I haven't done the door signs before so i thought I would play with one tonight...still a work in progress but it's getting there...

That is terrific . . it reminded me to go and buy the magnetic paper . .

As I recall, if you lay the shirt down and measure across it and then 2x then it would give you the measurement???

That's correct.

no that's not right- it can't be right! Look at the chest width- it says 34 inches for a 6xl! if it was like you're saying- that would mean it's only 17 inches across/34 inches all the way around- which would barely fit my 10yr old... an adult size 6xl! LOL

(when it says 34 inches it means across the front- not front/back circumference)

Not sure why you are having such a problem with this. Maybe its the 'new' math.

lay the shirt down
it measures 34 inches across the front
multiply by 2....so 34 x 2 = 68
said shirt is 68 inches all the way around .... sounds like a 6xl to me

Using other numbers from the website

Large says it's 22 inches
multiply by 2.....22 x 2 = 44
said shirt is 44 inches all the way around....sounds about a L or XL to me

OK so on the subject of FEs... How many nights do you guys plan on handing something out? Every other day? We haven't decided to do it yet, though I think it would be fun. I'm just not sure about delivering everything to EVERYONE every day and how much stuff I'd have to bring. Also I have no clue what to even give out... And how much money do you guys spend on all the gifts?

There's been talk of assigning people certain days, assigning certain decks per day, or just go it on your own. I'm one of the trouble makers, I don't want to be tied to a schedule. I just want to wander when I have some spare time and deliver what I can when I can.

I don't think anything's been decided yet. And you won't be held to a strict schedule. But we would like to keep it spread out so we don't get everything delived at the beginning or end.

Ok..it's bad enough how much time I sit here on this thread..now I have spent all evening playing with door signs. I found this one and put something together:

alitlepixiedust-1.jpg

And with that..I must get some sleep. Good night all!

Hopefully this will work.

Info also posted on pirate zone, under On Board Plans - Day to be Determined in the Group Tastings Thread.

Attached is the current list of participants. Let us know if anything is not correct.

There are a few names that are bolded and have a not to the far right. If it says "no selection" then you didn't tell us what you requested. If it says "which one" then you indicated your choice with the word or so we don't know exactly what you are requesting. Please email your corrections to Laurie at mrsscoobie@yahoo.com.

well, I think I've decided we're not going to buy shirts... we'll just do our own thing with maybe tie-dye shirts or something.
I just realized that the logo doesn't really make sense for us. It says DIS and captain jack rrrr back- well we're not "back"- this is our first panama canal cruise! So that part doesn't make sense -for us.
Also I got to thinking- on our last cruise we all bought the group shirts and STILL only saw a few people from our massive group (on that double dip cruise- us blabbermouths LOL) and then we were only in the group meet for a few minutes because it was so hot up there. What a waste of money that was because we haven't worn those shirts since- and the kids shirts don't even fit them anymore.

I also can't imagine we'll really need the white shirts for panama canal day too. I doubt we'll really stand out there to watch all day long and the kids won't want to be with us doing that either- maybe a gimpse is all we'll get out of them and they'll want to be back in the clubs. So we might as well save our money.

But if we made mickey tie-dye shirts atleast I know we can wear our shirts on future Disney trips or even at home- no problem. And we can wear them on the excursions that we do together also (last time we wore matching shirts on the "family" excursions but they were just disney shirts bought on their website LOL) -I'm not fond of wearing black OR white for the excursions plus like I said- the logo doesn't really fit us.
And the kids can pass them down as they grow and maybe I can make some varying sizes for them to grow into. I just have to figure out how to make those mickey tye-dye shirts. LOL

sorry... the shirts are just not for us. Hope you still accept us in the group though! LOL

We'll wear our group lanyards and rubber wristbands though. :)

(oh and I may be wearing my LIME GREEN Disney tank... that I just remembered I bought us matching shirts last year from Disney- all different colors though but mine is lime green. I'll let you know later so you can recognize the "one that isn't like the others" LOL)

Maybe I'll just get a tote or something... hmmm, something to think about. LOL

Uh, I don't think you're understanding.
See all that figuring you're doing to come up wtih 68 and 44 inches?
Now show me where on the sizes of those shirts ANYWHERE it says 44 inches or 68 inches on the sizes.
It doesn't.
Hence my point.
Why say double it to get measurements that show up nowhere on that chart? Diggin' what I'm saying now?
What you started with- 34 and 22- is what is on the chart to help you pick the size... so why bother doubling it to come up with some measurement that isn't anywhere on the chart? You can't find 6xl with a measurement of 44- it says 34 on 6xl. You can't find a size L with a measurement of 44- because 44 isn't on there... L says 22 on the width.

Understand NOW why the double the measurement confused me?

ohhhhhhhh wait a minute.
It is just worded confusing.
What you're saying is take the width that it says on the chart and double that- that's what your chest should measure if you fit that shirt. See I read it different... it sounded like measure yourself and double THAT. LOL
Once I figured out (by the help of others here- and thanks to you all!) I think what it should say is take your measurement and DIVIDE that by 2 and then find that on the chart to find your size. LOL

nevermind me anyway- because I just decided against the shirts anyway. LOL

that is very cool. I wish I knew how to do stuff like that! I may have to get my sister to help- she's the graphics queen around these parts. I have no idea how she does it... LOL

I'm with you- i don't want to be tied down to a schedule/etc. I think if you want to do that- you should just sign up for the secret mickey. I signed the kids up for the secret mickey- the rest I'd rather just wander and when I have spare time deliver what I can/etc.
I'll probably try to do it when I'm doing the secret mickey for the kids. :)
(cause yeah- you can probably guess the kids won't end up doing it. LOL But hey maybe they will- especially if we get assigned kids close to where our stateroom is or something like that. I just hope who we get isn't all scattered all over the ship- like 3 kids in a family or 3 kids in staterooms close to one another or something like that- since it WILL be an every day/night thing with the secret mickey thing. Hey who is gonna match us up? I forget who is over the secret mickey thing!)

