Don't feel stupid -- I just thought it was funny . . . maybe I wanted three so that we could sequentially go to all three and price check before taking a vote on which one to return to and actually buy the stuff . . . or maybe we would secretly decide which one we were going to and not tell the other buses in hopes they wouldn't follow us . . . or maybe the pirate bus leaders would have them bid against each other for our business in return for a kickback to us . . .

I thought we were all in the shunned section! The darn ship is going to tip over . . .:lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I can see it now...you inform the bus that you will be leaving at 9am but will arrive at approx. 3 pm due to having to stop at every grocery store between DL and the port.

Diane and I have posted on a thread on the main forum, I have praised this thread and the Med 07 thread, Most of my post is very positive, but I have posted one negative comment ,that comment isn't related to anything to do with this thread, but a different one, Just wanted everyone here to know that.

I knew that!

It was a great response! Very diplomatic! ;)

Edited to add: I sort of got the idea that THIS was thread the OP was talking about, hense the reference to 1000's of pages!

Thanks, It understand a bit where it comes from I try to be diplomatic, firstly 'they' should try to fit in as you say, or drop out, but I had a problem elsewhere.....
I think ( or hope) most people like, me, but the odd one or two do not and make that quite clear. Presume if you post a lot, you will get a negative reaction somewhere by the law of averages.

Actually I 'forgot' you were on 'late' this one, I just had visions of you across Parrot Cay floor form me, so it was genuine.

Not this time . . . but feel free to pass me a glass of champagne any other time we see each other on the ship!:thumbsup2

My thoughts exactly! And all of us pushing our way through the aisles, jamming the registers . . . we would need all that booze to survive before we could get to port at 3 PM!:lmao:

No, I read the thread but did not post . . . I really can understand how hard it is to feel like an outsider, yet also have experienced first hand how well you can get to know people by chatting on a thread like this one . . . I guess I feel that the best thing is to be sure there is some place with all the relevant info, as we have, and then people should feel free to join in on the thread or not depending on how they feel at any given time . . . it is a very tricky situation.

There is also a store called Beverages and More (BevMo) out here..here is one in Long Beach but it is off of the path to get to the port..but they are pretty much a store that sells lots of different wines etc..

Here is the link to their website (maybe some of you will have a rental car and wish to go prior to the bus) There is also a location in brea which is approximately 15 minutes from DL. There is also one in Torrance which is about 20 minutes from LAX.

Roger, maybe you could help us out with this issue -- those of us planning the pirate buses want to make a liquor stop between DL and San Pedro -- but there will be three buses, likely carrying 50-60 people each (yes!) . . . so can you think of three places on the larger size (with plenty of registers) on the way so that we do not clog up one place and delay our arrival to the port?

Thanks so much . . .

Would it be possible to have 1 non stopping bus? Or is that too difficult?

Roger, that is EXACTLY what we need -- we are going to assign the different buses to pick up from different hotels and have a different "point person" on board, and we will assign in advance going to different supermarkets. I will save that map for our reference.

Thanks so much!

ok, guess no non stop bus then...forgot about multiple pick up points

Yep eveyone is different. And I can understand both sides...

LOVE Bev Mo....if I had a vote, I'd say this was a better stop than a grocery store

Julie there are 3 large super markets around DL. Most of our super markets carry an excellent supply of spirits and wines. They are usually open at 6am and should have plenty of registers.

Thanks for posting this Roger - now I can program them into the GPS thingy so that I can find them once there!

Since we have to have a mixture of banter and cruise related information, I have finally gotten this activity off the ground. I have wanted to do a scavenger hunt on the boat since last year. In the past I have made pirate maps for the kids and hid them around the house with clues leading to the next map. I tried to think of a way to transfer this idea to the Magic but I would really need to be on the Magic to come up with really good clues. Also having people stationed around the ship handing out the next map seems to be way to involved. So I did some research and discussed with Cherie and I think I have come up with a workable idea. I am open to comments, suggestions and help on making this a lot of fun. So here goes my idea.

  • We will make up teams out of those that sign up to participate. Depending on the interest the size of the teams may vary.
  • Each team will need one digital camera/team.
  • Each team will be will be given a list of items/places on the Magic that must be photographed with one of the team members in the photo.
  • First team that collects all of the designated photos and returns to the starting point will be deemed the winner.
  • The list of items/places may require some thought and knowledge of the ship.
Example: Paintbrush
Since this would be an easy one, the team would head off to Animators Palette and take a picture of the paintbrush outside the restaurant with one of the team members in the pictures. Trust me the actual list will not be this easy and will require all of your cunning pirate skills.

I would love to have a few volunteers that would be interested in coming up with items/places on the Magic for the list. Also help at the end to verify the winner. If you volunteer for this you will not be able to participate in the actual scavenger hunt.

I am thinking that this activity would be great on the sea day following Aruba. By that time people will have spent enough time around the ship to be familiar with most of areas.

In California? :rotfl: :rotfl: Nope. The only restrictions are that you can not buy alcohol from 2am-6am 7 days a week.

Penny

We still have some old blue laws on the books here in NY - can't by alcohol on Sundays before 12 noon.
