A crane collapsed three blocks from here and the emergency response going by here is incredible. Luckily for us it happened north of the way we walk to school, so although it happened at that time we were not there. Not sure how bad it is going to be, but from what I am seeing so far it looks bad. I know that crane, and just pointed it out to the girls the other day and noted how precarious it looked.

Julie

Glad you are okay...:goodvibes

o.k on the " Ketchup " part. I have read a little here & there. Just didn't have time to post sorry.

Forgive me if I leave anything out or forget the names.

I read all the HOA stories and somebody said I hope you have thick skin. Well I don't but am well aware of what I am getting myself into only because I saw what happened at our last meeting. I will be in the hot seat all the time and my phone will be ringing non-stop. I am willing to go through that for change and yes I believe change can be made. Our community is brand new and it will be easier to make change now verses 10 years down the road.

Dressing up.......I think it's a personal choice and what's great about DCL is that you will always see a wide variety and you will always fit in. DH ( Chuck ) will wear a tux for formal & suits for semi-formal. I don't even have my dresses yet and I really am getting frustrated on trying to try any kind of shoe on.

I still can only wear my worn out flip flops. Not even sneakers. At least no real pain I am feeling but the toe is just to swelled up.

Tina a bought siver ballerina slippers.:thumbsup2 I hate heels!!!:( I wish I could wear my Nikes!!!:lmao:

Aren't you glad that JR, Cheryl and I don't live in your HOA?:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Oh the trouble we could give her!!!:scratchin :scratchin :duck: :duck: :duck:

Mary Ann we are going to have to sit you with my youngest DD. We were out to dinner last week and she ordered breakfast for dinner. We were busy talking when we heard "Ouuu this is good". She had taken a pat of butter and smeared it over her bacon. That is what I would consider fat on top of fat.

Well I am off to jury duty today. I have been on call all week, hoping to get called on one of my work days. But no my number comes up on my day off :( I will see all of you tonight.

I hope you are in a good mood for everyones sake!!!::yes::

Going to see Sex and The City shortly. I hope to be in chat tonight but noticed they are limiting hours on the post it.

Have a great day!!!:yay:

good morning all!! tgif!!! hope everyone had a great week! i have alot to catch up on. i haven't been able to read back thru much of the thread yet, but hope to catch up a bit at naptime. probably won't happen though with my luck!
i did see that people are thinking of changing excursions. the acapulco one seems to be the one i've seen mentioned lots....what else are people planning to do in acapulco?
gotta run for now...hope to be back later, but you never know!! have a great day everyone!!

That was too close for comfort!!! I am sooo glad you and your family are fine. My mulit quote missed you!!!:headache:

Laundry... Did Acapulco on the 2005 Repo Cruise.. ... no desire to even get off the ship again. It was my least favorite place to visit in all my cruises.....dirty and very very pushy vendors/cab drivers.

Yes, this is definitely too close for comfort -- when I look out our windows, there is nothing except fire tricks, police emergency response, etc., parked on our block, and all normal traffic has been diverted. I was just about to leave home after having walked the girls into school when I heard so many sirens and thought I would turn on the news to see if I could figure out what is up. I know the building hit well -- that Duane Reade drugstore is the closest one to our apartment and I often go there. I don't believe I know anyone in that building, though. At any rate, we are all fine.

just turned on the tv to check this out. its on fox news and cnn. at least one person is killed. they need to hold people responsible. crews have pull several people out from the wreakage.same crane company that had the crane collapse in mid march. now 2 people are dead

Does anyone think there will be any coverage of the Olympics while we are onboard? I know we won't get regular TV channels, but don't they sometimes have some big sporting events shown?

Hmmm....now I don't feel so bad about having, "Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead" set for the ringtone when my mother calls...

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

So you'll be joining my DS8, Deanna's husband and Mike in the Topsiders Bacon Scrum??

I'm pretty sure grown men could out do me on the bacon.... DH might disagree with me though......;)

In fact, the more I think about it, I may just wear this one again instead of getting a new one. This is the only time I wore this dress.

:thumbsup2 Great dress on you!

....and Ranch Dressing too :thumbsup2

I am the only one in my family that doesn't like Ranch dressing.... I can't stand the flavor of dill and that is all I can taste in the dressing...

I did not think about Sam Moom. My Mom loves that place.

I've only been to Sam Moon's once....but, it was so much fun! LOL! DH said that he would be more the happy to drive 17dd & myself there. :goodvibes

Then DH would die. ;) He hates people looking at him -- but, I guess if we had 20 kids he would have to get used to that! LOL! :lmao:

Oldest dd (24) always laughs when she hears me say *I only have 5 children.* She has said to me *You know most people think more then 2 is ALOT.* :rotfl:
We have started adding *And they all have the same mom and dad* Because we found out that most people thought it was a yours/mine/ours type situation.... Until they saw everyone together! :rotfl2:

FamilywithFantasiaMickey-1.jpg

I love this picture!

I get lots of comments too when I tell people I have 4 children. Your DD is right...seems a lot of people do think more than 2 children is a lot. Funny...I never thought so...there were 4 of us growing up. It's just what I'm used to, I guess. If DH and I were younger, and the 4 I do have didn't run me ragged most days, I'd have another one in a heartbeat! I'm wondering if it's any easier having their ages spread out a bit? I had my 4 in a span of about 8.5 years. Although I love them to death, it's tough trying to keep up with everyone. I keep waiting for my oldest two (10 and 8) to start getting a little bit more responsible (especially with helping out around the house), but it's just not happening! :sad2:

It has been nice to have mine so spaced out -- that's how God gave them to us...dh used to travel ALOT for work! LOL!
I had plenty of time to *train* my older 2 in helping around the house and in being a *team*. It is really important to dh & I that the kids know that we are a *family* first and then individuals! ::yes:: And it must have worked because our older 3 kids are all really close -- they get along great with the younger ones, too!

The only downside has been that our middle child (17dd) is more of a youngest -- doesn't seem to know when to do any housework without specific directions, etc.... BUT, she is a great big sister -- she tells us that she learned how to be a good big sister from her big sister! :goodvibes

I'm 1 of 4 , also! And dh has always loved how close my family is....

ITA Spinning is evil!

a necessary evil....

I am down to only one spin class a week right now due to my schedule... (But i've got other weights based or hottie salsa classes i go to on other nights)

and now my gym is closing one of their two locations in town so twice as many peeps will be trying to sign up for class every day...

UGGGGG Don't they know i need class more than they do?

I've been watching the news this morning and praying for all those affected, especially those injured and those killed. This is so sad, especially given the fact that this kind of accident happened just recently.

I'm glad that you are all right.

Hi Father!

What time are you having Super Shuttle pick you up to take you to the cruise? I did a 10:30am pick up figuring we could run off to Early Entry at DL from 7-9ish and then come back to DL hotel and get picked up. Is that going to be too late? I am excited to get on the ship, but hanging out at the Port for hours and hours with the young uns with nothing to do doesn't sound like too much fun for me. So I figured we would be there by 11:30, get checked in etc.

The only Palo we didn't get was brunch and we really can survive without that, so I don't think I HAVE to go sign up for anything. Also, sitting around waiting for the rooms to open with 7 people's STUFF isn't my favorite thing to do either.

The last cruise we were on we surprised my MIL, FIL, SIL and BIL and my husband's aunt and cousin. So we were trying to hide out on the ship without seeing them...it was very difficult with all of our bags and kids etc. So we ended up sitting in the elevator area outside of our hallway for almost an hour while we waited for the rooms to open up. That was a new experience for me. I had no idea they wouldn't be open right away, and that was our 4th cruise. I guess we aren't really the early types...Does anyone know when they usually open the rooms?

I've never dressed formal on formal nights (though may do so this time). Jacket and tie is just fine. Don't skip dinner just on that account - there are plenty of people not wearing Tuxes on DCL cruises (in fact, I think it's safe to say that the majority of people are not wearing tuxes - and that's not even including the kids).
It's not DH I'm really worried about- well, except so many people on this thread talking about tuxes maybe has me a LITTLE worried in that regard. LOL But for me I just don't have anything to wear that fits me and like I said- we're not really dress up people- and last time my feet were killing me. My feet were swollen after the first few days on the ship for some reason so then my shoes hurt like the dickens! :(

I dunno... we'll see.

I totally agree with this! This is our first time "Going All Out". Here's what we wore on our last cruise:

In fact, the more I think about it, I may just wear this one again instead of getting a new one. This is the only time I wore this dress.
I love your dress!

Same here too. Neither of us are the dressing up type- especially since I gained the weight back after I lost weight, bought a bunch of new clothes and got rid of the bigger clothes! And now I dunno- i just can't seem to find anything I like on my "body size" that I am right now. I need to get ON THE BALL on losing some weight before this cruise- time is running out for sure! :( Anyway, DH could wear a suit but doesn't own a tux. I dunno. We're thinking maybe of just skipping the dining rooms on formal nights. I know for a lot of people it's fun to dress up -but for us it's really not and besides, we don't have the money to spend on formal wear for the cruise- we're already trying to budget like crazy just to pay for everything on the cruise, DL before the cruise, etc. All we've paid for is the cruise and the flights- yanno? there is SO much more to still pay for.....

You have us on your list, right?
I'm fine with paying via paypal. :)

Yes I need to try to get my body in better shape. I am going to put my DD in a backpack and start walking. Maybe then my pre-dd dresses will fit again before the cruise. I also don't have the budget to go buy a new fancy wardrobe that I'll use this once.

DH isn't even happy that he has to 'dress' for dinner every night. Our DD(18mo during the trip) doesn't understand what food is even for. She's really good at sucking the flavor out of food and mashing it up and then pulling it out with her hands. She also has been absolutely SCREAMING during dinner if say we take a knife away from her or don't let her down to run around. She doesn't want to sit still since there is no interest in food. So she ends up in our laps while we attempt to eat. Lemme tell you meals out are very messy and we always end up with food all over us too! Hopefully our tablemates will forgive us if we have 15 days worth of food on our clothes :lmao: :lmao:

Hmmm....now I don't feel so bad about having, "Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead" set for the ringtone when my mother calls...

Need that for MIL... :rolleyes1

Hi All,
Has anyone been changing there minds about the excursions you booked?:rolleyes1

I am going to be changing everything.........mostly because of research and it does help knowing all the tips coming in from the west bound group.

Ooooh maybe we can actually book stuff then! A lot of things are sold out right now and we can't book till Monday! Is there a place (other than the TRs) where they reviewed everything?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Actually, Tubular bells always makes me think of the band Book of Love. I love this song!

http://www.last.fm/music/Book+of+Love/_/Tubular+Bells

Nice song!

I did not think about Sam Moom. My Mom loves that place.

Like maybe the Acapulco Cliff Divers and shopping? Anyone actually keeping that excursion? Overwhelming negative reviews.

We really want to go see the cliff divers. What are the negative reviews on this one? The divers or the shopping? Right now this one is sold out so I can't even try to get it on Monday when I can finally book!

Yikes! That's too close for comfort! Unfortunately there isn't enough people that are honest and too many corners are cut when no one is watching... I actually saw a crane accident a few years ago. We had been watching them and kept thinking "That doesn't look safe" and even reported them (we all were contracted to the same larger entity) and then there was an accident. After that, the larger entity stopped work on all crane and hoisting operations till they could figure something out. Somehow our drilling operations fell under that stop work order too till we could prove that drill rigs are not cranes... :confused3 :confused3

Going to see Sex and The City shortly. I hope to be in chat tonight but noticed they are limiting hours on the post it.

Have a great day!!!:yay:

Oooh let us know how Sex and The City is! I used to love the show on HBO, but expect to be disappoinited by the movie!

Does anyone think there will be any coverage of the Olympics while we are onboard? I know we won't get regular TV channels, but don't they sometimes have some big sporting events shown?

I hope so! We were so disappointed the other day when we saw an ad for it and realized we're going to miss most of it :(

I'm 1 of 4 , also! And dh has always loved how close my family is....

I am an only child, so to get revenge on my parents, I had 5! :)

My oldest 3 are 16,14 and 13, then we have a 10 and a little 3yo. I think the closer in age ones are actually easier because they all have each other (now, that is, when all 3 were under 3 and in diapers, that was a different story!) They help each other with homework and school projects and are really really close.

The 10 yo is our poor middle one. And she is a sensitive young lady, so she kind of gets the shaft. But she is maturing quite a bit this year and loves being a big sister to the little one. But, boy, does she have a TEMPER :furious: She is also my homebody. She loves to be home with us and hates sleeping over at friends etc. She is a special little girl and I can't wait to celebrate her birthday on the cruise on Cabo day. We have a private sailing charter booked for the day. They are going to decorate the sailboat for her birthday too. I really really hope we can get into port that day!!!!