Just FYI
I posted this on the other board on the thread about the wristbands...

"A note on this size info.
My son has one of those EXACT wristbands showing here on the first post (from orientaltrading- the pirate one) and I measured it- it appears to be darn near 8 inches almost exactly. so I don't think we'd order any smaller than that- that size fits us all and I know my kids are used to that size (it's also the same size as the princess ones we have -some left over from Rita's birthday party last year and also ordered from orientaltrading-not that that matters where we got them LOL)

so we'd get all 8 inches and we'll need atleast 5.. I'd probably go with 10 for us in case any got lost. If they end up being the 50 some odd cents each- I'd order more to put in fish extenders or hand out to kids on pirates night. :) "

We do it once during the cruise.. and around midnight.. less people in the hallways.. and we felt it was nice getting a surprise in the morning...:yay:

Aw crash- I'll help you. I'm a night owl anyway and plan on being out there putting stuff in FE"s anyway! hehe

I think that's the last (and only?) time I ever tie-dyed too... when I was in GE camp MANY MANY MANY MANY (many many) moons ago. such a long long time ago. LOL

I think we were staying at some nice hotel somewhere warm when I stumbled upon the hotels' kids' play area... complete with counselors for the few kids attending. They had a tye dye actvity with a feeof like $20 per item ... not too cheap but elaborate in my opinion with materials laidout. SO we bought a couple shirts and joined in the program. Simple but a lasting, memorable quality souveneer!

As for the FE distribution... I have not decided what or if I'll do anything in addition to the magnetic memo boards. I have a crew who are sharing the cost and labor to assemble and distribute the goods... so that's resulting in what I consider NO burdon to pull off (individually)... but it would have been onerous to do alone I think as I currently concieve of it. So I have time and energy to consider taking on another project to play "fish".

I'll contact ya if I end up doing anything... as I would welcome the walking company... plus maybe ships security will not shadow me asmuch as you'll legitimaize things with me ... since I might appear sneaky stalking through the corridors alone passing out FE treats (plus the occassional rock).

I'll have to see if our library has that book. Sounds like something DS would like. He loved the Harry Potter series...read the first book in the 1st grade. We also have a lot of books in our house!

These are written by Angie Sage & are excellent - I've read the first three:
the first is Magyk
the second is Flyte
the third is Physik

Allegedly there will be 7 in total.

Seriously, I'm heading out to Vegas tomorrow for the weekend - meeting with cousins from Hawaii for a soccer tournament - they have 14 girls and their families out here and it's gonna be lots a fun hanging out. Plus I have some business to attend to. So... by noon time I should be gone for the weekend ... maybe.

But since we're on the subject- when did the "on line" thing start (instead of in line- like when people say "they were on line for dinosaur" for instance)?

seriously- when did that start? In my day you were IN line... get in line, were in line, IN, not on. How can you be 'on' line? You're not ON line- you're IN that line. but the last few years or so I've noticed people call it "on line". I don't get it.

It's always been "online" in NYC . . . you go online for a movie the first night it is open, online at Zabar's to get your number to order, etc., etc.

Just a question...those that are signing up are doing FE gifts..correct? My Mom and sister have their own cabin but did not wish to participate in the FE but are participating in the SM. Do they need to put something on their fish? I did not turn in their cabin number as I don't want people to feel they need to leave FE gifts when they are not doing so.

Thanks!

As I said to Crash last night (but he may not have seen it) the magnetic board list should be the ROSTER, which someone should be setting up to put in the cruise Dis navigator. While you are not required to give anything to sign up for the FE, a lot of people don't bring an FE and should still be able to get the dry erase board.

OK so on the subject of FEs... How many nights do you guys plan on handing something out? Every other day? We haven't decided to do it yet, though I think it would be fun. And how much money do you guys spend on all the gifts?

Anything goes! Whatever works for you, truly. If we start telling everyone what to do, it will take a lot of the fun out of the FE . . .

Hopefully this will work.

Thank you so much for doing this, Monica and Laurie! My info is completely correct. Did DCL give you any idea when we will know our schedule for these?

Fish extender list signup

Attention all pirates!
If you plan to have a fish extender, please PM me with your room number or GTY category
I will periodically post the list and will revise as cabin assignments come in

As a reminder: this is not a competition, and no one will judge the quality/quantity of your gifts, if you choose to give them out . . . it is about having fun and getting surprises in your fish extender. All you are promising when you sign up is that you will have something with pockets hanging on the metal fish outside your cabin door and would accept/appreciate goodies being left for you. I will also post on the pirate zone planning boards, but would prefer getting PMs here with the information.

A final list, organized by floor, will be available by a week or so before the cruise. Any last minute cabin reassignments/upgrades can be listed on my cabin door (6050) during the cruise.

This makes a TOAL even more enjoyable!
