There is no way I am going to attempt to read backwards. Last night was crazy to say the least. I hope everyone got at least some of their top choices and that if not they can be arranged on the ship.

We'll make sure not to post anything important while you're gone:thumbsup2

Liar, liar, pants on fire. You guys wrote fifteen pages whilst I was on the toll road.

Thank God that they have HIGH SPEED free internet here. And their high speed is really that. So many places are not very fast. :thumbsup2

I guess the high speed makes up for the rooms here. YIKES! Can you say "dump"?

:yay: :yay: Hi Johnna! Glad to see your posting.:yay: :yay:

On one of my many calls today, they explicitly told me they do hold back slots, but it is "DCL Policy" not to release them even if a customer complains.

This was another highly unsuccessful attempt to explain to them that "policy" means they can, just decide not to....

Do you think they release them a little over time & then some at 75 days & keep some for onboard?

MATH ALERT!

The 3 times aren't really 3 whole groups of diners - It just spreads out the arrival times. Brunch usually takes us a couple hours! The 10:30 people are just getting going as the 11:00 folks show up. All 3 groups will be there for quite a while. That means only 140 people will have brunch each sea day. We have 7 sea days, so 980 people can have brunch. I don't know if the 140 number includes the private dining room. If not, then we can add 14 per sea day for that (98 more) for a total of 1078.

Since kids can't have brunch, that is 1078 adults - you would think that anyone who wanted could have a brunch ....

Pamela

it would seem...

For those who are interested, here's a quick tutorial/speculation on why the DCL servers had such problems last night, and why "fixing it" is a harder problem than you might expect.....
Thanks:thumbsup2 Let's hope they're reading this;)
Okay LG....here she is....

Sorry if these come out large, I couldn't get my "edit" to work.

Oh wow:cutie: They grow up fast. I guess you never took one of those naked bathtub pictures:rolleyes1 Cause you'd post that if you could right;)

BTW - in case it got lost during the turmoil last night - the new Indiana Joines movie was Great!! Someone asked if was suitable for small children - depends on how small. I think it would be okay for my 7yr old grandson - a few scenes probably might scare him. My older grandkids - 13 & 14 - will definately enjoy it.

Thanks Chris:thumbsup2 We're looking forward to this movie this weekend:woohoo:

glad to hear you enjoyed it! i'm excited to have it come out to find some time to get myself and joel110 to it (hum...not always easy with kids, eh?) I didn't consider taking to the DDs.....figured they might be too young and frankly I'm looking forward to a date night anyway :)

Welcome all the newbies!!!

Scrapbook swap!

I will be more then happy to head this up! I have some ideas to make it easy and fun! :)

I thought we would do page kit's by theme/port.

:woohoo: I got the first vote on the Princess night! :woohoo:

yes..I am bored and yes I am killing time instead of cleaning like I should be.

On another - happier note. Today is a momentous day for the sk8ingfam.

As of today, DH is

FIVE AND DIVE!

OK, not really by the standard definition of 5 and dive:

DH graduated from CGA May 19, 1993 - so he can retire with full benefits at exactly 5 years from today! Technically he'll have 24 years in, but only 20 will count towards retirement.

Of course he's going to have to go out and get another real job in order to keep me in the manner in which I am accustomed.

woo hoo, congrats to DH and you

Ok...so....here's my 2 cents on the whole Palo booking issue.

DCL intentionally offered very limited availability for Brunch and Tea, knowing many of us were planning on fitting both (or at least one) into the schedule. Given that there are 7 sea days, it really doesn't make any sense to be shut out of brunch. (See math above).

So, what would be the motivation for the limited availability? Hmmmm....think about that while you watch Mickey swim....while you check the "online plans" section just one more time, in hopes of catching that brunch that might pop up online.

Then think about it again tomorrow as you check the "online plans" section yet again. Before you know it, some of the other options start to sound better. Hmmm...look...there's still couples' cabana massages. Hmmm....maybe I'll book that instead of the Palo brunch we had planned for our anniversary. Yeah...that's it...it's a TOAL and we're worth it, and besides it means I can give the brunch bookings a rest. (Please feel free to substitute any excursion/spa treatment/fitness booking/other pre-booked expenditure in lieu of my example.)

Bottom line--I think the limited brunch bookings are meant to enhance DCL's bottom line. Guest services is blatently telling people to check back often. Why? Because the more often we see the other MORE EXPENSIVE offerings the more likely those offerings will make it into our cruise plans.

(Oh....and I'll edit to add....There will be a number of people who book something instead of the brunch knowing they'll stand in line to try to get the brunch on Embarkation Day. In the moment that the Palo staff assigns a date/time, DCL comes out smelling like a rose for finally giving us what we wanted. Wow! What great Guest Service....right?)

Okay, here is something interesting.....

I had asked earlier about Cabo del Sol, as I was trying to book it for my dad. It was not showing on the DCL website as an excursion you could book all morning.

So, I called DCL, and actually spoke with someone very helpful. She told me she would check into it and have someone call me back. So a little while ago, I did get a call back and was informed by yet another helpful CM, that he went ahead and booked my dad for this excursion. I wasn't able to get back into my parent's reservation until just a moment ago, and I noticed the time for the golf outing is 10:15am-5:15pm. Yet, we are only scheduled to be in port until 4:30pm. Is this typical? Does anyone else have excursion times that go beyond our scheduled port time?

Does this mean they're leaving your Dad in Cabo? :scared1:
