This is the infamous widening and deepening of the canals the boats sail through there . . . with the widening of the theme park attending public, the boats kept scraping the bottom and getting stuck:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: so it's a huge refurb.
Well it's just par for the course with our luck, I'm telling you. the one time we go to the disneyland and the one ride my littlest asks about- and it's being refurbed... in the summer. That's unusual to be refurbed in the summer or for that LONG of a period of time, right?
*sigh*
:confused3

When I left my apartment this morning, there was police warning tape all around, lots of police and police cars, etc. It turned out that there was a raccoon (a pretty big one) hanging out in the tree right in front of our building. Now some of you may see lots of raccoons, but this is the first time I have seen one on the Upper East Side. They eventually shot a tranquilizer into him and caught him in a net to take to animal control. I am hoping they will release him somewhere out of the city rather than euthanize him -- he was pretty darn cute. I took some pictures but don't know if they turned out. If so, I will try to post a few later.:goodvibes
raccooons aren't allowed in your city?

they have to completely dig out all the canals to make them deeper ...Thats AOT of work , then they have to relay all the tracks ...I think they said it was going to take about 9 to 10 months ....

Someone just posted on the main board that a Cat 2 was just made available to them. They're not sure they want it :scared1:

If they put police tape up for all the racoons around here I would never get out of our town.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I guess I am not a "city" girl, not a country girl either, more of a suburban girl...well not a girl either:laughing: more like a "mature" woman.

I have this picture in my head of this poor racoon with all the police cars and sirens thinking "why did I leave the park?"

oh no.... how can this be? refurbishing this thru the summer months and for so long? My youngest DD just asked me LAST NIGHT if they have IASW and I told her ofcourse.
ack...............

Fat tourist = refurbishment. The whole thing was redone just 3 years ago (1995) & they are doing it again.

I really hope they are adding plastic hull boats like in WDW. Did I ever mention my not-so-magical morning in DL when we rode IASW & when I exited, my flip flops, toes, and camera bag were freshly-painted IASW teal??

Space Mountain was closed the last time we went to DL, June 2005, & most of that summer.

So rats and roaches are fine, but raccoons get warning tape and squad cars?

Why just looking and not cooking!!!  I have been on two crusies and never saw a cooking demonstration!!:sad2:

might have been special for the repo, I don't know....but they would make stuff and then we'd get to eat, and there was usually a wine pairing too!

Silly me for a sec i thought you were talking about the panama canal...:lmao:

Nice attitude...........

Of course it couldn't also be so that they could change boats to be handicapped accessible or nicer quality either. Wheelchairs and scooters and the like do weigh more. Their full boats now have had "stuck" issues.

So let's not just blame those like Pooh... (vent over JMO)

That's interesting. I'd expect to see that on Tuesday next week - but this early? Either a bunch of cabins were released, or DCL expects a bunch to be released and wants to start selling this weekend?

With pay off being on a Monday and things not getting posted on Sunday, I bet a lot of people are just getting it taken care of now

Nothing listed has wowed me, either . . . but honestly there is so much to do on the ship as well as at the ports that it doesn't bother me that much.

Yep - we figured we would get some night time swimming in on the nights we aren't interested in the show. when the pools aren't crowded

It's going to be a HOT one today. It was only 68 when I left my house. It was 81 by the time I got to work. And it's only 8:30 am. Supposed to get up to 95.

I'm right of the SF Bay. It never gets this hot here. We've usually got our built in air conditioner (fog) and the bay breeze. Not today. We're cooking!

It's bouncing around quite a bit - and the categories also change based on number of kids. Keep in mind that DCL doesn't just control capacity based on cabins - it has a total passenger count to consider (it can't actually fill every cabin to max passengers), and it has capacity limits in each age group as well.

For 2 adults + 2 kids, I'm seeing a 6, 9 and 10.
For 2 adults, I'm seeing 6, 7, 9 and 10.
A category 5 seems to appear and vanish periodically.

We also have no complaints on the price we have (I think we booked at tier 1 or 2) - it's substantially less than what we're seeing now.

And if, by some unlikely chance, they end up selling category 12's at an even lower price - that's ok too, I can always downgrade. But I really don't expect that to happen this time.

That was such a sweet deal last year. I jumped on the Cat 12 when they lowered the price. Ended up in a 9 when I finally got assigned. But I agree with you, we won't see that this time.

Starts 11 or 12 :scared1: :scared1: . That won't due, now will it

Before Cheryl decided to not stay at the port, she had them ready to start whenever we needed it, she had a contact name/number/person ....

Wonder if someone thought the PIF date was 90 days... did I say that out loud?

I was a little underimpressed with the entertainment list. After reading some blogs/trip reports, it sounds like the WB'ers are enjoying them and that they're putting on some good shows. Hopefully, we'll enjoy them too. If not, that'll give us more time to wander the ship and do some other things. :drinking1

Exactly. Everyone will be at the shows so we'll have the bars to ouselves!

Drink up me hearties! Yo Ho!
