Hi Everyone!

I just joined. We're booked on the TOAL Eastbound Panama Canal Cruise. We booked the first day( way back when) but I just started looking for information about the cruise and you certainly looked like a fun bunch. I managed to get a Palo brunch, tea and dinner and most of the shore excursions I wanted. We have everything but a stateroom assignment. How many of you are still just on a guaranteed status. We're guaranteed category 5. There is way too much information to go through to see if a lot of you are still at this status. It seems that if they are now selling more cabins they could at least get the original reservations a stateroom assignment. We're also interested in the Mr. Emerald Cartgena tour. We like to take a tour and then have some time to look around on our own and find the Hard Rock Cafes for souvenirs. Our anniversary happens to fall on the Puerto Vallarta day and I booked the Rhythms of the Night Shore Excursion. It seemed like a romantic thing to do. Is anyone on that excursion? I now noticed the Sunset Cruise and that sounds romantic too but it is now filled. This is going to be one great cruise and as you say a TOAL.

So happy to have you joining our little "Family". We can get quite chatty but just jump in whenever you want and you must pop in and visit us on Friday Night Chat!

DH used to have a couple of torn/bulging discs (he did epidural therapy for them) and it would cause him not to be able to use one leg....he would literaly have to lean agaisnt a wall and use his hands to pull himself down the hall at work......

A friend at work just went thru 3 weeks of Epidural shots for her disc problem and is pain free. Did DH get the shots as well???

I haven't done the door signs before so i thought I would play with one tonight...still a work in progress but it's getting there...

And people wonder what's wrong with our schools????? :confused3

Where did you get the fonts?? I have never done anything like this and will probably need DS to assist me.

Hi Everyone!

Hi, we had book the Sunset Sail but changed to the Rhythms of the Night Shore Excursion instead. It is great to know others from the cruise will be on the excursion. I agree that that it is going to be a TOAL. Georgiana

Every cabin has a metal sculpted "FISH" with a retention slot behind it for a few letters or notes. How convenient, eh? That is ... if all you'll ever get are a couple of letters at any one time.

Now a "Fish extender" is typically a hand sewn fabric contraption that is about 7" wide and maybe 2.5-3 feet long with usually THREE to FIVE pockets for holding many letters, some small items or a few modestly bulky items possibly up to the size of a medium sized paper back book. Often the decoration of these "fish extenders" is as varied as snowflakes are different.

Experienced DIS enthusiasts bring theirs along to hang up (often zip tied to the FISH to discourage petty theft of the Fish Extender itself). And if there is any meaningful crowd of DIS enthusiasts ... then a number of DIS neighbors will surprise everyone with tokens and perhaps small unique gifts. A few folks may get a medium sized ROCK too.

igotarock.jpg

Think of it as "Trick or Treat" for DIS folks - with 99% being modest "treats" .... plus the ocassional "rock". I was (to put it mildly) amazed at what resulted from our particiaption with the FISH EXTENDER diversions on our last DCL voyage - an 11 nite southern special.

FOlks who hang up a fish extender are NOT obligated to bring aboard special items/gifts for every other neighbor with a Fish Extender. It's all voluntary - and an exercise in genuine neighborly good will IMO. Excepting those who get rocks though.... < wink >

Here are a few photos of FIsh Extenders from our last voyage:

Thanks for the explaination. I was pretty sure that is what you put in them,, but wanted to make sure. All of them are so crafty.. I love the MICKEYMOUSE body one.. I will have to try to make one..( mind you no crafty talent in these fingers..lol)

You will all know mine as a few plastic report folders stapled together..lol

When are you guys going to be at Busch Gardens? Maybe we can meet up? We're headed there tomorrow (if I don't have too much work . . .LOL)

We are going to be down there this weekend. I got tickets for the parks and to Coloniel Williamsburg. We are going to try to hit the park for a bit tonight, and then we will play it by ear the rest of the weekend.

What's his/her name and we want pictures!!! :yay:

Testing this image. Her name is LOLA and she is just 1 yr old.. She sings snd whistles but no talking yet.. She is like a terrible 2 yr old child.

I'm glad that you don't have degnerative disc disease - dh has it and is missing discs in his back and neck. :sad2: He has always been very athletic and he can no longer play Hockey (on a team) or ride certain rides...... Luckily he can still skate with out pain! :thumbsup2
He also has a problem with migraines .....

Our last name is REALLY common. I've always been upfront online about our names, etc... 15 yrs and no problems.

I remember about 5 yrs ago dh received a phone call one day and then the *kid* posted on one their boards *Ha, Ha I called Zirc's house!* Dh posted back *So, everyone here knows my name and where I work. They could do the same thing if they wanted.* ;)

I've also met quite a few people IRL that I had met online.... Including driving to Austin for the weekend to hang out with a group of women I met on an AOL board! LOL! And that was 12 yrs ago!

A few years ago our oldest DS & a friend of his drove to NC for a week to hang out with a couple of guys that they met online (they are friends of DH's, too. But, dh didn't think they wanted a *dad* to hang out with them all week!) -- it was a group they played Action Half Life with (dh & ds ran their own server and boards for the game).

You know I am not a paranoid person either. Studies show you have more to worry about from people you know vs. strangers.

We visited the alien museum over the weekend :).

Did you got to the musum in Roswell??? My family has a statement in the "International UFO Museum" stating we know absolutely nothing about a spaceship crash on our ranch. Our ranch was listed as one of 2 sites that they state the "UFO" landed.

We (myself, 17dd & 10ds) were there this past August and had a wonderful time!!!!
They just built one near us and we are planning on going soon! We think Dh & 6dd will have a great time!

Now there's a great place we could meet. Or some place in Grapevine.

You should hear our school Principal make morning announcements!
" Boys and girls,we will not have recess on tomorrow'!
Or "I pledge allegience,to the flag,of the United States of America. And to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, Invisible, with liberty and justice for all"

That is truly tragic. :sad2: Not to even know the actual Pledge of Allegiance. OY!!!

LOL
I really don't get all the people that "ketchup" and then only post that they caught up and now going to bed. :confused3

it is easy BIP after an hour of reading the posts, there is no time for posting and chatting.. :confused3 so another way is not to ketchup.. but just post and sound silly... or in my case that is a natural state.. LOL

Uh, neither? We're going to the DIY option ourselves. We've got a drawerful of white shirts - like I need another? And I'm not all the interested in black. We'll be the out of uniform pirate family in the piratey tie-dye. Still working out the design, but grey and red are coming immediately to mind.

You are doing all of this work on the t-shirts, and you are not even getting one? I think you have earned a free one for each of your family members! :goodvibes

But.....you won't be the only "out of uniform pirate family". I have decided to not order....and I'm considering the DIY method since Todd posted such a great image of the banner. :thumbsup2

Wow! Doreen that is just stunning. That is one ride that I won't ride at Water Country (we have season passes to both Busch Parks here in VA). My kids enjoy it occasionally with DH. Hope your DH is back to 100%

The ride suddenly stopped with no water.. the boat/slide/raft kept going and he crashed into the back of my head full speed. I flipped back into his head. His face was a mess to say the least. They took us to Williamsburg Hospital in just our bathing suits..( tell me that was embarrassing) My poor kids were left in the park to find my sister. She of course thought they were joking when they told her "mom and Marty were just taken to the hospital" Then we had to drive back to NY STATE the next day...in all that pain and broken bones.Needless to say we havent been back to Water Country...:confused3

Any woman would kill for those eyelashes!!!

The next time I cut mine, I'll send them to you! I have to use steroid eye drops for my glaucoma. The side effect is that it makes my lashes grow like mad.

To bad it wouldn't work for my bald spot on the top of my head! :)

I asked because someone else posted to me yesterday that some people were only wearing white so maybe we should just get white and wear it both days. So now I'm asking WHO is doing that... or is that merely a rumor designed to get BIP and family to be the only outcasts in white that day? I mean because if I'm gonna be different than EVERYONE else- I might as well wear
HOT PINK instead of white. I mean might as well go all out. LOL

I am the one that posted it, and I would never have done that to try to make you look like outcasts.

If I decide to try the DIY method, I will most likely do it on white shirts. So, we will be outcasts, but it doesn't bother me at all.

You are absolutely right for like names under the image. I was SOOOOO thinking they were wanting stuff like logos and such where people might want words across/within/etc an image. ie: earlier they posted a "blank map" and mentioned we could edit that to our own calendar....in that case you'd need more than Word. SOOOO SORRY for jumping the gun on that one

Just trying to take the easy way. I use the "borrowed" graphics and put all my text in with Word. With the Word Art option you can even do shadows, etc. So no jumping the gun, just different strokes for different folks. I so want to be able use Photoshop (which my DH bought me for my birthday) but get frustrated every time I try to so much as add text. With Word you just put in a text box, right click format text box and away you go. I use Power Point that way too. I guess I am just a Microsoft kind of person. Although I use Adobe Acrobat at work and I hate that too.:lmao:

Good Morning everyone! TGIF!:thumbsup2

For all of you do it yourselfers, Michaels has t-****s on sale 5 for $10. That's $2 a shirt. All colors. Adult S-XL and Youth S-XL. Sale through Sat.

Holy smokes!

JR! what happened?

I told her to be quiet while I was on the DIS and she wouldn't listen, so..

hang on, it's that nice lady from Child Services at the door again...

(She fell down on the sidewalk going into school and used her face to break her fall. I even have a note from school to prove it!)

We had a similar conversation. Except it ended with: In this house the 1 gets carried. I don't care how you want to do it at school or with your friends. But when your here you'll carry the 1 and like it !! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

"If you are living under MY roof, you'll carry the 1!!!" :lmao:

I also had trouble figuring out who that Richard Stands guy was and why he was important because he wasn't in any of our history books.

(and to the Republic, for Richard Stands...)

wait that was my idea too... LOL now maybe I 'll just use plain vanilla ones with tape.. LOL
