which is why I am not longer a passenger in a vehicle (which is also why I am freaking out about our excursions on this trip) When I was 21..I was in a really bad car accident..I broke a window with my head (no..that didn't cause my craziness..it was already there :lmao: ), whiplash, tore ligaments in my back, and most of all when my head snapped back and broke the window..I recieved a blood clot in my thyroid which after two years required surgery to remove (they tried to drain it for 2 years first but a test came back cancerous so they removed it)..I also crushed my knee in the door...just a peachy all around thing. We were stopped on the freeway and a DUI woman plowed into us going 70 mph. ..no insurance of course and not even her car. Anyways...as a result..I flip out if I have to be a passenger. These excursions on this trip are actually the first ones I have taken in almost 8 years on a cruise. Outside of ones that I catch at the dock and are a boat. So if you catch me looking a little green on an excursion bus..rest assured..I am okay..just a little stressed!

Desiree, that sounds awful. Keep us informed on how your DH is doing:hug:

"Barney doesn't come on mommy's TV"
That was my standard statement when DS was little and wanted to watch Barney. He was in school, maybe 1st or 2nd grade before he knew I was just avoiding watching that show.

Also had him believing in the "music truck" until he was 6 and a friend was painting our house. The ice cream truck came by and he bought himself and DS a treat. :headache: Wonder how long I could have kept that one up?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Same here.

So, I'm home from work today because we're getting the furnace cleaned and fixed. Basically, if we ever shut the furnance off, it drips somewhere. We were planning to shut it off for the TOAL, so we wanted to have it fixed. Come to found out, it seems that we need a new boiler. :headache: :(

Off to find out more.

Cheers!

Sorry Jennifer, I hate those unplanned for murphy visits:(

This is my first attempt so hope it goes through. DH and I will be on the TOAL.

Welcome aboard:goodvibes

Good afternoon everyone. Kenny Chesney was awesome!! He always puts on such a great show. We saw Gary Allen, LeAnn Rimes, Brooks & Dune and Kenny. Steve Miller and Sammy Hagar also preformed!! It was such a fun day.

Penny

Penny, glad you enjoyed the concert! It does sound like a great show!!:goodvibes

Hey! How's it going?
We dont have passes at this time. We might be the only people on this trip without them! We have had them in the past, but have not renewed. As the kids get older, the harder it is for us to get out to Anaheim. We could still possibly arange a time to meet there, we would just buy tickets.
Glad to hear you had a good time at the beach this weekend. Next time we come out to the beach I will bring some homemade marshmellows. Made some this weekend and boy, are they good! Forget those peeps!
Janelle

Wow.....

Real gourmet marshmellows....

sounds pretty cool...!

Oops! Typo there :badpc: That's what I get for trying to get it typed before putting DS to bed! Even so, 400KB is still nasty for anyone on dial-up. I've had DSL for years, but have occasionally been stuck with dial-up when traveling so I try to be conscious of it.

I love my high speed.:cool1: :cool1: :smokin: It was all there by the time I clicked on it!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

My Dh wore one of his new pairs of swimtrunks yesterday... Small problem was that they have pockets which fill up while underwater. They do have drains but when he got out of the pool it looked like his pockets were peeing.:lmao:

Does Andy realize we are all going to watch him get out of the pool and watch his pockets pee!!!:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

I just was at our local mall(simi) and walked in to the Tux rental shop to ask about a rental They said because it was 15 days they would charge 2-3 week rental price. (100.00 x 3) I guess I will check mens wherehouse. Does mens wherehouse rent to kids? Probably not! I have one last tux shop to check before We buy one.

Here's where I just rented Kevin's from...http://www.cruiselineformal.com/
They deliver to the ship and you leave it to be picked up on the ship.

What the h*** is a "Yurt"? :confused3

yurt-by-river.gif

our_yurt.jpg

yurt9.jpg

The word yurt is originally from the Turkic word meaning "dwelling place" in the sense of "homeland"; the term came to be used in reference to the physical tent-like structures only in other languages. In Russian the structure is called "yurta" (юрта), whence the word came into English.