Anyway, my advice with the kids is to just enjoy them, they really grow up so quickly. Take the time to treasure them while you can!

Okay, done being cheesy! Have a great day everyone, I am going to buy a dress from David's Bridal and look into tuxes for the boys, I have been motivated by everyone's discussions in the past few days!

I like bacon... specially crispy bacon!

So we always laugh... We live in a GREAT outdorsy area with lots of hiking and biking trails and very difficult ones at that. But we have a ton of workout places. I for one get so bored in a workout place...

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I've only been to Sam Moon's once....but, it was so much fun! LOL! DH said that he would be more the happy to drive 17dd & myself there. :goodvibes

Oooh, I might have to get back there while I am in Dallas. MIL, SIL and I took a day trip a couple of years ago and went to Sam Moon, IKEA and had lunch at Cheesecake Factory. Now I have IKEA and Cheesecake Factory locally, so I only have to stop at Sam Moon. Got a really cute angel bracelet there. I will have to find it for this trip. It will go with my "Princess" dress. Then all I will need is a tiara...and the room to pack all this stuff.:lmao:

I still intend to call you if I can work things out for next Thursday. Talked to SIL last night and my FIL has all kinds of things planned for DH while we are at the scrapbook retreat. We are leaving for the retreat on Friday morning and won't be back until Sunday evening.

Attention everyone -

I feel like carp today -guess its my punishment for making fun of DH getting sick on the last day of the cruise. Anyway, I am being forced to take a day of rest ( :rotfl2: ) as my throat is really raw but we shall see how that goes. After this post, I'm on my way to my mommy's house to see if she has any magic potion to calm this sandpaper throat of mine. Doc told DH that there is a very bad intestinal flue going around. Guess its better off the ship than on.

Anyway, here's the info:

PARENTS, IF YOU HAVE KIDS THAT WANT TO JOIN THE SM - PLEASE YOU - THE ADULT SEND ME A MESSAGE NOTING THIS. I JUST WANT TO BE SURE THAT YOU THE ADULTS HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS BEFORE ASSIGNING A SM TO YOUR CHILD OR YOUR CHILD TO A SM.

I have assigned just a few for the early birds but I will be cutting the deadline date by mid-June I believe. I will be working on this the next week and you'll be receiving your SM in batches. Thank you all for understanding. I have not forgotten - I wanted to see how the WB handled their SM and try
to learn from their mistakes.

END OF SM INFO.

In a bit or later this evening - I will post some pictures of what Fish Gifts we got jsut in case any of you are stumped. But I will mention this - for the larger gifts, they got together in groups and donated a nice gift that way. My fish gift group gave out dry erase boards with marker - my infamous pen that was lifted on the last day. However, if you all decide to do this - keep in mind about cut-off dates.

Julie - you got my info right? ;)

Talk to you all later - going in hunt of throat lozenges. Or was that tea and honey? :scratchin MOM!!!!!!!!!!![/

I'm sorry Laura to hear of your emerging discomfort....

I had BAD intestinal discomfort yesterday. It was really intense and I'll spare everyone the rest of the descriptions... except to say I don't think ANYONE really wants to try it.... or would wish it upon anyone else.

And so... you were gonna LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES of the SM staff on the WBPC voyage, eh? How sneaky of you... and folks think I'm masquerading as "innocent"... when they should have been keeping a weary eye on you it seems.... < wink >

As for the fish extender thingy... you folks did what we are planning on doing. We were going to attach our dry erase pen caps to the writing boards BY HAND with string, zip ties and a little epoxy. This should discourage petty thieves from pinching the pen... but possibly ENCOURAGE a would be thief to steal the whole thing. So to overcome THAT I figured on personalizing several with individual cabin numbers. Plus I was gonna bring aboard a rechargable hand held drill to drive screws in attaching the memo pads to the cabin doors. [ silent steady grinnin' ] That would make stealing the memo pads very difficlut - unless the thieves brought their own electric drills to UNSREW the screws I used. SO I was going to bring superglue too... you figure Disney CMs would object to a few holes driven into thier cabin doors? < wink>

As for all the FRESH TIPS and clues you're sharing ... I think it's wonderful! DO get well soon ... as I'm sure we're all anxious to see photos and read of more tips and insights.

I gotta go now....