In Kazakh (and Uyghur) the term for the structure is kiyiz üy (киіз үй, lit. "felt home"). In Kyrgyz the term is boz üý (боз үй), literally "grey house", because of the colour of the felt. In Mongolian it is called a ger (гэр). Afghans call them "Kherga"/"Jirga" or "ooee". In Pakistan it is also known as gher (گھر).

Traditional yurts consist of a circular wooden frame carrying a felt cover. The felt is made from the wool of the flocks of sheep that accompany the pastoralists. The timber to make the external structure is not to be found on the treeless steppes, and must be traded for in the valleys below.

The frame consists of one or more lattice wall-sections, a door-frame, roof poles and a crown. Some styles of yurt have one or more columns to support the crown. The (self-supporting) wood frame is covered with pieces of felt. Depending on availability, the felt is additionally covered with canvas and/or sun-covers. The frame is held together with one or more ropes or ribbons. The structure is kept under compression by the weight of the covers, sometimes supplemented by a heavy weight hung from the center of the roof. They vary regionally, with straight or bent roof-poles, different sizes, and relative weight.

It is designed to be dismantled and the parts carried on camels or yaks to be rebuilt on another site.

It has been a really rotten day. :( Thanks for letting me vent, I will be over it soon. LOL

Michelle sorry what should have been an easy start for you all ended up so stressful. But I agree if they don't know the answer for sure---they need to double check before they give out wrong information. I would much rather they tell me that they aren't for sure and to get a call back. Hope the boys have a wonderful time at camp:goodvibes

Two men walk into a bar. Wait, that's just dumb. You would think after the first guy hit it, the other one would have ducked.

Two elephants are sitting in a bathtub. The one in front turns to the one in back and says 'pass the soap'. The one in back says 'What do you think I am, a typewriter?'

Sorry, best I can do. My brain is in old gear tonight. (I am just 2-1/2 short hours from turning 40 and I am going to stay up until I am 'one day closer to death')

...[ed]..... :( Thanks for letting me vent, I will be over it soon. LOL

Sometimes a nice LONG drive is exactly what is needed to cool ones' jets. It's a nice way to sooth the mind into a numb emptyness... (oops)... Seriously, this seems survivable if nothing else. And seriously, this could have been a complicated mess in other ways - so we should/could be thankful in some ways too, eh?

Of course, that's easy for me to say since I'm sitting cozy and not facing 10 hours of driving here,....

At any rate - may I offer supportive good cheer - of a mixed sort if nothing else... :goodvibes

Happy Birthday JR

(a few minutes early but almost your day here on the right coast)

Mickey Mouse Club graphicFor all those "do it yourself-ers" out there.* I found the graphic in a book, scanned it, cleaned up the scan a little and posted it at photobucket.* I'm just posting a link, since I scanned it as large as I could and it is over 400MB!* I don't know if any of our pirates are still using dial-up, but if they are they wouldn't appreciate waiting for that to load up :cool1: You can look at and download it from here.* If anyone has any questions, just PM or post and I'll try and answer.* There are probably others here who have done this before also who could also offer advise.* I have often found T-S**** on sale at Hobby Lobby or other crafty stores for $3 or $4.* The transfer paper can sometimes be found at Dollar stores, but even if you buy it somewhere like Target I think you can get it for around $10 for 3 sheets, so $3.33 per shirt for a grand worse case total of about $7.33 per shirt.Pamela
Thank you so,so much Pamela!** I was really wanting to get in on this one but just couldn't see how I was going to come up with another $40.00 for t-s****s.* They may not have our names on them but at least we won't feel left out!

THere isn't any reason you can't iron your names on also. Just print them using a program like Word - It would probably work best set to "Landscape" and use a nice big bold font (Like Ariel Black, Elephant, Impact, Franklin Gothic Heavy - just look at what you have and pick something like that) Don't try and cut out each letter, just free-form cut out around the word and it should work fine.
